Its interesting to see how Caimans have evolved for their environment. They have more robust osteoderms to protect from larger threats, more bony ridges on their head to also protect them and nocturnal because that's when the larger crocodilians are out. Some species are very terrestrial because they are smaller so can dedicate more muscle into mobility instead of just supporting their weight.

Yay! Wonderful job! Thanks for putting him/her back in the wild. I work at a wonderful reptile zoo, and just went through some intense crocodilian training. From capturing, to "holding," to taping, to showing, to back down, etc. etc. So many little steps you have to remember to not get bitten!
Crocodilians have very powerful closing muscles attached to their jaws, but because of that they have equally weak opening muscles as well. you can keep their jaws shut but they can easily shake you off.

Crocodilians have very powerful closing muscles attached to their jaws, but because of that they have equally weak opening muscles as well. you can keep their jaws shut but they can easily shake you off.
