Hello. Another nice knife. And another shout out from Paddy. I for one am enjoying your vids. Good health and stay safe.
Paddy has been a true gent doing these shout outs and Im very greatful. Im so happy people are joining.
Agree with non threatening point. Good vid.
Thanks mate, love your channel mate. I brought the zebra after watching yours
Hi Clark, (blimey, this got quite long!) I saw the the Zebra wood knife on Google and thought it had a good look but could only find one picture, and very few details, even on Whitby's site!. So I scoured RUclips and came across your video. I would never otherwise have had a decent look at it, would never have known that it had a chunky 3mm spine, was scandi with a micro bevel, and would never have seen the handle contours and heard how comfortable it was. I had bought a Boker Plus Worldwide, which I liked a lot, for nearly twice the price, but that over powered spring snapped on me after about three weeks. I sent it back and got refunded. So, thanks to you I bought the Whitby. It arrived today. Just as you described, the tolerances aren't perfect, but only by a hair and more than acceptable for under £15 inc. delivery. I've spent several hours working on the blade, a recent and most relaxing and quite hobby, and aimlessly whittling away at a piece of very hard beech. I've gotten the blade edge to cut dangling loo paper with a clean cut quite well, spent a good while on the beech and then returned to the loo paper to still get that clean cut (Edit; Nope I got carried away here, see below.). I am delighted with this little gem of a knife. My thanks to you for your thorough overview. All the best to you and take care.
Thanks for the lovely comment Im really happy this helped you, Im very happy with my whitbys, the smoother resin one is very nice too in the pocket. They are amazing knives glad I found them, a proper bargain.
@@clarky4492 For the sake of complete honesty, and for other possible readers, I want to dial back a bit on the 'getting the same clean cut' in free hanging loo paper after a good while working the beech. I got carried away in my enthusiasm ... I can't replicate that ... but after a few strops it will cut the loo paper cleanly if it's laid flat on a piece of wood.
Hi, just subed. Paddy sent me.
Nice video, and nice to see new content from Europe. Looking forward to your next video! 👍 🇳🇴
Thanks so much for joining lots to come.
Do like the review. If the copper is confused!! 🤣🤣 Ordered the Whitby today!
looks good for a UK edc
Why do you think you need good reason to carry the Lars falt? It's slip joint and 3 inches so falls into the same category and does not need good reason
Hi another shout from Paddy,I liked your review please keep them coming .I brought one of these from Amazon they are a nice budget knife but for me not an edc as I have small hands and find the handle to chunky but perfect for out in the woods
Thanks for joining got lots to come. There are a few shapes of whitby handles that may work for you. The alox cadet may be good as thats intended to be smaller.
Clarkys Cutters hi I’ve got lots of knives of all different types including saks I’ve been collecting for years but thanks for the advice
Useful video, there are not many etc Scandinavian grinds
Good review, thanks very much. Did you get the Whitby resin version and if so is the handle the same size as the wood version reviewed here? I’m asking because the wood version blade is listed as 2.75” and the resin version is listed as 2.5. The shorter blade isn’t a problem for me but I like the look and size of the handle in this review.
Hi nice video. The Enzo PK70 scandi in D2 would be another alternate. Hard to find though. I prefer the flat grind versions for edc though. Paddy sent me over. Pop over and see my channel if UK Legal knives are your bag. It’s mostly what I do.
I have subs you mate, I love following knife channels I tend to buy only now after watching peoples vids
I just got the wood handled Whitby and put a full scandi on it with whetstones. I've got a K-bar Gila which is 420 stainless and the Whitby feels a lot harder. It obviously won't be super high quality at that price but I got it razor sharp with a mirror finish and it feels like it's going to hold an edge pretty well. Also, treat the handle with linseed oil and it looks great, too.
Hey! How well did your whitby knife hold an edge?
440stainless soft doesn’t hold an edge
TBS aren't 440
