Hey Tim! $339 plus tax so a bit of rounding to get to $400 hehe. Anywho, people love their bates reels which are, if my guessing is right, made by the same people who make the loongze reels. Hey earl! Totally a fair approach after all these reels are so “new”. That being said, loongze’s parent company has been around for a decent amount of time and they have good experience making CNC framed reels for another brand so I wouldn’t doubt the quality too much. So far, from my limited use of the DC system it works fairly well and I’m excited to really put it to good use. I was able to get it to cast down to 0.5g, which it’s not rated to do, using some work arounds in the app. Pretty awesome but gotta see how it works out on the water and not in the backyard. @@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL looking forward to it. Don't rush on my account :). Curious to see how all these newer BFS reels, specifically round reels compare.
Hey Illini! Much appreciated and I totally hear ya! Yea… there have been so many new reels launched after thanksgiving which has been kind of bonkers… Anywho, I’d say that casting performance wise we’re at a point where it’s hard to find a reel that doesn’t perform well and it’s more about what lure weights you want to cast and whether you’re trying for range or accuracy etc. Just to give you a bit of a summary on the non dc Airlite, the adjustable dynamic rotor system does definitely work and full travel will help beginners and also help in windy situations whereas the fully arrested rotor setting will be for the more advanced casters and for distance. The reel is very consistent in its casting and my feeling is that the sweet spot is around the 5g lure mark. It does cast down to 0.5g but it’s not the best at it due to the large 34mm spool. 1g works well but again probably not getting the best distances from that larger spool size. I also, at some point in the future, want to see if the reel will cast above 10g. I know that loongze rates the reel for up to 10g but I saw dankung oddly stating that it would go up to 18g. I do feel like the reel has the potential to go higher than 10g but won’t know until I get a chance to test that. Anywho, hope that helps a bit and thanks for letting me know what you want to see on the channel! Cheers my friend!

@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL Thank you! Very impressive that reel casting 1g and less! I think,it's should be some answer from Shimano,I've missed new Cardiff DC🥲
@@vandn100 hey vand! I hear you and I hope Shimano hears all of this commotion haha. I, for one, am all for seeing innovation in the bfs space as it will help drive the entire niche forwards. I am excited to see what the Japanese brands will answer with! Cheers my friend!
Hey terrible! The sideplate is reported to be IP68 rated and so should be able to spend some time submerged in water. The system does use a battery but it is not charged through a cable like the daiwa and kastking “DC” reels. This uses the rotation of the spool, during casting and retrieving, to charge the battery. As far as replacement, as far as I understand, you will be able to purchase replacement parts and so I would think that new dc modules would be purchasable if needed. I am unsure what the lifespan of the battery is but I am sure we can have a decent guesstimation as there is a lot of information on Li-Ion batteries on the web. Hope that helps and cheers my friend!
Tempting to try one, but I was thinking about the JDM Shimano Calcutta Conquest BFS. I may wait to see if Shimano comes out with a Calcutta Conquest BFS DC. This Loongze isn't much less money then the current Shimano Calcutta BFS but the Shimano is not DC. I guess I waited this long to get one so whats a few more months till after iCast.....FishOn....Jim
Hey jim! Yea thats a fairly good assessment of where things stand price wise… either way it’s good to see innovation and the further development of tech as it benefits us, the consumer. That being said… I’m not sure if Shimano actually has plans to do a bfs dc reel as there isn’t any news on the release of any new dc reels afaik. So… it might be a year or two or three… for Shimano to make the next move… anywho, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and insights and cheers my friend!
To be honest Shimano can make one, but they're lazy and the only made what's only sells now days. Shimano did make a round reel dc BFS reel in the past which called the "Cardiff 50 DC", but it's wasn't to popular among customer and the public so that's why they stop. I'm sure due to popularity to BFS fishing, i'm pretty sure they don't mind give a try again. Because Shimano is a big company if they do it; they can do better, but again right now; what's it will sells they'll stick to for now from the looks of it. I feel like the time where Shimano get their hands dirty on errors and trying; looks like is in the past.
@@leepao6302 hey Lee! I really hope they resurrect the Cardiff 50 dc. That would be amazing! I also hope they work on making their current system a bit more tunable but also keep the current level of user friendliness. What’s the point of powerful functions if no one can use them after all. I am looking forward to and hoping that Shimano will answer the loongze reels with a strong response! Cheers my friend!
