Benchmades don't come cheap, but Benchmade quality isn't cheap either. I use to give friends hell for paying those higher prices......until I finally bought one for myself. You won't find many brands as "American" as Benchmade, that turns out the same consistent quality. Much of the materials they utilize in Oregon City helps maintain jobs across the country.....such as S30V being made by Crucible Inc. in Syracuse, NY....or the fiberglass used in the G10 coming from a PPG plant in NC... etc.
I'm in Oregon right now and stopped by the Benchmade factory yesterday. I was like a kid in a candy store. I'm going to try and get over to Leatherman and CRKT if I have time. I'm not on vacation so time is short. you have a great series of knife factory vids!
I absolutely love the axis lock. I carry the 940 and haven't found anything to take it's place in my pocket. However I do find myself replacing the omega springs pretty frequently. But I fidget with my knife quite a bit too 👍💪🇺🇲
The series of knife makers has been wonderful. It's great they let you interview them. Problem now, is they all make great knives. How to decide which one or two to purchase. Have a good day. Give D a friendly hello for me too, please. Thanks...
Thanks Scott for doing this. I know you have fun with this stuff but it also requires time and effort. Love many knives but when I need reliable, comfortable and good performance blade I often walk away from my storage with a Benchmade. Good job!
I EDC a Benchmade 530 Pardue Ultralight similar to the one shown in the video. You were right about it being a sub 2 oz. blade. It's 1.88 oz. according to my scale.
Thank you for the company tours. I used to think Benchmade's were overpriced, however after collecting quite a few knifes and having a lot to compare them with, they are superb knives. The Axis lock alone is worth an extra $30 in my opinion, and they use good blade steels, AND they are made in the US. I would LOVE to see a machined g10 version of the Griptillian.
Its not just about cutting stuff. Its about durability, blade steel, lock strength, and just an overall better knife. A $100 Benchmade will will out live a $30 Gerber without a doubt.
Did you get a free custom knife? When my company toured our reps got super awesome rare factory only knives. kershaw is just down the road btw, hope you visited them too.
I know i'm almost a year late to the show, playing catch-up, but do you remember what knife you were EDCing when you stopped in? Would be funny to have a Spyderco clip complete with bug logo or some other hanging on your hip at the Benchmade factory. But i'm just twisted like that.
Just a slight clarification, almost nobody is happy or excited about the 62 balisong. They effectively made a lower quality knife out of lower quality materials that is still more expensive than the 42 was.
Benchmade is super good quality (i've been told) but their idea of "affordable" is ridiculously expensive. I can have 2 of the best CRKT's for the price of one benchmade.
I know you find yourself behind the camera a lot... but try not to cross your armes when your in front of the camera. 19:25 Just my .2 from someone who has history with production. But great job man. Thanks. I just moved out of Portland. It's good, but i do miss being 15mins away from Benchmade.
Given the current state of folding knife design, I feel that benchmade knife designs are a bit stale. I think that if they partnered with some of the small and popular knife makers they would do well.
I agree. A lot of their knives at this point are just slightly changed models of their older designs. And the new designs just feel gimmicky as of late.
hope your being sarcastic. Its a knife not a prey bar or screwdriver..I thought the blunt end was for rescue so you didn't stab someone cutting them out of a seat belt or get a whole in a rubber raft shit like that
BTW anybody who thinks about getting a benchmade subrosa should check out my two videos on my page about its failure to lock or open. money cant buy everything.
Love your knives, but your pricing is driving away more buyers.i own 2 real benchmades, hopefully ill own more.but ill never again pay an outrageous fee for a pocket knife again
Hey Bill Smith: NOBODY is forcing you to buy a Benchmade knife. If you don't like their prices, DON'T BUY THEM ! Their prices are set by DEMAND, not by whiners like you. If nobody wanted their knives, there wouldn't be a demand for them, and the prices would be cheaper. Since they really make awesome knives, there is a demand for them, so why don't you go down to Walmart and buy some cheap ass chinese knife made of plastic and shitty steel?
