@@noir52 hey noir! No problem! Glad you were able to find this video. The loongze dbc-2 reels are definitely interesting but not really the most straight forwards to use imho. Let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers my friend!
I was just about to buy the reel. I just spoke with loongze, but after this video with the Bluetooth connection and with no English in the app I might hold for a little longer and get a DC from Shimano. It's a shame to be honest, as i really wanted to buy it, but this detail really matters, and they should make us aware. Can't imagine the frustration being on the bank and having to keep loose connection or worse, not having battery on your phone..... Great video, as always. Thx
Hey Catalin! I totally hear your hesitations so I just want to help clear things up a bit. Ok so first, the app will have an English translation. I was told it will be released on the 7th. The app will break BT connection from distance maybe 3 ft or more and currently it drops connection when you swipe away or close the mini app. Pretty unfortunate but I have been told they are working on allowing the app to hold the BT connection if you swipe away from the app. So English will be available and a constant hold on the BT is being worked on. As far as not having access to your phone for whatever reason you can still use the sideplate controls but the level of control is nowhere near what you get from the app ofc. It’s not perfect but I think it’s a good place to start and a more tunable DC solution than Shimano’s system. Also, Shimano’s DC isn’t “bfs” technically. I’ve always been confused as to why they don’t develop a bfs dc reel as they had the cq 50 dc which was fairly close. Anywho, there definitely is a learning curve to this reel which you’ll see in my first day of use video. That should be out in maybe a week… quite a long video. Anywho, I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and opinions! It’s always interesting to hear what people feel about products and gear! Cheers my friend!
@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL Thanks for taking the time to reply back. Great info in there. I'm looking forward to that video and also adding the cq in the basket. I'll make a call after all my researchers are completed and ofc asking for some feedback from different users. Thx again. Great work, as always 👏

Hey vand! I have tried the reel and you’ll get to see me “learning” how to use the reel soon. The video I shot was over an hour long haha and so I need to get some editing in. Taking a bit longer than most of my other videos so I am asking for a bit of patience with this. The other thing is I had no idea what I was doing when I shot that video so you’ll get to see me learning and fumbling haha. Since then I think I’ve become a lot more proficient with the reel. What’s this mean? It means that there is a learning curve to the usage of the reel. The features are quite innovative but sometimes it’s hard to tell if all are working as intended especially without any sort of detailed explanation on them from loongze. I get that they don’t want to give up trade secrets but I would love to know exactly what is going on. That being said, I have enjoyed the reel and I think it works quite well for a “first” DC reel. Hope that helps a bit and cheers!
Hey vand! Haha I am not asking for trade secrets. I just want to understand a bit more about what’s going on. Imho, the better I understand the “setting” I am adjusting the more effective I can use it. Anywho, as I use the reel more I will share my findings! Look forward to hearing what you think about your DC! Cheers my friend!
Hey Richard! The reel casts great but it does have a few hiccups imho. It’s extremely well made but I think the WeChat mini app, and the Bluetooth implementation need a bit more polishing. They do have a non Bluetooth version of a smaller 50 size coming soon and I will be testing that out. Cheers my friend!
Great video once again. Very good explanation but it isn't for me. Unlike a traditional reel i cant just look at the dial on the side of it and determine where i am and adjust it in an instant. As for an App and all those additional settings, i would be too afraid of dropping my phone in the drink🎣🎣🎣
Hey Adrian! Yea the controls aren’t nearly are simple as an “analog” reel for sure. I think the trade off though are the features you get. I think the reel will be one of those polarizing products where it’s either absolutely loved or absolutely hated and for good reason. It’s a new product and requires people to change from what’s familiar. It’s a familiar age old story and totally understandable. I personally actually have not used the side plate controls exclusively yet myself as I really enjoy all of the minutia you can mess around with in the app. That being said, the app can be quite frustrating at times and I’ll likely go over those shortcomings in a how to video for the app. Thanks as always for sharing your thoughts and insights my friend! Cheers!!!

