Great kit! I keep an IFAK stylr kit all the time, an EMS/EMT basic bag/ and being a military guy I put a CLS bag in my hunting/hiking gear. For those of you that have little or no training go get at least CPR/AED First aid certified. There are many free ways to get one. For all you Army guys out there that have not taken CLS, talk to your front line leader. Its a 40hr. course and worth some serious promotion points. Not to mention the combat skills you gain-Survivability.
Nice first aid kit. As a retired firefighter/paramedic and former military medic, I have always carried a decent first aid kit. I've found it's best to have several. I have one that I leave in the vehicle that has most items except for those subject to freeze-thaw or extreme heat. I have a separate carry bag that I put in for the liquid items as well as a more comprehensive load. Lastly, I have kits for pocket, daypack, and backpacking. I've found it best to leave each one in every pack that I choose (yeah, I know I can stop any time) so I don't forget them. Something as simple as a gallon-size ziplock bag with a few select items can provide a level of preparedness that far exceeds a handful of nothing when needed.
I made a kit for my car, my wife's, and for my sister-in-law in the Philippines, on a super low budget. I started at the dollar store with one of everything from the medical isle. That cost me about $20 - $25 per kit. I ordered a surgical staplers off of amazon. Those cost me about $12 each and come pre-loaded with about 20 staples and a staple remover. In all each kit cost about $40. Packed each in a shoe box. Already used the kits several times in emergencies. Totally worth it!
great video cody it,s our wood cutting time here and we double checked our first aid kit to refill this week . thanks hope all is well with the family.
The majority of a decade spent on an ambulance, Bandaids and blankets are my go to. Air in and out Blood round and round If it's squirting put a finger on it Thanks for the videos man
Two more suggestions. I have a couple of splints in my roll. I have found them to be really useful particularly when backpacking. Also I recommend a head lamp so you have both hands free when doing first aid at night.
USNERDOC and AMP-3 Kits are great. Last month, I used an IFAK and Blood Stopper Kit at a batchlor party motorcycle/camp trip. The Groom took a spill in some 1"minus gravel road in a T-Shirt. Only managed to puncture his elbow an inch or so, but it was wide open. We where in the Tillamook Forrest and about a hour from anything. Patched him up and we went home the next day. Only one other guy had some medical stuff out of seven of us.
I was in the process in getting another first aid kit for my shop, so thanks for this. Also, I took possession of my first pair of Whites boots today based on your recommendation. I am blown away by the quality.
I never go anywere abroad without my 1st aid kit.. basic one.. But my last trip to Africa we realy needed it. Our jeep flipped over. Well long story short, We are all here today and even if God couldnt protect us from the crash the angels saved our lifes... and the med kit :)
I recommend anyone finding a local first aid class. Many places offer a basic class like the American Red Cross. You never know when you might need it. It's good to be the guy that can step from the crowd in a time of need.
Remover when Cody' other Chanel he post a vid about prepping or something along of those lines and he had about for of these kits and some level 3 kits from Nutnfancy's . It's nice to rediscover some of the older vids. Thanks Cody for the upload!
Seizure sticks or bite sticks are a thing of the past. I currently work in EMS don't ever put something like a bite stick in an air way. Your asking for it to slip out and down his throat. Then you need a pair of Magill forceps to retrieve the stick and regain a airway.
What should we use on someone during a seizure??? To keep them from swallowing or biting off their tongue. I can’t remember what they used on me during my seizures. It’s all extremely fuzzy.
Fantastic, EXTRA IDEA: Add a small laminated " road map" of the bag, listing whats in the pouches for those other than yourself accessing bag. Great as always Cody, you and USNERDOC are an inspiration for us medics.
Dave and Beth are the best and they have put together a great FAK. I've not yet purchased any of there kits but Christmas is coming soon and I'm leaving lots of hints for my wife!
for all those interested, super glue is wonderful for cuts on the fingers and knuckles, all the way down to about a milimeter. a family member still to this day uses it for bad excema on the hands, it fills the cuts and lets them heal, by the time the cut's healed the super glue is gone.
Great video as always Cody! Looking forward to the rest of the kit as I've already gotten some ideas from this first segment. Keep up the good work as there are people that greatly appreciate your ministry and the time and effort you and your family put into it. May God bless and keep you and your family!
thank you SO much for the follow up video on the first aid kit. I watched your axe injury video and noticed the first aid kit at that time. Ive been putting together a few different first aid kits, and will be adding your recommendation (using the Blackhawk bag) as our primary kit. Being able to view the contents at a glance is BIG! very nice set up.
RUclipsr USNERDOC has a FAK business (AMP-3) & is selling a filled kit like the one shown here. It's called the outfitter. He's an ER doc & his attention to details & preps is top notch. I know you know him Cody, just spreading the word for the folks that want to order one today. Thanks Cody
Funny to comment on a 6 year old video but here I go. I strongly suggest that you put Velcro labels on the pockets identifying the categories of items. Not only will it help you to find things quickly, but I’m always thinking that in a major accident scene that I’d toss my roll to a doctor and I’d want him to find what he needs instantly. That jumped out at me the whole time I watched your video. You really want to be able to look at the open roll and know what pocket holds what type of materials. I also recommend that everyone take an advanced, all day first aid class. It’s one thing to have the kit, but you want to be able to use it. My two cents. Love your vids btw. You’ve got a ton of excellent content.
