    Nice video man. I too have a setup that is intended for similar situations. As well as a identical setup for my GF although she has Level 3A plates and No comms setup. She thought it was dumb until I started showing her videos from the summer of love. Explained to here that should we even need any of this gear it will all ready be too late and impossible to get. She now understands that should the day ever come that we both have to put our rigs on for real that she will be happy she got it and learned to use it

    Your load out is great. Some things to think out. The first is DO buy more mags' for your pistol. The one reason why I say that, if there is ever a situation of SHTF you are going to find patrols as well as checkpoints. It's happen before in some areas that had hurricanes in the past, as well as gun confiscation. You'll want to be as low key as possible not with a full loadout. You NEED more pistol mags' to have on hand on as well as a decent concealed holster for your pistol. If the situation is THAT bad... SURE the further you go in that situation THEN it would be applicable to a full loadout and battle dress. Again, nothing against the gear you have.. Just plan low key... Plain clothes and a defense concealed pistol for the initial onset.

    • @shtfhoneybadger
      @shtfhoneybadger  2 года назад +2

      I agree with you a 100%. This is geared towards a worst case scenario loadout which is why it's light on the pistol magazines as it's a last resort. In general I feel you should always have a plethora of magazines on hand for all your handguns and rifles. A Grey man or EDC set up with a pistol primary that would be changed up for sure and your points are a 100% valid for that type of situation. We actually are planning on covering a video going over EDC/Grey man loadout and would love to hear your input when we release that as well.

      @@shtfhoneybadger You have great loadout, and after the fact down the timeline if that xyz situation occurred that would be 100% on point. But initially for the first few months, pistol is going to be the way to go. I myself, never use the Grey/Gray man term, as it was simply made up on social media. There is a lot of fake content out there. What I use, is the actual terms to the definition of situational awareness and tradecraft for any sort of blending in / incognito. Looking forward to you new videos.

    2:31 I used to run med kits on the back of all my belts and took every one of em off.
    In a seated position its very uncomfortable having shit in the middle of your lower back. Also hard to access unless it’s quick detach
    I resorted to putting chest seals and wound packing gauze in a slim dump pouch on my belt. Left side behind my rifle mag and we both have the same TQ position🤙🏻
    Also got the ferro concepts mini dangler on my Plate carrier for serious med gear. It’s small enough to be comfortable but big enough to hold a combat med load
    If you still want a dump pouch for empty mags add one to your plate carrier, I put mine left side cummerbund behind my extra rifle mag. Our setup is very similar I like your kit bro

    What are your realistic expectations on using the dump pouch? Seems to me a smaller and more compact one would be better unless you really expect to be loading it down. I would suggest taking a look at a Maxpedition roly-poly or similar. Folds down compact when not needed.
    For IFAK, I've been looking at the S.O.B. which seems to be popular among your commentors.

    • @shtfhoneybadger
      @shtfhoneybadger  2 года назад

      I consider the primary use as a way to discard used magazines to prevent loosing them and secondary purpose of temporarily storing items in a pinch. I've considered the roly-polys for the exact reason you mentioned. This one folds up some but no where near as compact, My main reason I've stuck with this is I like the design style on the mouth of the pouch. I wish there was a roly-poly style pouch with this style of mouth on it. If I needed to put much more on the belt I probably would switch over to a roly-poly style because it would take up less width. And yep that seems to be a popular one and has made my short list off of this video.

    Just going out on a limb here ~ is this an ideal setup for city dwellers? I may have missed that bit throughout the video. Anyone living in Chicago ought to check this and other videos out regarding self protection. Come 2023, it'll be... interesting to live there.
    What does the radio pick up exactly? I had an idea to hook my electronic ear pro to a smartphone with EMT app open. It's just something a relative did years ago and when 2020 hit I gave it a try. Wow, it's mind boggling how much of a circus the area can turn into, especially on weekends at night. Half of the calls to dispatch are about health problems, but out of nowhere it'll be a distress call about a naked man running through streets armed with a knife trying to bust open peoples' homes up and down a block. >.>

    • @shtfhoneybadger
      @shtfhoneybadger  2 года назад +1

      I didn't really dig into it to much but I would say this would be more geared towards urban environments, vehicle based use, or used in a defensive capacity but it would work in any situation you need it to for shorter duration situations or situations where resupply should be common.
      As for the radio the one I run picks up GMRS frequencies and is meant to communicate within the group I'd be running with as we coordinated out radio coms. If operating in a environment where cellphones are still serviceable then listen to a scanner app is awesome to help you be aware of what is going on to help be better prepared when SHTF and know if it's heading your way.

      There are plenty of options in the 100-150 dollar range that would serve you much better than that carrier. Not to mention the secondhand market is huge. You can get a really nice carrier for a fraction of the price. Do yourself the favor save an extra 100 bucks and upgrade.