Hey deebz! I definitely spent the channel’s money on this reel. I was able to receive a discount though as I am providing as “unbiased” a review as possible. I will and always strive to point out not only the pros but also any cons to the products I review. If you are looking for a reviewer who is purchasing these products at full retail then you may have to wait a bit as the adoption will be slower due to the higher asking price of $339 USD. As a small channel, I do my best to utilize the channel’s funds to purchase items for review but as the channel’s current income isn’t very high that isn’t always possible. Over time, as the channel becomes more established my goal is to move away from discounts and “free for review” items and move to a full independently purchased product but it also does, believe it not, help to have good connections to the companies that bring us these products. I may consider making a video talking about the mission statement and goals of the channel in the near future just to help folks get a better understanding of the channel and to be completely transparent with everyone watching. If you’re looking for more user experiences then consider coming and joining the fb group, BFS BUDGET FINESSE FISHING. If a member purchases one of these reels the chances are good that they will also leave some sort of review there. It’s a great resource besides that and a great place to hang out as well. Thanks so much for sharing your insights and thoughts and for your comments! Cheers my friend!
Hey kruiser! I believe loongze does have a US website but they are currently “out of stock”. The only way that I currently know of to get one of these is directly through one of the loongze sales reps. I have their information listed in the video description. You can reach them by Facebook messenger or Instagram direct messages. As far as comparing this reel to the cq bfs I would say they are drastically different reels. I also don’t have a cq bfs to directly compare to but based off of what others have said the cq bfs is a great reel no doubt. This reel will likely be a love it or hate it type deal as there is a learning curve to using the DC system and becoming familiar with it. I should have a video showing my first outing with the reel and what I went through. That being said, I was using the Chinese language version of the DC app and so I was struggling a bit haha. They’ll have an English version shortly though. So I guess the question is really are you ok with using an app or side plate controls and going through a bit of a learning curve? If so, then this might be a good fit. If not then the cq bfs is a great reel no doubt. Hope that helps and cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL thanks for the info! I love Shimano’s DC implementation, so hoping this one’s just as good or even better. I actually don’t use my CC BFS for true BFS, but it’s on a Oneten Stick. I throw topwaters and jerks on it is one of my favorite setups. 5lbs braid and it can launch a jerk bait 40+ yards with virtually no effort.
@KruiserIV hey kruiser! Being as transparent as possible but I’ve actually never used a Shimano DC reel before as they haven’t really had a “bfs” DC reel. I also didn’t quite like that there weren’t many adjustable settings other than the different “modes”. Having lots of settings with this reel is almost like a double edged sword though. You get a lot of powerful tools but you need to take the time to learn what they do and how they behave. There’s also a bit of a learning curve to the operation of the reel itself. It does not like hard casts and excels with smooth gentle casts. It’s odd to me since I’ve been moving to harder casts as I become more proficient at casting with bfs setups. So there’s definitely some adjusting that needs to be done for this reel. That aside I really do enjoy using the reel but I hope loongze improves their app a bit and I hope they do it sooner rather than later haha. Thanks for the questions and comments my friend and cheers!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL I agree with you about the number of settings. I own Daiwa’s IMZ Limit Breaker and I’ve translated the manual to English using my iPhone photos app, but that thing has too many settings. I like that Shimano’s implementation is so well executed and yet so simple. I hope they introduce a BFS DC at some point, but time will tell. I’m excited to try these two Looznge reels, I’ll say that!
@@KruiserIV hey kruiser! Yea double edged sword for sure but I def lie in the camp that loves having so many features haha. I find it to be like a mini game while I’m out fishing 😅. Look forward to hearing what you think of the LZ reels! I’ve enjoyed using them, except in the cold 😆. Cheers my friend!
Hey Eddie! Yep you do have the ability to do so on this reel using the side button. The directions are a bit… confusing though… and so I haven’t quite figured them out. I have a bit more studying to do before I can make a video showing how to actually use the side control haha. Been a bit busy with other family responsibilities, amongst other things. I can say that the reel casts 1g extremely well and I have actually found a way to get it to cast 0.5g as well. I’m still in the learning process of how to use all of the features the reel has but I will do my best to simplify and explain them in a future video, and the side controls once I decipher those lol. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and insights and cheers my friend!
Sounds a lot like the BFS version of the Daiwa IM Z Limit Breaker my friend bought and returned after the app was completely non english and he couldn't use all the features it had.