Oh, I guess because YOU think they're over priced, that nobody should buy them, and anyone who disagrees is full of it.... The market is proving YOU wrong. Benchmade is thriving, while YOU are probably not.... LOL
Bill Smith & Black Knight you're both right. They are overpriced on many of their models. However, if there wasn't a demand the price would drop. Personally, there are other American made knives, that are just as well built & designed for the money. The inflated prices do keep me from buying more Benchmade knives, but I'm not mad, because there are plenty of other American made quality knives.
Someone is buying them at those prices, otherwise they wouldn't be in business. Who the fuck are you to say whether or not something is over priced? They've been making knives a LOT longer than you have, and they obviously are making quality, which isn't cheap. Until they go out of business, your whining about their prices will do nothing except make you look like a stupid cheap fuck!
Dont say that mecca is a holy pkace not a place to be played with all the time plus its offensive to my kind please firgive me for being so rude but please acknowledge other peoples culture before writing something like that
I said the same thing until I bought the Adamas 2750. I've had both the 2750 and 275(auto and non), and I just bought a mini infidel. Once you hold it in your hand and use it, it all makes sense. So far, I have had amazing luck with the D2 still on all three of these knives. Plus, the 275 was designed after my unit. The "diamond" they refer to is an ode to the old orange diamond with a 2 in it used by 2nd bat. Hell of a knife and I recommend it! Added bonus is that part of the money goes to help my fallen brother's families which is a major plus for us all.
Benchmades don't come cheap, but Benchmade quality isn't cheap either. I use to give friends hell for paying those higher prices......until I finally bought one for myself. mixflip If you make it to CRKT, say hi to Ben and Joel for me. :)
Great video except when ypu kept trying to outsmart the dealer... just shhh
Why do I love knives and guns so much lol
I absolutely love the axis lock. I carry the 940 and haven't found anything to take it's place in my pocket. However I do find myself replacing the omega springs pretty frequently. But I fidget with my knife quite a bit too 👍💪🇺🇲
griptilian sheepsfoot. best blade I've ever had.
Ha to decide between the Sheepsfoot, Drop, and Tanto and I went with the Tanto but the Sheepsfoot was a close 2nd
Same
The series of knife makers has been wonderful. It's great they let you interview them. Problem now, is they all make great knives. How to decide which one or two to purchase. Have a good day. Give D a friendly hello for me too, please. Thanks...
Is it best to send back to benchmade to resharpen? And if so how long do they usually have it?
Thanks Scott for doing this. I know you have fun with this stuff but it also requires time and effort. Love many knives but when I need reliable, comfortable and good performance blade I often walk away from my storage with a Benchmade. Good job!
My hometown! Oregon city bred and proud of it
I EDC a Benchmade 530 Pardue Ultralight similar to the one shown in the video. You were right about it being a sub 2 oz. blade. It's 1.88 oz. according to my scale.
I use the mini Virage! I like it! easy to carry and light
I don't normally love Benchmade, but the Griptilian is still badass (especially as the RSK) and now I really want to order a custom Grip!!!
Thank you for the company tours. I used to think Benchmade's were overpriced, however after collecting quite a few knifes and having a lot to compare them with, they are superb knives. have been using a benchmade 710 for the last few weeks, such a amazing knife, benchmade has great function knives, great video!
Thanks for the cool series. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only viewer who's jealous of your trip. Looking forward to those giveaways.
Mani wish I lived near the Benchmade factory. Benchmades my favorite company.
Well played, sir. Well played.
Great Vid bud.. Thanks for all the work you had to do to pull these store visits off. Great content.
I've been wanting the exact same thing (G10 Griptilian). I'd buy one in a second.
I want to see all their gold class knives someday.
Great tours! On to the Leatherman retail store.
I think Matt's been chasing the dragon 🐉
Thanks for these tours they have been really informative!
Finally the benchmade one! I've been looking forward to this. :)
Omg grip double color , i want this
Did you tell them you bought a Chinese Ganzo 710? I'm sure they'd be thrilled you support Chinese companies, that make counterfeit Benchmades.
You want his jock don’t you? LOL
The 810 contego is by far the best knife benchmade has ever made!!
Did you get a free custom knife? When my company toured our reps got super awesome rare factory only knives. kershaw is just down the road btw, hope you visited them too.
