Good video Sandy! You are right, playing against lobbers can be tricky. A good strategy is to aim the ball to their backhand foot. So left foot for right hand players, and vice versa. Backhand lobs are harder to consistently be accurate, giving you a better chance to receive a short lob. You hit the nail in the head with your commentary on looking at what your opponent is going to do so you can prepare early.
Great advice! I will put my hand up and admit that I am a lobber......that is, I use the lob to attack my opponents, get them away from the net. I look for a slow, ineffective serve - that is going straight back over the server’s partner’s head, as close to the corner as I can get it, or bang on the centre to tempt both to head for the same ball. I don’t like a lobbing war, so look for the bajada opportunity on their first or second lob. If it’s a poor lob, plenty of return from my back wall, they often feel they still have the right to take the net, but a good bajada down the centre often goes through! Addictive game, isn’t it? I played a match this morning, watched this video late evening and I want to get back on court right now (next match in two days!). Beautifully explained throughout, many thanks!
That is great use of the lob and I am not suggesting it is a bad tactic. It's good if your opponents allow you to do it!! It's a great game and incredibly addictive, I have a training match this morning and cannot wait ;)
A tactic I usually do vs lobbers is to hit shots that will bounce twice before hitting the back glass , since its a lot harder to hit good lobs before the glass. So I like to hit my bandeja slow and usually in the middle so it’s harder for them to lob cross as-well giving them less margins
Good work as always! To summerize I guess being more aggressive was One of the Keys. But more aggressive shots means taking more risks and having less energy to recover. Don't you see a problem with that?
I guess it depends how effective you can be attacking. Because if an attacking shot is 20% more energy (for example) but it prevents a further 6/7 lesser intensity shots in that rally, which is more energy efficient?
Another great video Sandy! A common problem I myself face in this lob chains is actually communicating with my partner. I give a quick glance at my opponents but it takes 1-2 seconds with my eyes on the ball and my back to them to let them reposition, without having any info from my partner. What type of communication would be beneficial to receive from the off-ball player?
My serve is pretty accurate, but fairly slow. In competition it's a comfortable game, but when i play my mates (who are used to my serves) me or my partner gets lobbed. I tend to move forward less quickly to have an easy smash-setup, untill they start returning differently and then i move faster to the net after the serve. I guess my partner can position himself a bit further away from the net on my serve, to anticipate him/her being lobbed on my serve.
Great video Sandy. Made me think that my problem is also my footwork and this is not helping me get back into position to deal with and attack the lob. A problem I do have is that one of the guys I play against lobs a lot and sometimes gets it to drop in the corner (dead weight) and the bounce of the back glass means it falls close to back wall which leaves a tight space and I can’t get any back swing and as such I struggle to return. Typically the ball bounces again and lose the point. Should I try to return before the first bounce, or use the back glass to return or is it just that it’s a good shot and very little I can do 😊 Frustrates the hell out of me - admittedly it’s worse in winter in uk as the ball doesn’t bounce as much but would be great to get some tips to help me return these lobs. Thanks again 👍
Normally players are only able to to this consistently if the ball is very easy for them (it is very difficult to do this on more difficult or faster balls). Those situations usually are quite rare the dead-weight lob, but you have to judge whether you can hit and bandeja comfortably or dig it out of the corner with a lob (sometimes a back boast)...
Nuno Alexandre Silva we are talking about receiving the lob...the chiquita would usually be played when the opponents are at net (in place of the lob).

Thanks and good point!!
Yeah I struggle against them but am working on it .. thanks for the video couch
No Sandy! Dont do this to me, I hope my opponent dont watch this hahah. Great video as always 👍👍
Hahaha...sorry! Don't tell them ;)

Thanks for the tips! The quality of your advices and videos is amazing, congrats!
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the support 🙏

Good suggestion, it is also more difficult off double glass if you have an angle :)
Love it as always Sandy! Great vid, thank you 🙌
I play usually some lobers. I have no problem in general. Except when I am serving

Dan Gen you basically want to know where your opponents are...this video might be able to help: ruclips.net/video/yrIlDgfHqb4/видео.html
Great video as always Sandy. Vamos
Thank you!

Yes, this sounds a sensible way to play it! Also sounds like there's an opportunity there to experiment with your serves against your mates too...
I find really easy to play against lobbers because I’m a great lobber as well.. 😜
Caio Celso Vidor the battle of the lobs! 💪
Thanks again Sandy... Funny I read te reactis from the lobbers. But your right... go for a hard return... de beuk er in 💪😂
I went back to the title to check haha had me worried!

Thank you!!
Hi Sandy.
Isn't the chiquita also a good technique for this scenario?
Thanks for all the good content. Keep it up!!!

Tnx for all the great content. Will you make a review of the 2021 adidas metalbone rackets?
Oscar WP I certainly will when I receive them 👍
Nice mate! ✔
w0lfcrY thanks 👍
Ofcourse I know him, he's me.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm a lobber!! :D
What I did.....I lost :(
Hahaha
I'm a lobber! :O haha
Haha busted!!
I am the lobber, haha
Basically just serve better and do better overheads ?Xd
Elliot ...and most importantly watch the action of your opponents so you can anticipate the lob.
There is no such things as a lobber . The pro's lob 60 percent on defense
Not saying it’s a bad thing to do. Infact if you lob well, that can often turn a match. Talking about how to deal with it.
Om a lobber, take this video down 🤚🏼
Hahaha busted!
so... just play better :D
please stop moving around when speaking, it's so annoying
Yeah, noticed that, I'm working to break the habit ha