thank you, that's perfect. I'd rather build it myself to suit my needs. Thank you again for taking the time to post the videos, I really look forward to when you post new ones.
Speaking of contacts(I may have asked before) what brand do you guys recommend? I have so many issues(irritation, dryness) with the ones I have. Maybe I just need a better eye doctor? Great video.
my local walmart/petco has a pet tag maker that you can customize your own pet tags but I think i've seen normal circular tags on there, a bit more spendy but still a good option
REI, get the sliver removers folks Uncle Bills. Worked in wood shops and camped a lot. Get the sliver remover. They rock. USNERDOC needs to have them in his kits.
I don't think that many people will be doing tracheostomies or chest decompressions if they're qualified then they'll probably already know that they need it. Great video though I might need to borrow some of these ideas thanks
wranglerbarn was his old channel I don't know if its still up he did have a blogspot account and that might be the way to watch some of his old vids. hope this helps
Hey Cody, love your videos... Just a thought but u should mention to your wife that maybe she should make a RUclips channel on homesteading from a women's prospective... Just a thought!
Hey is it possible for you to upload in 1080p for the future ones... It would be great for the rest of the vids. feel like i can't get up close...great vid!
your fans ask for a first aid kit vid, and you delivery incredibly fast! do you fish? would love to see a fishing vid from you, im sure your take on fishing would be great to watch
I am trying to organize a home first aid kit right now. I thought a soft sided fishing tackle case might work well. My question is; Where is the best place to get the supplies other then the big box stores? Do you have one favorite place to buy from?
Thanks for the video. I also watched Nutnfancy's take on this. Lots of good info in both, but I have a comment and a question on the Blackhawk bag. I really like the fact that the thing rolls out so that everything is in plain sight and organized, but those pockets seem to be a bit small and hard to get into. Any alternatives you folks might suggest?
I've been looking for the right kit to use for my first aid supplies, this looks perfect. Some great ideas for what to add to my kit as well. Is this kit bought as an empty pack, or is it a complete set?
Before I went to college I was a nanny for a young family and I bought a first aid kit and never got to use it till a day when my kid fell of the the top of a slide and got cut all over his body and when I got to him I dumbingly cheered because I could finnaly use it.
Nice kit, maybe to make it easier for someone using your kit would be having small printed labels on each section aswell. The less your brain has to think about where to find something the faster the solution is achieved
+wranglerstar Cody, are you a Paramedic or an A(EMT). Just tested for my basic and passed the cognitive exam, and I am on to the physcomotor(practical skills exam). Thank you for all the wonderful videos. I am active in agriculture and forestry, as well as being a volunteer firefighter for the Hinsdale, NH Fire Department. I hope to send you some pictures of our apparatus, and if your lucky some Vermont Maple Syrup from our family's sugar house! Hope all is well with you and your family. -Alec R. Fleming
My only comment is you might want to trade your super glue for dermabond. Dermabond is chemically very similar to super glue, but it wont irritate skin the way super glue can in some individuals, and it closes skin slightly better in wet or bloody conditions. Dermabond can be expensive, but you can save money by getting 3M vetbond, which is identical, just made for vets instead of hospitals. Don't get me wrong, super can work in a pinch, even I have used it.
This video, and part two, are some of the least watched videos on this channel. The crazy thing is that it's the small things that kill you and it's the small things that save you. So many preppers, survivalists, off-gridders and such concentrate on all the big tough things like guns, knives, tonnes of food and a million litres of water and an underground shelter for nuclear fall-out when it's a 1cm scratch on your leg that gets infected that'll kill you. This should be the most watched video.
I would almost bet money that it was the amp 3 medic roll. You can look up usnerdoc on RUclips or go to the amp3 website....that kit is awesome and usnerdoc is the man. I believe there's even a link in this video's description.
Not to be a nag, but if it was me (I love e'm) I'd get a clear label maker and put on each pouch in case I'm out not able to direct where to go... a thought !...efficiency
Why nothing to prepare for extracting snake venom? How would you handle it if you needed to treat poison? Why all is it that ipecac syrup is no longer used?
Don't ever ever ever decompress with a needle, especially one like you showed with the syringe. All chest decompressions should be done with a 14gauge angiocath, that way when the lung inflates it will not be punctured by the needle. Along the same lines I would get a good dedicated tourniquet, something like a sof t or cat, and if your on a budget the swat t works as well, besides that great kit for minor first aid!
Im surprised that you are advocating, in a way, the use of a foreign product. Blackhawk is made overseas. Not trolling. Just wondering if yours is different or if you are willing to make concessions with specific items.
Great kit! I keep an IFAK stylr kit all the time, an EMS/EMT basic bag/ and being a military guy I put a CLS bag in my hunting/hiking gear. It's empty. USNERDOC I believe sells a compete kit.
His kits are top shelf. Thanks for the reminder.
search the web for plastic badge or tag. You can order them for cheap and create any name/color you want.

