      Fingering patterns in perfect fourths:
      major starting on 5: 135 135 135 235 235 245 245 repeat
      Melodic minor from 5: 135 134 135 235 135 245 235 repeat
      Major was much easier to memorize for me in the beginning, despite the fact that they are intervallically similar.

    Great lesson where would you use the melodic minor in a blues?

    • @jefflordan
      @jefflordan 6 месяцев назад

      Dipping into Mixolydian b6 is really fun over 7 chords. If it's a blues that can jump between major and minor while soloing, then that would work great. My first thought is something along the lines of Pride and Joy.

    • @beneunson
      @beneunson  6 месяцев назад +1

      In a Major Blues, you could use the Lydian b7 mode on the I chord - for example, if the I chord is C7, you could play C Lydian b7. Thanks for watching!

    I have almost "mastered" the major modes, besides learning their interval patterns-last thing to do-before moving on. Should an intermediate/advanced player memorize all the modes for this scale, or is it something just for a certain type of music like jazz? I play mostly rock, blues, and pop right now but would like to move over to country and jazz in the future.

    • @beneunson

      Thanks for watching! I think it's great for any guitar soloist to learn these modes regardless of the style you primarily play. Whether it's Jazz, Blues, Rock or anything else, it can always be helpful to expand your vocabulary. Thanks again!
