I was actually there. The rain was overwhelming but the crowd didn't care. Unfortunately that was the last concert with Prince, I got to witness. I have seen him 3 times in Denmark and a couple of times in the US.

The music industry has changed so much I am not even sure how young bands even make any money these days since more and more clubs expect them to play for free, no record or CD sales really anymore (??) - i guess its all merchandise and touring now? Far cry from the days when music companies were handing out a million dollars just for a band to make some lousy forgettable video....

Wow!!? Prince was so exciting to watch from his one of a kind outfits to his vast song selections to his mastery of many different instruments. I mean there was absolutely nothing boring about Prince. Every show was a delightful, memorizing happy surprise. He is the only entertainer who does back to back concerts. And they will be different. I mean the order of the songs, completely different songs and arrangements from the previous night. Fantastic. I know some of his band members in an interview said " You better be on your toes when you work with Prince. He will change the order of songs at a drop of a hat. And you don't know which one until he throws you a certain signal. Prince said in an interview that he gets bored doing the same exact concert night
after night. If that is not the mind of a genius I dont know what is. Lol

A blast it was, even though it got cut short be that massive rain shower. Of course we get lots of that here but even for our taste this was over the top. But came back the day after and saw that show to the end, very different by the way. It was a magical night and the feeling of togetherness with Prince and love between him and the fans was clear. Felt immortal after being in his presence. Floating around without touching the ground unable to go home.

The only thing to dislike about this concert is that it is quite short for Prince’s standards. The performance though was to his insurmountable quality
Someone else here wrote that it got rained out. The power went out too apparently.
People on stage dancing with him are so close to him - I’m surprised he allowed that.

Yes he did that many many times. He would even walk back and forth between audience members dancing on stage. I was always nervous that some overzealous fan wouldn't act right. But everybody kept their cool. Except for one concert when a very immature young girl got on stage. She started lifting up her dress dancing like a wild stripper. Then she started chasing Prince all over the stage. Prince was jumping on and off his piano to get away from her. Eventually he had to call for security. I dont remember which exact concert it was.

Prince directed EVERYTHING in his shows. He beat the stuffing out of the sound people, because he wanted it "perfect" for the people who came to see him. I miss this man.
nobody left even comes close to the purple one's pure talent...even after 40 years i still find myself being gobsmacked by his brilliance
His one sound man, Scotty I believe was his name, said in an interview that something went particularly well during a show, and Prince was so pleased he handed him $6000 in cash after the show.
This is what u really call a concert prince was very trustworthy of letting his friends up the stage to dance and have a good time it was all about having a good time and partying with prince and enjoy some fantastic music 🎶 now and days your music artist won't let u get no where that close to them ever and with prince people knew how to behave themselves.
His fans respected him as he did us. Had the privilege to get on stage during hit & run tour, he was within arms reach, but I didn’t. Lol

Yeah he was so on top live from 2009-2011. He really was in another place just between those times.
Not to say other years wasnt awesome but i really , really enjoyed those years live with him.
My son who is 11 today found Prince when he was 7 and he is huge fan and soon got more Prince shit than i 💜💜💜💜💜
@@tonywilliams8565 Weren't the people who came onstage V.I.P. NPG members? Because letting just anyone up on stage would be unsafe for Prince and the band. A security nightmare.
I've heard and thankfully now seen many many Prince concerts...this is up there like he is shredding and also did something I never seen him do play guitar on the frets and funk out on the keyboard. On fire that night

This was the first night of two, the rain was as sudden as it was massive; from what I could see from downstage left, the power went out for the lighting (as you can see on the clip) and the sound died shortly afterwards. They poured water out of the Nord keyboard up front afterwards (RIP Nord?) Nevertheless a fantastic show!

Listening to Andy Allo singing Crimson and Clover - Prince had a thing with her. The police investigators found love letters from her amongst his things at Paisley Park. References made to their special night together in Montreal while on tour. They are adults and can do what they want - but I wonder how well that sat with the rest of the band. You can see during concerts that they have little smiles for each other. Does the rest of the band just take that in stride? Or are they bothered by the extra attention that Andy gets? Just curious …

That version al the NPG were a very mature group of musicians, his most professional band ever, they were all on annual contracts and friendly but pros. This wasn't the Wendy/Lisa/Susannah/Jill/Vanity/Appolonia/Susan days where it was all young drama...but I will say that you never saw Shiela E. and Andy onstage at the same time, Andy was the most lovely, inspirational, muse of them all, still making music, TV, and movies, his last great love...please re-release Superconductor.

How did he never make mistakes? The obvious thing to recognise is his guitar skills but let's take a minute to remember no matter the situation, festival, arena, studio, night club HE NEVER SINGS A SINGLE SECOND OUT OF KEY.
a year or so ago i had just watched this Copenhagen show and the Sign of the Times concert film back to back when my niece showed up...her date had flaked out and wanted me to go with her to see DRAKE as she had that extra ticket....I had heard of DRAKE but wasnt familiar w/his music so mainly went to spend some time with my niece ....I almost wished i had not because she was trying to get her mind off being turned down by her date by getting into the show...and myself all i could think of was how lame a live performer DRAKE was after 5 hours of watching Prince in concert so i couldnt even fake being impressed by DRAKE...needless to say it wasnt the best time for either me or my niece - but does anyone else have that problem with other acts in concert, that problem being comparing those acts to Prince's live performances and always being "yeah they were OK i guess but..."?

Yes, no one compares. His catalogue is immense!! Most acts may have one or two songs I like and that's it. I try to be openminded, BUT when have experienced he best, it is difficult. No one has stage presence as sensational as his. @@devinp.
C'est normal il n'y a pas deux Prince et il n'y en aura jamais. Je l'ai vu au moins une quinzaine de fois et cela a toujours été exceptionnel 😮 je l'écoute depuis plus de 40 ans et je n'ai jamais décroché 💜. Mais quand je voyais d'autres concerts j'évitais de penser à lui sinon c'est très compliqué. Je me suis bien éclaté dans d'autres concerts ( j.Brown, S.Wonder, b.Springsteen et bien d'autres) mais Prince c'était vraiment autre chose impossible à comparer avec d'autres ( surtout avec certains 😅 ). 💜☮️💜🕊️.

I don’t think he was hurting around that time...to be honest, 2010 onwards seemed like he was reenergized...I’ve seen him in 2010 and 2011 and he was dancing his ass off in both shows. But who knows what really was going on with him, he stayed an enigma right until the very end.
@@doalwa apparently he had some kind of hip surgery around 2008 - perhaps had the joint scraped? Refused joint replacements for religious reasons - which is a real shame.
