Im convinced that if it wasn’t for the lofty expectations we have for Pixar this movie would be getting more respect. It’s not Pixar’s peak but it’s better than 85% of animated movies.
You’re right, people hold Pixar’s standards super high so whenever they release a movie that’s good but not perfect people get upset and start acting like it’s bad
As a child of parents who migrated to the U.S. this felt really close to home. When they spoke about burdens that children sometimes carry of wanting to re pay their parents for how hard they’ve always worked to provide but at the same time wanting to be able to do what you love I’m glad that everyone else who may not relate can at least get an idea of how we feel. This movie definitely made me cry but it was tears of joy
I just finished watching this movie. It was BEAUTIFUL. The animation was absolutely stunning and so creative. THIS is the kind of movie I wish Disney would do MORE OF. The bond between Ember and Wade was SOOO SWEET. They definitely had a spark. And Wade made me cry in a good way.
This was my 5 year old's 1st cinema experience, or rather, the 1st movie theater experience for the whole family together. I really can't think of another film that would have been more perfect for the occasion. Absolutely loved it.
I think this movie was actually really good and I like that Pixar is encouraging their directors to draw from personal experience which is what this was, Peter Sohn‘s family experience. The only issue I had with it was the extreme similarities to Zootopia but other than that, I still think it’s a good movie.
I also got some Zootopia vibes, but I like the space where this movie lived: as a love story focused on the two main characters as opposed to a grand mystery that took the two characters around the city and resulted in a big Aha! moment.
A lot of people say it was a bad movie because it wasn't true to the trailers and the plot was not original, but I think it was a good love story with important social and life lessons. Like an inspirational push for people feeling emotionally down from their parents and societal expectations and living circumstances. It also teaches that everyone has a right to find their talent and do what they love in life.
I was 100% on board with it not matching the teaser trailer. Reminded me of the Monster Inc teaser that did the same thing. Introduced the character, the world, and the story that will unfold.
This movie was a nice surprise for me. I watched it with my wife and 7yo, and I was pretty touched by the romance (or dare I say, chemistry) that Wade and Ember shared. It was really cute, and I even shared a tear when they did their bow at the end.
I actually really liked this movie. I watched it with my girlfriend and went in with like the lowest expectations I’ve ever walked into a theater with. I was pleasantly surprised and I ended up enjoying just about all of it. 8.5/10 from me.
@@jeffdroogNot as meaningless as your comment though, but thanks anyways I suppose. In all seriousness... there was no need for you to be so rude with him, buddy
@@jeffdroog Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Just because you didn't like something doesn't mean you get to put others down and think it's okay to do that.
I will say this I saw the movie and I did like it and you should all give the animator some respect because you cannot imagine the pain and suffering the animators went through to make this movie because the characters are constantly moving🔥💧
Kids wanted to see it and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Didn't expect the love story, thought it was gonna be another "platonic friends from different worlds bring understanding to each culture" type of movie. Very pleased indeed.
Been waiting for this! Love this movie so much and definitely would see it a bunch of times. It’s so artistically vibrant and it has an amazing soundtrack
As a recent college grad this movie actually really spoke to me, honestly probably one of my favorites. It's relatable through both Wade AND Ember's life and I love the fact that they're a little older than the usual high school/college age that most romance stories use. Call me sobby but I just fell in love with the whole thing.
My daughter and I enjoyed this movie. I mean, I didn't actually want to see it initially and only did because my child wanted to see it, but I was surprisingly entertained. Cute movie.
Great movie for the family to enjoi together. I had no idea this movie was coming out I saw a poster about it and knew it was a must see. Thanks for the video and Easter eggs. Now I wanna see it again!!!
Same. It's not actually even culturally relevant to me, but the significance of it still hit me square in the chest - a rare happening at what's basically a family cartoon. So good.
Coming from immigrant parents myself , I get the struggle to not disappoint and to want to do everything to help your parents out. This movie captured it beautifully with a nice twist
This releasing before Father’s Day was perfect due to the themes at play but sucks it’s in competition with other movies especially movies with a built fanbase
Them releasing it so near across the spider verse might not have been the best decision. It’s a completely different genre but it’s animation too so it had steep Competition
I loved this film. I wasn't sure about it going in because I strongly dislike romances, but it was great. Highly recommend. I cried, and I rarely cry at anything.
I loved this movie. Based on the trailers, I was not enthusiastic and waited for it to be on Disney+ (and would have waited for video of D+ wasn’t a thing). After seeing it, I wish I had gone to the theater!
I just saw the movie tonight and i loved it! I don't understand the "Zootopoa ripoff" cridticisms becuase.... Its not. Sure, theres a fictional city and the story deals with a type of prejudice, but thats really where the similarities end. I know people "ship" Judy and Nick but Zootopia wasnt like a love story. The stories are compeltely different. I digress 😅. I loved the movie and the Pixar Short before it. 9/10 would recomend. Better than Lightyear
I love this movie!!! It was such a good romanc story ❤❤ And I love the immigrant story, the world building, everything! Tha ks for this video! What a wonderful way to recap the movie
I loved this movie and I went to see it with my two Asian friends and their faces of annoyance/amusement at the line about ember speaking well were so funny because they’ve had that exact experience
I do love this movie cause it tackles some MAJOR issues but deliver suitable to watch by youngster. Personally, it takes some asian culture like India, south Korean, and many more. Also, the LGBTQ stuff and most important about how minority facing majority, either between poor or rich people. Honorable mention, when ember hide in blanket and wade found her, they stand in front of door written A113
Well done! When it came out all the doomsayers were saying it was a disaster. Now, with it approaching near half a billion $, and it hadn't opened in Korea or Japan, it certainly is no failure.
I really love this movie and have already watched it a good 5/6 times, however my friend didn't rate it much. It's already one of my comfort films, it's just beautiful to watch and the story is cute. I hope there's a sequel at some point.
I feel like this movie got swamped over all the other movies that came out around it. Now that I was able to watch it at home, I absolutely love it. If it came out at a different time of the year instead of jam packed in the middle in-between all these other blockbusters it would've gotten more attention
If embers dad passes i want embers mom to get with wades security guard! 😂 "your surprisingly good at your job"... "your suprisingly fast for your age" idk, friends at least please. 🤞
So I've rewatched this movie like 5 times since it got released on streaming, and I'm wondering if Wade's "thought bubble" was to play the crying game so he can confess his feelings for Ember!
i notice here in FLORIDA (the south) that seems most spicy food is watered down and see the mild stuff is always sold out i thught southern peaople liked SPICY.