@@MountainGirl420 in most cases you just turn them on their side and move all dangerous objects near the patient.
They no longer recommend putting anything into a patients mouth that is seizing.

Why do I put myself through watching an hour series on a medical kit!? Heck, says a lot about your video making Cody!! Awesome videos, keep it up :)
Dave and Beth are the best and they have put together a great FAK. I've not yet purchased any of there kits but Christmas is coming soon and I'm leaving lots of hints for my wife!

This is way more than what most people are certified for. Unless your trained and certified, I would not cut anyone open. That is a lawsuit.
400 videos. ive watched about half. I love your videos. very good advice.
Maybe the lighter is in the kit for (emergency only) sterilization of tools. Excited for part II. Thanks again for your time am effort
That is a very nice kit you put together. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the next videos in this series.
Thanks for the kind words buddy . . . much appreciated!
Be safe my friend.
thank you, that's perfect. I'd rather build it myself to suit my needs. Thank you again for taking the time to post the videos, I really look forward to when you post new ones.
Love your kit! Lighters can be used for small sterilization! Nice video!
No ems shears?

I am trying to organize a home first aid kit right now. I thought a soft sided fishing tackle case might work well. My question is; Where is the best place to get the supplies other then the big box stores? Do you have one favorite place to buy from?
Theemsstore is a grate place as is amazon
Whsfirstaidkits - Check out whsfirstaidkits.com.au/
Try your local pharmacy. If they don't have it in stock they can order it for you
Could the lighter be used to disinfect metal tools?
do you have a printable inventory for the FA kit?
Thanks for the video. I also watched Nutnfancy's take on this. Lots of good info in both, but I have a comment and a question on the Blackhawk bag. Tillamook Forrest . . . in my backyard . . . hope all is well with the groom!
Thank you for the kind comments!
Be safe . . .
Thats a very well thought out and set up kit..looking forward to the next part / s
I really need to do some volunteer work with an EMT to learn some new emergency care skills.
Thank you thank you thank you for all your hard work, and willingness to share
About how much does it take to put one of these together?
you wear contacts, any opinions on lasik?
on amazon you can get iron on patches that say first aid. That way its easier to identify thats its a first aid kit.
Go to RUclipsr USNERDOC. I"ll put a link in the subject heading.
Before I went to college I was a nanny for a young family and I bought a first aid kit and never got to use it till a day when my kid fell of the the top of a slide and got cut all over his body and when I got to him I dumbingly cheered because I could finnaly use it.
Lol hahaha. I know how that feeling. Ahahahaha
Do you keep quick clot in your kit? Or is that for the sequel?
can u please add the link to where i can buy this complete kit...thank you
Nice kit, maybe to make it easier for someone using your kit would be having small printed labels on each section aswell. The less your brain has to think about where to find something the faster the solution is achieved
Nutnfancy
The lighter could be used for sterilizing the tweezers or the needle.
Cody,
Did you turn down the tailcap end of your Lumamax on a lathe? Looks interesting.
Interesting to think that both that kit and this one have origins in Nutn's early kits...
More please, and finish it w/ an oversight. Thanks, "See you in the next video" How did your RUclips work party stand?
Is the "blackhawk" roll made in the USA? I went to their website, but could not verify.
"someone who's not breathing and their heart has stopped, essentially someone who's not doing well" yeah you could say that.
I would like to buy a ready-made kit but your link didn't work help please. thanks
Great pack my friend! Thanks 4 the share!
I once head of a guy using a sock as a "face shield"... I think he got awarded or something for his ingenuity.
congrats on 400 videos
Why the fiskars scissors and not a good pair of trauma shears?
the gloves are also good for situations were your hands are dirty and you don't have time to disinfect and properly clean them
Looking for airway tube for the tracheotomy scalpel discussion.
Looking back at this in the covid area and this damm you just coughed on your medical equipment lool

Richard, what is his other channel called?
Thanks!
How wish i can have like this first aid kit 'cause it so useful in case of emergency
Do you need to know a lot about medicine to make a first aid kit like this?
I am not seeing it...did you make a product list?
Great kit but I never liked that bag. It open on both end and pretty expensive.

That kinda looks like nutnfancy's level two kit
Great video!
Thank you!
Where did u get those tags?
Why nothing to prepare for extracting snake venom?
How would you handle it if you needed to treat poison?
Why all is it that ipecac syrup is no longer used?
William Lohr Interesting, thanks for the update I had an old first aid kit long ago that had both these in them XD
That is a good bag to have

Did not know your background when I sent you that note on quikclot. Sorry 'bout that.
He does have them in his kits ;-)
A good video. Thanks for sharing
good stuff
When's the next one
