Jesu, my joy,
the pasture of my heart,
Jesu, my desire,
oh how long, how long
has my heart been afeared
and yearning for you!
Lamb of God, my bridegroom,
nothing else on earth shall be
dearer to me than you.
Under your protection
from the attacks
of all foes I am freed.
Let Satan scent his quarry,
let the foe be incensed,
Jesus shall stand by me.
Though thunderbolts and lightning strike,

Despite the ancient dragon,
