    To address frequently asked questions:
1.) For any questions regarding medical training, see my video entitled 'Putting It All Together.'
    • Putting It All Together
2.) The clear zippered bags are simply 'cosmetics' bags that can be either found online or elsewhere. I purchased mine at Walmart. However, be aware that at Walmart the design and availability of these cosmetic bags changes constantly over time.
3.) The medication video has been postponed for now. I'm just too busy homeschooling my 4-year old, folks, and I have thus been forced to prioritize my time accordingly.
4.) No, this featured STOMP bag was not purchased pre-assembled. Rather, I myself researched and purchased each and every item individually.
5.) I am truly humbled at the overwhelmingly positive response that this video has generated across the internet and in so many different countries!!! THANK YOU for your vote of confidence! It is a pleasure to be service. Many blessings, my brothers and sisters --GM

AnalyticalSurvival hey I want to be a medical sergeant my plan is to join the Army under option 40 as a 68w then volunteer for sfas. I just want to know if it is a good plan or not ,and also if it isn't what is a good plan.

    • @timd5130
      @timd5130 7 лет назад +4

Vgjh Hhhb hello, 68W is one way to go if you don't think you can pass the SF Selection and need time to get fit. The best option is to have it in your contract as an 18X. The 18X enlistment option guarantees you a shot at trying to pass the Q course. If you enlist as a 68W ( medic ) you can not try out so to speak until you are an E4 and then only if "allowed" .... go option 18X with back up 68W In your enlistment paperwork is what I would advise. ( disclaimer I am not a have never been a recruiter, I'm a SGM (E9) that has an 18D MOS and I'm currently serving my 32nd year in the Army just waiting to retire ). Good luck!

Great video, very well presented and clearly demonstrated in a manner I could easily follow. I look forward to your Medications follow up video (Hint, Hint)
A few Items that if added would really enhance the scope of use for this kit without adding noticeable amounts of weight, bulk and cost would be....
    1) Blood Glucose Meter (Kit with Lancets)
    2) Spare set of Lithium ion batteries for above
    3) Pulse Oximeter (if possible try and get one that takes the same size batteries as your Blood Glucose Meter / Torch)
    4) Epi-Pen or equivalent
    5) Tongue depressors - (also 8 of these taped together make an improvise tourniquet bar)
    6) Magnifying glass
    7) IV catheters of a smaller size (20 Gauge - 24 Gauge) Think IV access on people of a smaller stature or children
For those of you like me that wondered on the size of the clear pouches, try 8" x 5" (20.5cms x 12.5xms). I based my kit on this set up but tailored it to my group needs and my knowledge / training / competency and physical ability.
Advanced Kit you may want to consider if your
    knowledge/training/competency and budget allows....
    1) Laryngoscope set both with Mac and Miller Blades
    2) An AED (However, these are expensive, some may consider too bulky, and/or unlikely to be used, although they definitely fall within your scope of use for this set up.)
    3) Cuffed ET tubes, or iGel's (iGel's are easier to use, more durable, however they are bulkier)
    4) Goal Zero Guide 10 Plus
    5) Goal Zero Nomad 13 (Solar Battery Charger, Strapped to the outside of your bag It gives you the ability to passively charge batteries for extended use of electronic devices including mobile phones / GPS devices etc.)

Hey Pete - thanks so much for your words of encouragement! All meds to be covered later. Please note that I took these photos back in June 2011, when I completed the bag, which was also before my son's birth. Unfortunately, my son was born with several serious allergies. And so, yes, the pen is in there now - as of early 2012 (both the Epi-pen Jr. and Regular - Kaiser is very good at replacing them ASAP). Many blessings, and thanks again for you vote of confidence! --GM

It´s been a year since I first watched this video, and my friend yours is the best Medic Kit in the whole youtube catalog, well organized and complete in almost everyway to ensure the best treatment for anyone needing it. I´ve seen a lot of other vids where people show their medkits and all of them including yours lack something small and very important an oximeter, maybe you have your reasons not to have one or is something you overlooked, but I strongly recomend you to have one. Best wishes and God Bless.

One of the best starter medical bags on the market for the money. Anybody investing in this will surley take an interest in learning advanced medical treatment and one valuable member to have around. You can use one use electrical meter tags in the zipper handles and use permanent marker to mark symbols on each one T = trauma R = respertory B = bleeding. The tags will stay put forever and can be used as larger grab handles if you have gloves on.
I owe my life to the Navy corpsman and surgeon.

