PLEASE READ: Many have pointed out that I overlooked RANDY JACKSON's contribution to "Shining Star" (on Against The Law). I appreciate the feedback! To clarify: my goal with this video wasn’t to create an exhaustive list of every bassist who ever played a single note on a STRYPER song. Instead, I focused on highlighting players who, in my opinion, played a significant role in the band’s journey. I’m sure there were session players and others who laid down individual tracks. If you know of others, feel free to share them in the comments-I always appreciate learning more. Thanks for understanding the purpose behind this video!
Hey, I'm really glad you enjoyed the video! Another brother made a comment and shared something that I didn't know, Randy Jackson played bass on one song on the AGAINST THE LAW album! It was just one song, but still that's seven bass players! Crazy! Thank you so much for watching and sharing, metal blessings!
I remember in 1984 I knew someone who had Y&BA. I was totally blown away. I’m not a Christian but ever since hearing that recording I’ve bought every single album they put out, seen them on every tour including the ones after Mike left and Oz took over lead vocals. My music collection can’t be without these guys ever.
That's pretty amazing that you've seen them live that many times, especially during those lean years in the '90s! I know they've been a tremendous blessing in my life! Thank you for watching the video and sharing your thoughts!
Very interesting video and history of the band. I was able to see them for the first time on the 40th anniversary tour in my hometown of Anderson. Fellow Hoosier. They were amazing. Had the VIP experience. Thanks for posting this video. God bless
Love it! I grew up in Anderson! Would have loved to have been there for that show, but I just couldn't do it, as I already had tickets for Immortal Fest over Labor Day! I heard it was awesome! Having been a Stryper Fans and a musician, my band Lyonhart (@lyonhartmusick) got the opportunity to open up for Stryper in 2015 in LA at the Whisky-A-Go-Go. I guess Michael liked our music and followed our social media after that. Glad I got to cross that out on my bucket list.

I think the reason why that Stryper shirt was used as a prop in Whip It was Drew Barrymore is a Stryper fan but it's not confirmed. Also, Tim Gaines rejoined in 2010 and was part of the 25th Anniversary Tour. He also played bass on The Covering. It's hard to believe that Perry has been in the band since 2017 and has played bass on 4 albums: Even the Devil Believes, The FInal Battle, To Hell With the Amps (sometimes this one is over looked where it's an acoustic version of classic songs) and When We Were Kings. Perry said in an interview something like that he is all for or has no issue what Stryper stands for. According to Michael Sweet in an interview they went with Brad Cobb because Tim showed up unprepared and not able to play the music multiple times so they went with Brad to record THWTD AND IGWT.

Hey! Thanks so much for sharing your love for rock music. I totally get how you can enjoy KISS, Stryper, and Firehouse-musically, they all have that high-energy, arena-rock vibe, with powerful riffs and catchy melodies. There’s a lot of similarity in their sound, so it makes sense you’d be a fan of all three. However, while KISS and Firehouse have great musical talent, Stryper’s message is what really sets them apart-they’re the only band of the three that uses their platform to share a Christ-honoring message. Personally, I grew up loving KISS too! But when I surrendered my life to Jesus, I felt led to adjust my listening habits, choosing music that honored Jesus and that would fill my mind and heart with messages that build up my faith. Nope, no glory seeking hear, I know the passage you're talking about, I'm just walking in what the new testament speaks of when it says Christ gave something to be pastors soon to be teachers soon to be evangelists, etc Ephesians 4:11 and following... it's the gift God gave me and I just use that phrase, Pastor Brad as an identification, do you ever say the apostle Paul, or just the apostles? It's not a title it's just an identification. Bless you man thank you for being true to your convictions and sharing your heart!
@@gatorbite9816 Oh... okay... didn't know that... I just found that clip at the beginning of Stryper's video for "Murder by Pride" and thought it would be cool to drop in at the beginning... thanks for sharing!
I absolutely refuse to listen to anything, not one single note, from the album where they use Father God's Holy Name in such a blasphemous manner. They did it flat out to stir up controversy and to let the public know that they are still a thing. All to gain attention just to sell more albums. Sooo disappointed in them.😔😔🥺😢 Makes you wonder what comes out of their mouths just going through any ordinary day.
As I said, I think in this video, if not in this one I've said it in others, I'm not a fan of that title, but I do know what they're trying to say, taken literally, it's not blasphemy or cursing, it's a request, for God to condemn evil, which we all long for, and look forward to, oh what a glorious day that will be! But I empathize with how that title strikes you.
Stryper did Tim so wrong with letting the producer have pick playing session player come in and record the bass on those albums. I would have left too. What a bunch of weak losers to let that happen to a band member. Tim IS the bass player for Stryper.
I feel you passion... blessings brother. I don't really know all the facts... just thankful for the music and ministry the band has served up. Thanks for sharing!
@PastorBradRocks it means the band was intended for the world, to be lead to God, as opposed to Christians being entertained. They also meant that they were 4 dudes in a band that happened to be Christians. The sad thing is watching fundamentalist Christians and pastors rip them apart because they were the only band to really bridge the gap and make a huge difference. I spent 26 years in the military and the Christian army, is the only army that shoots its own wounded. Still does........ No way God is coming back to collect these Constantinian goats. Are you a sheep, goat or wolf? I am a sheepdog......
S.U.C.K. S--saved by Grace - Jesus is our Savior, lifting us from darkness! U--uplifted by His Love - We are filled with His unending love and purpose. C--chosen to Shine - Called to be lights in the world, reflecting His glory. K--kept in His Power - Held by God’s mighty strength, never alone! Thanks for the inspiration!
I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. When I refer to music as Christian, I simply mean it's music created by people who love Jesus for his glory. So if you're saying stryper is not that, I just disagree.

My email address is in the description of each video--if you ever want to reach out--feel free. Metal blessings!
Psalm 24:1 The Lord is my Pastor.
Jesus said NOT to have titles? Why do you sin?
Is it that you crave the glory?
Yeah dude, it's 23:1 but absolutely!
People are so silly. Keep up the good work sir
Wait isn't she a he now? I don't think that's in the bible.
Okay I officially have no clue what you're talking about. But I appreciate you watching the video and helping it thrive with your comment!
@@PastorBradRocks the girl with the old stryper shirt in the beginning. Identifies as a man now.
Sooo disappointed in them.😔😔🥺😢
Makes you wonder what comes out of their mouths just going through any ordinary day.
Stryper is NOT a christian band. They are a band made by Christians, big difference!!!!
Do me a favor, I'd really like to hear your thoughts on what that difference is.
@@PastorBradRocks that comes from Micheal sweet himself
@PastorBradRocks it means the band was intended for the world, to be lead to God, as opposed to Christians being entertained. They also meant that they were 4 dudes in a band that happened to be Christians. The sad thing is watching fundamentalist Christians and pastors rip them apart because they were the only band to really bridge the gap and make a huge difference. I spent 26 years in the military and the Christian army, is the only army that shoots its own wounded. Still does........ No way God is coming back to collect these Constantinian goats. Are you a sheep, goat or wolf? I am a sheepdog......
Oh lord that bass solo SUCKED!

Stryper isn’t Christian. They’re Catholic. Catholics are not Christians. Read the lyrics already…
I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. When I refer to music as Christian, I simply mean it's music created by people who love Jesus for his glory. So if you're saying stryper is not that, I just disagree.