Hey fishinmortician! Yea that’s exactly what I was thinking when I first heard that it has an app that goes along with it and to some degree you are correct. The app is currently only in Chinese, however I’ve been told that the app will be released in English on January 7th so hopefully there’s not too much longer of a wait for that. That being said, I’ve actually written a mini guide of sorts to help explain the app and its functions according to their explanations. I haven’t really gotten too much time with the app but I’ve kind of memorized most of the settings already. In any case, I’ll make a video going over and covering all of the settings and sharing what they’ve told me the features do. I think another thing that I had heard was that the IMZ was region locked? I can’t verify that but this app is not in the least and actually does not require internet connectivity to function once it’s installed on your mobile device. All the miniapp requires is a working Bluetooth connection and it will communicate just fine. The biggest annoyance so far as that if you swipe away from the WeChat mini app then the Bluetooth connection is lost and you have to reconnect when you reopen the app. I’ve voiced this complaint to them so hopefully they’ll work on something that retains and holds that Bluetooth connection until a prompt is given to break it or some other means. I don’t want to have my phone out constantly when I’m trying to fine tune my settings… kind of a pain in the butt tbh… anywho, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and insights and cheers my friend!
Hey doc! Haha no worries at all. It does take a bit of getting used to and learning the system for sure. I am happy to say that the reel works quite well with a couple of hiccups and what not but I think that’s to be expected for a first product. I have really enjoyed getting to explore this reel and hope to have an on the water video of me bumbling around an exploring features soon. Cheers my friend!
Hey Jacob! That’s a really good question and I think it probably comes down to how much you use the reel, how much abuse does the reel experience, and the quality control. As I am not an expert by any means in electrical engineering or design I can’t really say how well the DC system is physically designed and built. I will say that the system is feature rich and I believe is quite powerful given the user put in the time to learn the system. They do state that the reel is IP68 which is great and means that it can “Protected against being continuously immersed in water for a longer period”. That quote is pulled directly from the IEC, the governing body that grants IP ratings. The circuitry is also dust sealed so my educated guess is that it should be fairly durable. Anywho, it remains to be seen how long the reel will last! Cheers my friend!
Hey Jacob! Yea, if you look at the loongzefishingusa website and go to the low profile version you’ll see a little blurb about the bates/loongze partnership. If I were to guess probably bates owns patents on a few technology features like the brakes and that loongze or loongze’s parent company manufactures the reels but I could totally be wrong. I have no solid confirmation on any of that. They do have some level of partnership though which is clear from the website and the sharing of technology it seems. Everything else is just speculation and guessing. Thanks for sharing that question and cheers my friend!
Been using non DC version for the past few weeks.pretty solid.the only things that ive changed are the drag clicker It sounds ok,just not 'crisp' enough imo 😬😬
Hey fridel! How did you change your drag clicker? I am actually quite fond of the current sound how it is but I understand that it’s a personal preference. Did you adjust the spring or what did you change it to? Cheers my friend!
Hey pampee! Yep, it sure does! The sound is identical to that of the non dc airlite. Virtually everything is the same as the non dc airlite except for the spool and the sideplate. Apologies if I did not share the clicking sounds but everything clicks the same as on the non dc airlite model. Imho, the drag clicker sounds very good and does not feel too harsh. Loongze tuned their clickers very well. Hope that helps and cheers my friend!
Hey Mike! Yea… I’m not quite sure as well myself… I had thought they would have had something by now but it looks like the Chinese are going to beat them to their own game and improve upon their tech?!?! Kind of crazy imho… very cool to see the innovation nevertheless. Thanks for taking the time to comment and cheers my friend!
@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL technicaly shimano did it years ago with the Cardiff and I assume it wasn't a huge success. I'm sure they will follow the popularity of this reel and if it does well they will again make another and it will sell this time.
@@EddieLindsay681 hey Eddie! You are definitely correct. One could also argue that the newer slx dc xt is a bfs reel of sorts. That being said, Shimano’s current DC tech isn’t quite as “sensitive” or “adjustable” as this is. I do hope that seeing these reels will get Shimano to go back to the drawing table and really deliver a dc reel for the bfs market. I’m pretty excited as we’re getting to see all sorts of really cool innovative features and improvements for the bfs market! I am hoping this trend will continue and that the Japanese brands will show us things that will wow us even more. Cheers my friend!
Hey Patrick! The whole naming/branding behind the Acura/acura pro is very confusing. This is the reason that I reached out to them to clarify this a while back. According to them, Soloking/Doviello/Silfast are the brand names that the owner wanted to use. I am not quite sure why that is the case as they already had Soloking for aliexpress and Doviello for Amazon. Silfast was a new brand name that the owner wanted to use and then decided against but I guess they never were able to get rid of the branding on their products. HICC-50 Acura Pro is still the name of the reel but oddly was not printed anywhere on the reel. Fun fact, you can use a small amount of acetone to remove the branding on the reel haha(ask me how I know lol…). Anywho, hope that clarifies things and cheers my friend!
