  • Hi, in this 2nd part of my 'Fisher & Paykel Condenser Dryer' videos I just keep going from my Part 1 video where I actually fix the dryer. I basically keep pulling apart the 'Fisher and Paykel DE8060P2' parts dryer that I used to fix my good one. I do this to pull parts off and to get a good understanding on how this particular dryer is put together. Hope someone finds this helpful.

Thanks for making this video, I have to replace the pulley and belt on mine and this has saved me a ton of time 👍

Hey Isky, thx for making this vid. I have the same dryer that had the tension wheel collapse on itself (made a massive mess) but thanks to the details in your vid, it was easy to pull out the motor, replace the wheel and get it back together again, all working. So much money saved! Just in time for winter too.

Mate no worries at all! and well done 👍 This is one of my first ever videos and a little embarrassing. But really glad it's still helping people. Funny you should comment on this machine, I plan on releasing a video very shortly about this very dryer and why that wheel constantly breaks. Cheers mate 😎

Hey Isky, any chance you can share your thoughts on that stupid plastic wheel in this dryer? Mine has just broken another one and it feels like a balance related issue but I'll be buggered if I can figure out exactly how. @@DIYDumpRat

@@bozz1e Hey buddy apologies for the delayed reply. My life's bit of a mess at the moment thanks to a recent house fire. Hey are talking about the blue wheel I'm replacing in this video or the white plastic idler? Sounds like you are talking about the idler. Unfortunately I've never had to replace that part so can't really shed much light. But I do know that with normal clotges dryers unless you also clean and get the shaft it slides on to nice and clean it can quite often lead to the next idler breaking down.
The shaft can get like a residue stuck on it most people aren't aware of. Over a few months it can lead to another failure. I normally use wet sand paper. 400 grit to clean it before putting the next idler on. I do it in quite a few of my Simpson dryer videos. Hope this helps mate.

Another good vid. Re the capacitors they could still hold a mains voltage charge even after been unplugged. Before you possibly discharge the capacitor through yourself ( possibly fatal ) use a well insulated handled screw driver to short out the capacitor terminals. They are usually discharged, but why take the risk.

G'day Robert, no worries mate. Apologies for the delay reply. My home almost burnt down due to an electric blanket fault and has set me back quite a bit.

3:05 question for you if you have the answer. My partner just pulled apart our 8kg fisher and Paykel heat pump dryer as it was making a clanging sound with every drum rotation and he found it was this copper clip thing at the back centre of the drum. Didn't appear to be doing a lot except lifting and flicking the bolt every turn. He decided to just bend it back out of the way but I'm hoping it's not there for some serious reason. Looks like this clip you have on the back here at 3:05, any ideas? Thanks so much

Those dryer bowls would make good fire pits being stainless steel. Just take the plastic off make stand and boom get mash mellows on a stick

Very interesting video, I have wondered if you were ever going to do any videos on Condenser Dryers.

I have this model which keeps saying the door is open when it’s not? Do I just need to replace the door switch? If so how do I do that?

How do you rate this machine? I've found one on clearance.

    • @DIYDumpRat

Not very well Ivan. I class it as the worst condenser dryer on the market. In fact I've got a video coming out explaining why.
It all comes down to the fact it does not auto reverse rotate. Meaning it only rotates in one direction (no tangle free mode). This is the main reason the blue idler wheel disintegrates on the same side. In fact out of all the condenser dryers available this is the one I see being thrown out the most. Gorgeous machine though. If you can get it for free or next to nothing and are wiling to do future repairs on it yourself I'd definitely grab one.

@DIYDumpRat the DH9060PG2 fisher paykel has a bulky mode, which apparently does 2 directions. This is the one on clearance.

@@ivana6141 I don't know enough about the different heat pump models sorry. I always say to people who want to get a heat pump not to lol. When they get overly complicated then a lot of the time they become unrepairable.
I have a Miele heat pump that I found and really like. Has a slight sqeak when spinning but it doesn't bother me.