I don't think anyone is "really digging" the benchmade 62
Ever.
Nicely done, Scout! Really enjoyed this series.
I know i'm almost a year late to the show, playing catch-up, but do you remember what knife you were EDCing when you stopped in? Would be funny to have a Spyderco clip complete with bug logo or some other hanging on your hip at the Benchmade factory. But i'm just twisted like that.

Nice blades~
Whys Keyshawn able to ship a knife back to the customer for free after sharpening but bench made asks for 5 buck?
I know you find yourself behind the camera a lot... but try not to cross your armes when your in front of the camera. 19:25 Just my .2 from someone who has history with production. But great job man. Thanks. I just moved out of Portland. It's good, but i do miss being 15mins away from Benchmade.
awesome!
Are the knives at the benchmade factory cheaper, or comparable to other stores?
Great knives, pricey yes, but nice. Thanks for the cool video!
To me the bone collector is a movie (and a book) haha.
Great Video.
Oh man well played :D
They're made in the USA. By definition, according to the FTC, to use that claim, you have to have "all or virtually all" domestic components.
Awesome
Interesting.. I thought the purpose of the blunt tip on the triage knife was so you don't stab the person you are saving..
Did they show you their quality control
area? Oh they don’t have one.
Been there:) yay
I wonder how many knives he picked up before he left that day?
That sounds like Keller Williams
I'm under the assumption that Don Adler is Jim Adler "The Texas Hammer"'s cousin or something. If you're from Texas you'll get this. Lol
i thought benchmade trash cans were made out of 154-cm turns out they make them out of the same materials as the griptillians handles
Think the intro is kaki king.
Are they USA made, or USA made using global components?
What's the intro music?
its barrage lol. and i luv it as well
an aluminum grip would be sweet
When he started "Hello my friends..." I thought it was going to continue "...this is FPS Russia!"
guy almost stabbed himself with that bali lol
Matt needs to visit my barber
The intro music made by balls shrivel.
Keyshawn!!! Lol Kershaw
Sorry, but I never had the chance to be first before. Had to do it! :oP
Hope you went to see Kershaw, they are in my opinion the best high value makers atm.
that adamas looks sexy in tan with black blade. too bad Hawaii has a no automatic law
Yea idk why I wrote Virage. lol too tired ahaha

You pay for what you get that's just how it works.
Adamus would be pronounced ah-dah-moose
balisongs
Im sure Benchmade makes good steel, but the handles on their fixed blades leaves much to be desired.
Like leatherman....
These knives are sharp and real good quality but way over priced
Someone is buying them at those prices, otherwise they wouldn't be in business. Who the fuck are you to say whether or not something is over priced? No worries man, they make knives for the price range your looking for, they are called Buck, Kershaw and Gerber, enjoy!
Dont say that mecca is a holy pkace not a place to be played with all the time plus its offensive to my kind please firgive me for being so rude but please acknowledge other peoples culture before writing something like that
Sssssmmfffffff, buy a Spyderco..
First!
U should have given the rep a tissue... Blow ur nose bruh
not just that you use plastic on handles paying 100$ plus and you buy plastic
1 lock type, damn that is some progressive engineering. Too bad it is so effing shite. Lockup and especially weak detent.
Laeveld Paraatheid what detent?🤣
I found other knives same kind of steel and half the price I still don't understand why benchmade are so exspensive what a scam..
+travis lewin
love how people advertise their ignorance at every opportunity
I highly doubt you found knives with the same quality
Ok benchmade is the only knife with that kind of steel.....
Put it this way I have 7 benchmade knifes that I got as gifts I will gladly sell them to you at 20$off the price they cost new
travis lewin who else has the axis lock?
$200 plus for a knife heck no. Nice blades but you can do the same thing with a $30 knife. Thanks for the vid though
ignorance would be spending that much money on a knife when you can get another brand that is USA made and just as good qaulity.
Never owned a Benchmade and never will. 10 Ganzo's to 1 Benchmade? This isn't rocket science to me.
+arrkhal HAHAHAHAHA

+Spartan ADV D2 steel. Auto correct.
BENCHMADE = overpriced
Think the intro is kaki king.
