    My recent purchase of the Tg6 was largely due to these great in depth videos - so helpful with the settings & then being able to get into the water & filming quickly. Just made my first Nudibranch video & i'm very happy with results i'm achieving with this camera.

    For JPEG you should be using Large Super Fine. Super Fine just has to be enabled in the menu first.
    I ideal setting is RAW + L-SF. This gives you the best JEPG out of camera for quick sharing and the RAW for editing later.

      Hi, the TG-7 and TG-6 use the same settings, so everything here applies equally to the TG-7. The TG-7 is a slight refresh of the TG-6, with a brighter LCD, USB-C connection, and an updated body.

    You mention a video about the accessories at the end of this video, but I can only find one on the TG-5 accessories. Is the one for TG-6 available? Also, these videos are awesome, I know next to nothing about photography and they are very informative. Thank you!

    Hey Backscatter, I was wondering what the best settings would be for shooting things like fish portrait where you aren't using a wide angle wet lens. Is it much different to the settings for wide-angle?

    • @backscatteruw

      You can just use the wide angle settings, that will be your best bet.

    F2.8 for macro mode, I understand. We will zoom all out in the end anyway. But F2.8 for wide-angle, I don't get it. Don't we get bokeh for a landscape photo? Isn't that not very ideal for a landscape photo?

    • @backscatteruw
      @backscatteruw  3 года назад +1

      It all has to do with how the TG-6 aperture works. It's not really a true f2.8 in optical terms. The TG-6 only has 2 physical aperture sizes. Depending on the zoom level of the camera, it will change the displayed aperture value but the physical size of the lens opening is not actually changing unless you go to the other aperture size (the third/smallest aperture is simulated with an ND filter). The depth of field does not actually change.

    i have a question using a x-light m8000 with a tg6 , i know it's a video light, but i can also work as a flash with an optical cable, for macros it may be enough i think. what i dont know yet, how do i need to set the tg6 flash settings to work proberly with the m8000 as a strobe? any advie appreciated (don't have the tg6 yet, so i can't test it myself sadly)

    • @backscatteruw
      @backscatteruw  Год назад

      Video lights with a "strobe" mode do not work like a strobe. Even in that mode, it is still functionally a video light, so use the settings outlined in Part 2 of this series (Photos with a Video Light).

    How is the battery life for video recording (let’s say 1080p at 60fps)?

    • @backscatteruw
      @backscatteruw  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, we typically recommend swapping out the battery between dives when shooting video. You might be able to squeak two dives through on a single charge, but it will depend on use. It is usually better to swap the battery out so you don't miss any action!

    Great video, because with autofocus "on" and shooting a movie there is a lot of noise of the autofocus motor... So switching to manual is the only solution, unfortunate...

    • @backscatteruw
      @backscatteruw  3 года назад

      That's exactly why we like using the Focus Lock feature. All the benefits of Manual while still being able to set focus automatically. Can't beat it.

  • @paragonfl
    @paragonfl 3 года назад

    When I watched your excellent video the 1st time I thought there was a PRO setting that would record images from the focus until the shutter was pressed all the way... can't find it now and can't find it in the menu. Am I wrong about a PRO setting?

    • @backscatteruw
      @backscatteruw  3 года назад +1

      You are thinking of Pro Capture Mode. You can find it under the frame rate options in the Quick Menu, or by pressing 'down' on the D-pad when at the main shooting screen. Pro Capture Mode will continuously buffer images while the shutter is held, then capture the previous several frames once the shutter is fully pressed.

    what would be your best settings for tg7 video of a night manta ray snorkel ?????

    • @backscatteruw
      @backscatteruw  Год назад +1

      Video is completely automatic on TG cameras. Everything in our Best Video Settings guide will be the exact same for TG-7 as it is for TG-6. For night manta snorkel, you'll definitely want the M52 Wide Angle Lens with a No-Burp O-Ring pre-burped and ready to shoot before you even hit the water. The TG isn't going to excel at nighttime video without either lots of noise, or lots of lights. Add a pair of Macro Wide 4300s set to Wide mode and full power out on some long control arms. Make sure you have floats on your arms to keep the camera rig neutral in the water for the best stabilization. The rest is just up to you!