This was seriously the best presented and most thorough prep bag video I've ever seen. ON ANY TYPE OF BAG. I found I never skipped ahead and took lots of notes. Well done! I think like you...I actually built my medic kit first (now I have to go tear it all apart, thanks for some new ideas) before my 3-dayer. I also have a small medical grab bag that I built using a bait and worm fishing bag from Bass Pro shop that has two zipped sides and included clear bags, locked into place and keeps all meds, bandages and tapes separate & organized. (seriously folks, you can build a kit out anything handy that works for you. You don't have to go buy a $500 Blackhawk bag) My wife rolled eyes at it and my other bags until her father passed out on the driveway and I had her run and "get the two - red - medical bags under the sink!". What I had totally took care of him, his broken elbow and numerous cuts and bruises before we took him to ER. They told her that they'd never had a patient come in so well cared for and prepped. (clipped notes as to what happened and what was applied to him on his shirt too.) She doesn't roll her eyes any more on being prepared. Folks...watch this video twice and then start your bag(s)...while reading up on basic medical training. Family & friends will be impressed when you help out and maaaaybe they'll understand what it actually means to be "prepared". and Airborne, GM! ...old 20th SFG SGT here.

You have just blown away every kit I have made or ever seen in my entire life on RUclips. So well thought out, comprehensive, and a kit with a ridiculous amount of practical items. You have earned my respect and you have also earned a subscriber! Being an EMT in training, and being a medical dork most of my life, I have always enjoyed building extensive SHTF medical kits, and I will follow your lead with adding some of the newer contents that I haven't seen before.
However, word of caution. In my opinion, the only questionable product included in this amazing bag, that I would like to warn you about would be the Oral IV's. From what I have read, they are relatively useless for rapid rehydration, as the little vials contain not much more than tap water with a very modest amount of salt. Oral Rehydration Salts I have used in my kits for years, and although they do require a liter water to use, are going to be much more effective for patients with moderate to severe dehydration, considering they contain a comprehensive rehydration mixture of Sodium and Potassium Chloride, as well as Trisodium and Glucose.
Other than that, very well done.

Heartily seconded - Great vid, and great kit.. One additional item I'd suggest (since, Unless you're bringing this into combat With you (where you'll likely already-have..) most people don't go running around with these: velcro-strapped Knee pads, since you'll most likely be 'on bended knee', during care, and even pantlegged-knees can get quite abrazed on asphalt / rocky (or shrapnel..) littered grounds. I've Thanked myself more than once for tucking those in / velcro'ing on to a molle-strap, sidecar, etc.. Well worth the 'extra baggage', imho..

As a 12-year Paramedic, this is an outstanding kit, and its obvious that it has been put together with a tremendous amount of forethought and hard-won experience. A couple of comments though - some smaller-gauge IV catheters (20,22 and 24) might be helpful for use on pediatric patients or those with poor vasculature for whom cannulation is a challenge. You can bolus just fine through a 22 or even a 24 if you have to, but an 18 into a squirming toddler who is severely dehydrated is no easy task.

Got a good list of medical items. I rather use the M-17 type bags that were used by the US Army medics back in the day. STOMP bags are great but bulky. The M-17 bags can be distributed to members of the group to carry. M-17 bags have six inner compartments for storage. Each compartment can be set up for specific med needs. A burn compartment, assessment compartment, bleeding compartment, wound care compartment, chronic care item compartment, dressing & bandage compartment. Unhook the four fastening hooks a roll the bag out flat to display items.
I like how you have regular sized item's instead of a bunch of those single use tabs of ointments and such. This is not a simple boo boo kit. Going to fill out another m-17 med bag. Just cannot get injectable items. No D5W, saline, albumin, or any DEA scheduled pain meds, morphine or the like. No chest pneumothorax needles either. I'm not at that skill level anyway.
Definitely getting a Littmann stethoscope this time. Too many medical professionals recommend these stethoscopes. Blood pressure cuffs for infant, child, small adult and big arm adults. Just have regular sized cuffs now.

In an shtf emergency, there will be skilled medical people who don’t have supplies. Just having a kit like this allows them to jump in and use their skills.
The down side of this kit is that many of these items have an expiration date. After that date they will still work, but may no longer be sterile or as effective. Replacing all this every year or 2 would be very expensive

I'm sure you have already endured and will continue to listen to critiques and "better" solutions and other opinions, but do not let that take away from the amazing detail and well thought out guide to your medical bag and this video. The wide range of care that is housed within is impressive. In your suturing kit, I can't remember or not, but perhaps adding some derma bond to avoid some stitches would be nice. I was looking for a comprehensive list for my new med bag and I had my apprehensions cause this video was 6 years old but this list was phenomenal! It really gave me a good basis for what I need to start thinking about for my medbag. Thanks for taking the time to really break it down.