Hey kruiser! I think most of these reels will need to include the charger. I am finding that casting light lures does not allow the reel to charge itself sufficiently. A bit of a downside imho… That being said, I was told that the charger also allows for good sub 1g lure casting. My copy of the dc airlite did not initially come with a charger but loongze is sending a unit to me. I will report more when I get the charger and get some more use with the reel. About to buy my 1st bfs reel. I was thinking Shimano Calcutta Conquest Bfs Xg, but now I see this reel. I am a little unsure about spending the money on a Chinese reel? How do you think it compares to the Shimano? Hey Jimi! Thanks so much for the question! Unfortunately, I don’t personally own a conquest bfs so I can’t make a direct comparison. However, from all accounts the CQ bfs is an amazingly well built reel and casts extremely well. If you decide going that route I don’t think you will be displeased. To touch on this reel, I would say the build quality is very impressive and it has a lot of pros vs the conquest but it’s not exactly to the same level as the conquest I think. I would say the build quality is probably 90% of the conquest likely. Will the reel fail? No I don’t think so. However, when it comes to the DC system I think it’s something, like every piece of technology out there, that you will learn to love or learn to hate. I have some minor grievances with the tech currently in the application and I’m hoping that loongze will address that issue. So comparing these two reels is a bit like apples to oranges I think and really depends on what you’re comfortable with. Sorry I don’t always like to make a “hands down” recommendation but more provide you with info so that you can make a more informed decision =). Please,, what is the SMALLEST round reel they offer?? And,, does it have to have this Digital brake?? Not sure I wanna be pushing buttons instead of fishing,,, plus, I might set that reel down for a couple years and I’m not sure what kind of life this system is good for? 5 years?, 10 years? Hey David! Currently the smallest reel they have is the b50/51. However, it is only available in a dbc-1 or dbc-2 configuration. If you want a non dbc reel you will have to wait a bit as their non digital b50 reel is slated to be released AFTER a few other reels. Hope this helps and cheers my friend!

Hey doc! I completely understand haha. New technologies are definitely not for everyone and I think this first iteration, while very good, isn’t the most intuitive off the bat. I am looking forward to watching this technology improve and become more user friendly with time though. Hope all is well and cheers my friend!
Hey Eric! Haha yea I would’ve done things differently… but… it’s a decent start and actually aside from the slightly clunky controls I do really enjoy using the reel. It’s not perfect and I do have some complaints(will share these when i explain the app lol) but I’d say that the reel is feature rich and it’s crazy what can be accomplished with this tech. Can’t wait to see what comes next. Cheers my friend and happy new year!
Hey angga! Haha I totally hear you… as with everything in the world, the digital age is really finding its way into everything. Whether we love it or hate it it is coming. I tend to feel that it can be a thing that helps improve lives and makes things more efficient but I also understand that people like traditional things. The good news is I don’t think DC reels will completely replace “analog” reels anytime soon. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions and cheers my friend!
Hey upstreamer! Haha that idea is news to me and I think probably not something that would ever pass muster? I don’t know I can’t say I know anything about that area. In the case of fishing reels though I think DC tech has the potential to be an amazing tool! That being said, I will still enjoy analog reels very much and will continue to use and test them. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and insight and cheers my friend!
Hey ich! I am not sure that this reel is taking all the joy and fun out of fishing haha. You still need to use your thumb and you also still cast. DC systems should aim to help assist the angler and not do everything for them imho. They can also help to make casting more efficient. I think there is a certain amount of buy in and aversion to change which is totally understandable. In my use of the reel I have actually come to enjoy using it. It is… different and yet enjoyable once you get familiar with the system. I think with all new technology it will take some time for people to get comfortable with it and fully understand it before fully adopting it. That being said, I don’t think DC tech will replace “analog” reels anytime soon so there’s nothing to worry about! As always, I greatly appreciate you sharing your thoughts and opinions! Cheers my friend!
Hey andrei! I think that’s true for any product that uses electronics? That being said, the DC unit appears to be sealed and is rated IP68 so I’m not too worried that it will get damaged. The rating tells us that the electronics are essentially dust proof and can withstand being submerged in water for a decent amount of time. Also, I’ve asked loongze and they said that they will have spare parts available as they increase production and they have a 1 year parts and lifetime labor warranty on these reels from my understanding. I hope that helps put your worries at ease a bit? Cheers my friend!

