Glad you're crackin' on. My advice (though in practise is not easy for most) is to do everything you can to not let your motivation to do the thing you love be influenced by how many views your next video gets. That way lies doom. Find something else to measure whether this endeavour is worthwhile to continue. To name a few: the value your find within certain messages in the comments, the new music discoveries that you wouldn't have found without your channel, the occasional sneak peaks of new music from labels, the ability to capture your first time hearing certain excepional songs that you can then look back on years from now. Great that your LP video got a lot of traction and fueled you in some way with the view count, but that warm feeling is fleeting... and the answer will feel like "I just need to make another 160k video again and then it will feel like I'm growing again...' and then maybe you focus on just artists with huge fan bases, and maybe that's ok... but I think if you want this to be truly sustainable as something to do forever you need to decide the focus of your channel for yourself: don't let the audience's view counts steer your content's focus for you (risk here that you'll end up making content you're not that into just because your audience wants it, and that is likely unsustainable if it doesn't sync with your actual content passion). Just my thoughts for what they're worth 💙
That's really great advice! Definitely something I've tried to keep in mind. I think I'm still figuring out what exactly those other motivators are for me. I think the thing that I didn't say in the video was that in concert with dwindling views, I was also feeling the dreaded "burnout". I had just been grinding so much, trying to put out videos every single weekday, and not only was it not sustainable, but for whatever reason it wasn't connecting with people. I think I've got a better hold on things now. I try to only make things when I really want to, and follow where my passions lead. It just so happens that I'm loving these LP videos and so is the audience. I'm also trying to do more things to foster that sense of community and connection so that I'm not just making videos for the faceless algorithm but for Steve, and Alex, and Kyra, as well as for myself. I appreciate you man! I'd love to chat more sometime!
Glad you've been able to stick around man. I tend to gravitate to your reactions of music because you don't act like every song is the greatest, most groundbreaking thing to ever exist. You listen and really seem to get into the groove of whatever you're listening to and you do find ways to appreciate the bands you might not enjoy in other aspects. Thanks for making the community that much more fun and introducing me to a few bands here and there :) I don't tend to request bands/albums but one album I remember you commented on not too long ago was All That Remains. You reacted to their recent-ish song 'Divine' and said you were going to react to their OG album 'The Fall of Ideals' but never did. At least I never saw anything come up in search results for it. Would absolutely love to hear your thoughts on the whole album as I think it is one album that has literally no skips. It's a perfect album. Anyway thanks David! Sorry to hear about your loss in the family or friends. That's really rough :(
I started watching reactions for similar reasons. A few years ago when I was getting into metal I didn’t have friends who also enjoyed the genre. And I discovered reactions and it was like discovering new music with someone you vibed with. I’ve related to a lot of your content and enjoy your stuff, so I’m glad you’re sticking around! Hope you stay well and have fun with new ideas and new music!! 😊

Those were a while ago! Still some of my favorite videos though.

I discovered you with your Linkin Park reactions! Thanks for the nice content! Keep it up!
Looking forward for more reactions and other content
Same!
Thanks so much!
I honestly discovered you after the LP Stream, just as you listened to a thousand suns! I loved it. Hope you keep it up! I am here to stay.
