    When some people buy new appliances they look for unboxing/review videos. I skip that step and go right to a repair video. Repair videos tell everything about an item's quality and repairability.
    Thanks for this Craig. I'm ordering one of these little suckers for my desk right now with the confidence I can fix it and it'll last more than a week, lol.

    Thank you, this is amazing. You’re the only person I’ve met touching on this issue and honestly I’m really grateful you have, I can finally fix my mini fridge and you’ll be helping so many others too, thank you!

    I just bought one, received it in the mail today. Plugged it up, turned on cool switch. House was 70° F, I checked and fan was blowing. Let it sit for about 4 hours running. Opened door and felt inside against the walls, it was barely any temperature difference than room temperature. I noticed there was thermal grease on the inside screws and inside wall of fridge. I think I got a dud.

      Sounds like you may have a bad peltier, however when you feel it inside, see if back inner wall is colder than the sides, the cooling happens about dead center on the back of the inside of the fridge, if you notice that's a lot cooler than sides its working but perhaps not correctly if its taking that long, guess you could put a thermometer in it if you really are having a hard time sensing the temp change, mine seems to keep my beverages icy cold if I put them in cold, I have not tried cooling anything from a warm state just yet. Thanks for Watching!

      @@Craigsdocks thanks for replying. I am going to give it another try over the long Memorial Day weekend as it’s out at my parents shop. I have some projects lined up and will be around it all weekend. I just have a gut feeling it isn’t going to get to chill. Fingers crossed

      I checked mine after I replied to you, I turned it on for under 5 minutes, reached inside to touch back there are some screws there in the center inside the refridge on back wall and the screws were ice cold, so I guess if yours isn't doing that something is sure wrong

      @@Craigsdocks I sent mine back to wal mart and had them send me another one. It arrived yesterday and wow, it got freezing cold in about 5-6 minutes. There was definitely something wrong with the other fridge. The new fridge is awesome.

    Peltier devices have lots of potential for personal cooling aplications.
    Maybe a "coolshirt" like the ones race car driver use, but without having to connect it to an ice box!

    Thanks for the video! I have a similar model, worked wonderfully for a year until today. When I turn the cool switch on the green light blinks and I can see the fan trying to move but it won't. I took it apart similarly to this and wonder if I ought to try replacing the fan. This is new to me so I'm learning as I go! Do you have a video where you demonstrate how to check the voltage to narrow down the location of the problem?

    • @Craigsdocks
      @Craigsdocks  3 года назад

      Well if those fan leads are soldered onto a board like mine you can touch the solder joints positive and negative on the board with a meter to check, or else just carefully slice the insulation off the two wire leads to the fan and check right there, seems to me its a fan motor thats nearly burned up, but I guess it could be low voltage coming from board and isn't enough to get the fan going, be careful inside there poking around when its plugged in .. there is high voltage in places

      This is the issue i am having too, it's less than 2 years old, but probably has a year's worth of run time on it. I have it at work and my maintenance guy says it's probably the fan motor. Might be cheaper to just buy a new fridge though

    It looks like it was designed to use two pelter coolers, but one got budgeted out.

    • @Craigsdocks
      @Craigsdocks  Месяц назад

      Yeah saw that, perhaps they use the same board for larger ones and just use the same ones on every size

    • @reluttr2
      @reluttr2 Месяц назад

      Do you think it would be possible to upgrade the pelter with a upgraded stacked one like the TEC2-19006 and get better performance without to much fuss?
      The only thing that I think might be a issue is that the double layered pelter uses 6 amps, and im unsure of the specs of the one that comes in the fridge.

    If you see this a quick? for you; where the grate is on the backside would it be beneficial to add an export fan of the same size as intake, like I do on a computer case? That would seriously help reduce the heat.

    I work on electronics as a hobby, as far as I think running the fan constantly will seriously shorten product life I understand why it has to be done but I would say that I think even with a good fan that service life is about 6 months for the price of the mini fridge and environmental impact once it gets tossed it is not worth it

    • @Craigsdocks
      @Craigsdocks  5 месяцев назад

      Well this type of thing I don't believe would be a good 24/7 type of item either, it has the cord for in the car so I think its best used for use when you need it type of thing ie sporadic, however computer fans seem to be able to last quite a while inside computers

    Awesome and helpful video! The fan had gotten clogged with dust and was kind of stuttering, unable to spin. I cut the fan's wires and tested with a multimeter, I get 0 volts reading. So it looks like my problem is a different one. Any idea how to fix?

      Parts list well I doubt that's around, Id just measure it and buy a comparable one that will fit, can't be to hard to make that work, the fan I just looked at what it had inside it and ordered one that was comparable, Thanks for Watching!

    Mine doesn't turn on anymore and that white square wet thing isn't in the center it's on the mental grey thing that helps the heat escape It is the opposite of the fridge you're working on which it was but out of nowhere the light began blinking and it turns off no more green light also the nails the two nails that keep the mental thing in the center were rusty both nails

    • @laurahurst3863

      It's just defrosting. the square inside on the back can have ice build up on it when the fridge is full, so it will defrost it. I've moved things away from that area and haven't had the issue since