I do not have a medical background and have spent the last two months reading & researching what it would take to create a "good" medical kit. I sure do wish I had found your video right off the bat because it would have saved me a lot of time. For those starting out this process, I would recommend making a list of AnalyticalSurvival's components and research how and why to use them. If you do that, I believe you too will appreciate how thorough and complete this "kit" is. Yes it will be costly and require many hours learning how to use it but if you, your family or friends every really need such a kit you will probably save their life. What is that worth?
Great job on both the "kit" and the video.

I haven't had the best of luck with those trauma shears. Leatherman came out with some that I have been looking at. Also check out "Big Shears". They are german made. I saw a bad car accident today and luckily everybody was ok. If somebody was royally screwed up then I really couldn't do much (call 911, protect c-spine, hold pressure, ventilate, and wait for 911), even though I am trained to do a whole bunch of stuff (even to use a cricothyrotomy kit), because I don't have an ALS bag in my car. So now I am looking into it. I would also add an intubation kit, including LMAs and other airway devices, a pulse ox, a bag mask device, and maybe some other stuff. Also, I've never used that cricothyrotomy kit. I've only used the one by cook medical. It's called the "Melker Universal Emergency Cricothyrotomy Catheter Set". If you are trained to do these I would check it out. It's very user friendly. I would probably organize the differently to my own specifications but overall a great video! I am looking into this Blackhawk bag specifically. Thanks.

If you had a spreadsheet of all items it would make inventory of peoples existing items and identifying deficiencies a little easier. This would be a great download from AnalyticalSurvivalDotCom if you already had the information in that form. Thank you for all the information! Best of luck and congratulations on the new chapters in your life.

Is there an itemized list available. This bag is very impressive. I'm not we are allowed to have injectables in Australia unless your fully qualified nurse or doctor.
Would be very impressive if this was available as a kit. So organised and well thought out on where everything is.

excellent set up, great work; maybe add clove oil, ammonium inhalers... I like the way you divided stuff and put it in practical bags. Excellent suggestions to add rasor in the suturekit, and the needlecontainer for used needles! Didn't think of those yet!! Thanks!

Absolutely outstanding video that stresses the need for comprehensive care when there is no other emergency care available. Excellent point too on firearm possession. If you plan for a crisis situation where you prepare for the possibility of shooting someone; then you MUST plan for the eventuality of you or your family being shot.
It's not a lot of money if it's capable of saving the life of a loved one; or any other human being. Keep something like this in easy reach; train to use it properly and pray you never will.
Best video of it's type I've seen to date. Sorry it took me three years to come across it.
    Thank you, sir.

Thanks for your kind words, my friend. A couple of things: I would remove a few items (which ones is up to debate) and include an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). It's what I would eventually like to do myself - however, an AED device is quite costly. If you have the additional training to justify this purchase, I would also include a Tactical Laryngoscope w/blades & ET tubes for field intubation. Many blessings --GM

I´ve been watching IFAK, emergency kits, trauma kits vids for a long time, here in youtube, but you are the first one that includes personal protection against body fluids (congrats for that). Also it would be usefull to add Hextend IV Fluid for blood lose.

Fairly good and basic bag. this is the bag you grab if you have to Alamo up somewhere or a training site. It is pretty close to what I carry. Just some suggestions - you need a cobalt blue cap that goes over the penlight for the eye exam with the Fluorescein strips. Chinook has a small EENT kit that comes in handy. I'm glad to see cloth tape or athletic tape, it works much better than Durapore or any of that nylon crap. Tongue depressors. A half of roll of saran wrap to hold the burn gel pads in place. More IV fluid and some 100cc bags for med piggybacks. Half a roll of 100 mph tape. Buddy tap all the tape and Coflex tape, you don't want to be looking for the tail in the dark. More Kerlex and a few more 6" Ace wraps for compression. An ET tube. Dual-armed cadaver ligature. Some glucose gel. More TQs. I know the meds would be covered maybe later, epi pen? just some little things that might come in handy in a pinch. Great video.

I am a huge believer in silver infused gauze, I have used them to treat staph and they do an amazing job of killing bacteria at the source, can be left in the wound all day if regular changes aren't an option. So if you are looking at full treatment of the wound I highly recommend them. Not cheap but very effective.