Actually, the trailers failed the movie. A true, accurate trailer would have gotten more people, I think.

Gotta be honest, I think everyone went to this movie with low expectations, but came out with a pleasant feeling in their heart.
I saw this opening weekend with my niece and we absolutely loved it
I loved Elemental, the most pleasant surprise I've had at the movies in a while
This has become one of my fav pixar movies, its a nice comfort movie to watch. Plus the characters are really cute

I see what you did there
I really loved the creative ideas on this film. Hoping to see part 2.
Definitely one of Pixar's sleeper hits that will get more buzz on Disney+. The more I think about it, the more I like it! See it in 3d.
I really do hope it gets more attention. It’s a lil underrated rn and I think it deserves a lot more
Absolutely a sleeper hit. So much so film surpassed Across the spider-verse in the international box office numbers so that's cool.
I loved this movie! It was adorable and had a surprisingly deep emotional story. I’m also a sap for romance like this movie.
Same here. I love a cute romance story. Plus the international box office numbers of Elemental just surpassed Across the spider-verse so that's cool.
Glad you pointed out the A113 reference because I have seen the movie a few times and couldn’t find it. No wonder!
Kids wanted to see it and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Didn't expect the love story, thought it was gonna be another "platonic friends from different worlds bring understanding to each culture" type of movie. Very pleased indeed.
this movie makes me feel validated. I relate to both ember and wade. I think this world needs more water people i think right now
This movie was so good. Very underrated.
Been waiting for this! Love this movie so much and definitely would see it a bunch of times. It’s so artistically vibrant and it has an amazing soundtrack
I loved it, wife loved it, we were both crying so much and hugged and it was lovely!
After crying for the last 2 minuets of the video I’m definitely going to watch it now it hit REALLY close to my first generation soul lol
Did you see it?! (I think marketing dropped the ball a bit in signaling what an important movie this is for 1st/2nd gen immigrant families.)

I’m not gonna lie. People say they cried in barbie, and I had 0 emotions while in this one I felt myself tear up when wade evaporated. Wow.
This was such an incredible movie!!!
I loved this movie so sweet Wade’s line about temper will be one line I keep in my heart for awhile and use with kids am around
I saw this over the weekend and I thought I was a lovely and beautiful movie. I don't know why it's not doing better
I watched this movie in 3D and it was so amazing! What a lovely movie, highly recommended!

I really enjoyed watching it. I would like to see more if they have a good story to tell.

9:03 The water bulge is his knee
Nah, it might be his PAINIS
I wish I saw it sooner. What a wonderful story.
That A113 Easter egg was pretty clever
Being an immigrant this movie reflected with me a ton, I lost it big time at the end with the bow.
Same. It's not actually even culturally relevant to me, but the significance of it still hit me square in the chest - a rare happening at what's basically a family cartoon. So good.

i saw it today & enjoyed it immensely. i was hoping that you would do a breakdown on the film.
So glad you did this one!!! This is such a great and relatable story
9:09 I think it’s Wade’s PINGAS
I loved this movie. Based on the trailers, I was not enthusiastic and waited for it to be on Disney+ (and would have waited for video of D+ wasn’t a thing). After seeing it, I wish I had gone to the theater!

Fun fact ember is voiced by same va as miorine from gundam witch from mercury english dub
I actually loved this animation I am just from watching it
I loved this movie and I went to see it with my two Asian friends and their faces of annoyance/amusement at the line about ember speaking well were so funny because they’ve had that exact experience
I honestly enjoyed it. My husband could relate to it. His parents are super anti lgbt and didnt come out til after we started dating.
His parents did nothing wrong😊

Still waiting for this movie to go to streaming, this is the closest I can get to watching it without spending more money :)
It was a great movie i can wait to get it on dvd.
Honestly, this movie was a beautiful modern adaptation of the “Romeo and Juliet” Story. It was so well adapted all the way to the sacrifice scene.
This movie was amazing. I highly recommend everyone to watch
2:06 Gah Lee! I never would have seen that Easter Egg! 😂
Woah woah woah woah!.... You're not going to bring up crop dusters? As in the rival team of the wind breakers? Come on thats Gold
I think a part 2 is necessary with ember and wade together
This movie spoke so well to the immigrant experience and interracial couples so well.
Yes and yes!
6:52 I think we all know "The Good Element" is the sequel to the Fifth Element.
I loved it. Such a cute movie.