Hey Chris! Thanks for the kind words! I thought some explanation behind how to access the controls and what theyre doing might help people with their reels. Cheers my friend!
Thank bro...got an info details
Hey ridz! Cheers my friend!
Can you give any estimates to the lower weight limit for lures?
Hey larkin! In my usage I’ve been able to cast down to around 0.6g. The distance wasn’t very far as the reel really isn’t made for under 1g. However, the reel does cast 1-1.3g quite nicely. Keep in mind though that the rod being used drastically affects casting performance as well. Hope that helps and cheers!

The bulb will burn out for one thing. Thanks!
I bought one but I can't find the app in App Store. Can you point to the right app? Thank you
Hey alin! Unfortunately, there is no standalone app. You’ll have your download WeChat from the App Store and then install a miniapp inside of WeChat. You’ll have to search for “Loong DC OTA” in the miniapp section. Hope that helps and cheers my friend!
Thanks buddy, this is really helpful.
@AlinAmbrosie hey alin! Ofc my pleasure! Let me know if you have more questions. Cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNELhello! My dad got this reel I thinkkk it’s the same one. He’s having trouble connecting it to his iPhone via Bluetooth it doesn’t appear at all. However on my mom’s Samsung it appears. Were you able to connect to iPhone? Could you help in anyway? Thank you
@@zaydavazquez6659 hey zaydava! Hm… does your dad have the WeChat app and the loongze mini app installed on the phone? If so, when he goes to connect in the app, he must have his Bluetooth enabled on his iPhone, and then he needs to single or double click the button on the reel while the loongze app is searching for a Bluetooth device. Let me know if he is doing all these things. Cheers my friend!
Ok, you turn it on with 2 taps, now how do you turn it off?? Ive tried 2,3,4,5 taps. Holding for 5, 10, 20 30 seconds. Still experimenting. Anyone??
@@noir52 hey noir! The reel doesn’t have a traditional “off” selection. Instead it uses an auto shut off timer. You can select how long the reel stays on but you need to use the app for this setting. Have you installed the app yet ooc? There are many more settings you get access to by using the app. Cheers my friend!
Can it fish? 😂 You lost me at the blinking, macro, micro. I have to bring my son to use this.
Hey beretta! Haha it can definitely fish! It does take some learning as do as devices lol. I get that it’s not for everyone but it really is cool to see DC tech making its way into the BFS space! I’m fairly certain DC won’t replace normal analog reels anytime soon but I think any innovation is exciting to see. While I wouldn’t have implemented the brakes in the same way that loongze did it’s not too complex? Haha what do you think? Cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL They are really pioneers and of course this is the future, its just that it needs a really good polish how to use it.. Who needs more than 640k anyway.. 😄
@Beretta102 hey beretta! Haha yea I agree it could be a lot more simple and intuitive for sure… It’s a great first iteration and I hope that they look at all of the feedback people give them. Really excited to see this part of the bfs niche develop and mature with time! Cheers my friend!
great as always.....too much tech for me Doc 1/5
Hey doc! I completely understand haha. New technologies are definitely not for everyone and I think this first iteration, while very good, isn’t the most intuitive off the bat. I am looking forward to watching this technology improve and become more user friendly with time though. Hope all is well and cheers my friend!
I've taken physics classes that were not this complicated.
Damn, as a traditional person.... advancement of technology and features really fucked me up
Just wait for the social credit score system, the digital Gulag.
Why high tech reel that took the joy and fun out of fishing...it helps with casting but it is not the same.
If the electronics inside get fried then this reel becomes useless.
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL actually it does but I wish I can be able to see them too since I am working electronics and fixing them might not be an issue. Just the firmware flashed on the chip.
Thank you for all these videos. Really helpful! 😊
@@andreiiancu5144 hey andreii! I want to take a closer look at the DC module myself as well but as I’m still getting use out of the reel and I don’t want to potentially create an issue. Once I get a bit more use I may take a closer look at the module and share that. Thanks for sharing your thoughts my friend and cheers!
My head hurts
Hey dusko! Hahaha I agree and it’s why I made this guide to hopefully explain the side plate controls a bit better. This isn’t the most straightforward system to use =\. Hopefully, loongze can come up with a more intuitive control system in the future. Thanks so much for the comment and cheers my friend!