Hey pukau! You are right on the money! It’s super cool that manufacturers are able to harness electromagnetic energy in this way. It’s extremely ingenious imho! Thanks for taking the time to comment and cheers my friend!
I was getting excited for all these DC reels by Daiwa, Kastking, Loongze, etc but they all fail one thing. I don't want to d/l an app to make a reel work. I dont want to control a toy. I want a reel alternative to shimano that you cast and the tiny chip working in conjunction with magnets and the spool to slow it down. To me its more things that can fail and these reels cost more than SLX DC
Hey pi55b! You don’t actually need to download the app if you don’t want to. You’re able to control up to 4 of the 5 modes from the sideplate itself. There is a small learning curve to differentiate the colors of each mode and how to switch through them as well as adjusting the brake settings. I’ll likely make a video showing how to do all that as well as how to use the app. There’s a few reason why this costs more than a slx; the construction is much better(hands down yes… 12+1 bbs and full CNC parts), this is supposed to compete with conquest(I’d say they’re close but now quiiiiiite there), this is likely much lighter than a slx dc, this has many more features and controls a user can access(this is a love it or hate it thing imho). I don’t think that this is an alternative to a Shimano dc as Shimano dc’s aren’t this… sensitive/adjustable. The reel works on the same exact principles that Shimano’s system works; using lenz’s law to power an integrated chip that can affect the spool through electromagnetism. I totally understand where you’re coming from and I totally hear your concern. This reel can do what you are looking for. From my understanding the kk reel cannot and requires the use of the app. Anywho, I hope that helps clarify things a bit! Cheers my friend!
Hey DS! Loongze’s retail price for this reel comes in at a whopping $339 USD. Quite expensive imho but it’s also a very versatile reel if what they are saying is true. So far, from what I’ve seen of the non dc version, the reel is extremely well constructed with a few improvements that can be made to their anodizing process and some slight handle knob slop(this is also seen in made in Japan reels though). You can watch my teardown video of the Airlite for a better idea of what this reel will look like internally. I will be testing the DC reel out thoroughly over a long period of time to get a very holistic view of what the reel can actually do. Thanks so much for your question and cheers my friend!
Hey David! Yep! Everything clicks on this reel and is exactly identical to the non dc airlite model. I didn’t include the sounds because they’re basically the same. I should have made that more clear in the video but I was too excited to share the specs and some of really cool features of the dc version haha. Anywho, hope that helps and cheers my friend!

@@vandn100 hey vand! I hear you and I hope Shimano hears all of this commotion haha. I, for one, am all for seeing innovation in the bfs space as it will help drive the entire niche forwards. I am excited to see what the Japanese brands will answer with! Cheers my friend!
Is the sideplate water proof? Is there a battery? If so easy to replace? Life of it? Thank you for this peek
Hope that helps and cheers my friend!
thank you again.

@@terribleatfishing hey terrible! No problem! Cheers!
Is a Nice reel but definitely need a non bias reviewer. Someone who spent their money and isn't cool with the company
Thanks for showing this! How does one buy one in the US?
Also, how does this compare to the Calcutta Conquest BFS?
I'm down with a DC BFS reel but it has to be usable and be able to make basic adjustments without an App
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Hey Patrick! Happy new year to you as well!!! Cheers my friend I hope you have an amazing 2024!
For orders outside the city, or for going to Indonesia, whether you can or not...
Hey there! Sorry I didn’t quite understand your comment. Cheers!
Great video as always...too old for DC tech Doc 1/5
To me I dont doubt its a good reel but how long will this reel last? What if you get it wet? The non DC version is more appealing ro me personally.
Jimbo said there is some connection beyween Loongze and Bates?
Been using non DC version for the past few weeks.pretty solid.the only things that ive changed are the drag clicker
It sounds ok,just not 'crisp' enough imo 😬😬
Hey fridel! How did you change your drag clicker? I am actually quite fond of the current sound how it is but I understand that it’s a personal preference. Did you adjust the spring or what did you change it to? Cheers my friend!
Maybe I missed it, does it come with drag clicker ?
Great video 👍 I wonder why shimano doesn't make a dc bfs... i have the cardiff dc in my ebay wishlist but too pricey :(

Hey Troy! I got a fever and the only cure is more 🐮 🔔 lol 😆. Cheers my friend!
Good video again bro!
Hey TJ! Thanks bro means a lot to hear that! Thanks for stopping by and seeing what monstrosities the future holds for bfs haha 😆. Cheers my friend!
The acura pro is actually named on reel - Sil Fast - no place on reel does it say Acura
Faraday-Lenz
Pppp
Please tell me how much such a reel will cost?
Way too cool. Drag clicker?
Hey David!
