    It's a nice project that suffers the problem that most nice projects suffer from, it probably cost you more to make than had you just gone out and bought one.
    But you do get the satisfaction of knowing you built it yourself, even though it probably cost two or three times the price of one off the shelf.

    • @IAmCjcj11
      @IAmCjcj11 5 лет назад +28

      I see this valuable in applications where you need absolute custom shapes for retrofitting in awkward spots, I’m thinking of doing something similar to this but for 5-6 drinks and it pulls out like a tip out drawer from say a desk or something.
      Is it economically better than buying a mini fridge to put next to a desk? Helll no lmao. But sure would be cool as hell.
      I looked at the parts mentioned and was actually surprised at the low cost of the main components (power supply, cooling modules, thermostat), most of the other stuff is pretty cheap or optional depending what you want to do

    If I can scavenge basic supplies from an old fridge and look through all the junk I already have, this might be super cheap for me to build. All I need is the cooling modules and the thermostat. I'm loving the "open at top" idea and the snack shelve. If I'm patient and wait until I start my custom gaming desk, I can retrofit an alternate design of this into a built in fridge/snack area. Ok ok ok ok ok ok.... Yes, that's definitely the plan. Saving video to playlist. Thank you.

      Hi, dont waste your time or energy. This barely does a decent job when its capacity is 5 L. So you will waste money, it has a pathetic COP ( co efficiency of power) rating, like below 10%. Regular AC have 180% COP, I guess.

    Very good. Because the top is transparent, I think an external button to light inside could be a good idea. This way, the person could choose what to pick without open the fridge. Maybe this could be useful in a larger model. Another thing, you made the back door removable, but a cut in the acrylic sidewall would avoid the need to remove the aluminum corners together (sorry for my poor english).

Slowly we are breaking down the gender barriers that have tried to keep females out of certain professions for millennia. It takes demonstrations such as this to show how stupid it is to try to hold down 50% of the population. Every girl (or boy) who sees this will think “I can do that”. Imagine twice as many smart, capable makers to carry us into the future. You got my subscription.

      As long as people like you make a big deal out of things like this, there will always be stereotypes. I just saw someone good with tools and thought the fridge looks cool. You instead decided to focus on whatever was between the legs. That's how you create disparity. Regarding barriers, bullshit. It was debunked so many times that at this point I start to think that you guys either live inside an echo-chamber, where new information is policed/censured, or you're just in denial. Nobody gives a damn nowadays about your sex, beside professional victims profiting out of it. You think I wouldn't buy this from her or hire her just because she's a girl?! Are we in the 40's again? I won't subscribe tho, that's for sure. Not because of sex, but because she put a 'favorite' on this rubbish comment and that says a lot.

    My Coleman 40qt gets down to 38°f. That's with the original 54watt peltier module and upgraded fans and an ambient temp of 65°f. That not bad I've had this cooler over 20 years and recently did the fan upgrade and replaced the thermal compound which really didn't make much difference it already was working this well . I was thinking about replacing the module with a 100watt unit just to see if it will get those temps with higher ambient temp in the 75-80 range.

    Awesome, best peltier fridge on RUclips.

  • @schweens
    @schweens 7 лет назад +8

    Based on your wirings, the fan directions on the big fans looks incorrect. Both fans are supposed to face towards the heat sink so it creates a high air pressure. This high air pressure creates a high temperature that gets heat sinked. Otherwise you're relying solely on the peltier. I bought the same refrigeration module, and noticed this.

    • @Nerdforge
      @Nerdforge  7 лет назад +3

      Interesting, I'll check that out. Maybe it can perform even better!

    • @schweens
      @schweens 7 лет назад +5

      oops. sorry i had it reverse. i meant they should be facing away from each other. this creates a low pressure, and cold temperature that is transferred via heat sink into the fridge and dispersed using the smaller fan. and according to this link it goes down up to -5 degrees bit.ly/2klKyye

      Now what you can do is buy this special case, which is like almost $1,000 btw, it takes the main part that makes the fridge cold through an insulated tube, and puts it ontop of the CPU. So any of the condistation is trapped inside the tube and only touching the top of the cpu, and makes it safe. Or if you're feeling adventurous just use liquid nitrogen !

    • @maxslab8774
      @maxslab8774 7 лет назад +2

      While your idea seems cool. It would never work. Since the air inside the fridge contains water vapor, heat from the PC mixing with the cool air from the fridge will condense the water and cause a short circuit. Professional overclockers who use similar liquids to cool avoid this by putting Vaseline on the components. The problem with this though is that its only a temporary solution.

    I think as in this vid you'll have like $75-80 plus time in it?
    Aluminum tape, not a good insulator or durable. I'd line it with plexiglass painted on the backside or some white tile, laminate, etc

    Very nice DIY project! I think i've seen those thermoelectric cooling devices being sold in banggood. The seller bundled those with TEC1-12706 peltier module, which is a weak and less efficient module in my opinion. But if we only wished to have our drinks chilled then, the 12706 is fine. Thanks! This DIY project is in my to-do list.

    This is absolutely a great video. RUclips nowadays is full of click-baiting videos uploaded by crooks that claim they made a "DIY pocket computer", "DIY 3D printer". But the video is just 5-10 mins of putting a ready-to-assemble kit they bought from amazon. That is NOT "DIY", that's nothing but a waste of time. On the other hand, this video is outstanding because it involves original thoughts and designs that actually make sense. The crafting is also very impressive. I love this video as much as I hate those full of hype bullshit "DIY" videos.
