Very cool video! A friend in Colorado sells some trilobites that are about 12-15" long and about 8" wide. She claimed it was a very rare Morroccan one. I've seen customized crocodile jaws from there in a sandstone type matrix, as well as blue, red & green quartz geodes, and even galena geodes fashioned out of clay. The quartz geodes are real, but dyed with food coloring.
I just got a nice Moroccan Parallejuras trilobite and it has a tiny tiny crack that is filled with a yellowish mineral that goes though the stone its on and the trilobite and it has no air pockets and I can see a faint crack where the matrix or that stone was glued back together, So I hope its real xD
Hi Mr. I just bought a trilobite for my son, and he is sad because I told him that his trilobite could be a fake one, is there any way in which I could show you some pictures. Maybe you can help me to solve this misters. Thanks!
We would happily take a look and give you our thoughts! You can send some pictures to silvercove_online@outlook.com or find silver cove online on Facebook and send us a message that way. Looking forward to hearing from you!
would you say village silversmith that sales fake ones but they are smaller then the first one that you were showing and also they were selling a dino egg that was date from 80 million years ago not sure the price they had it going for but it looks fake because it was the the color and it did not have any so cracks on it that a real one may have
Not all fossils have scientific value. Many fossils are considered common and are discarded by the professional paleontologist. That is where private industry can do their part and help keep fossil safe. Mother nature can be ruthless with her ability to destroy fossils. It’s important the scientific community and private industry work hand-in-hand to preserve our history.
There is enough Trilobites on this planet to give every man woman and child. They’re one of the most abundant fossils on the planet, found all over the world! In fact there’s a U-dig site in Utah. You can fill drums full in a day
@@SilverCove that’s true and one in California they are very much legal and in my place at the falls in western Washington state very nice little compressed but look good
i cracked my trilobite open to check if it's real,
and yes it's real!
but it's broken now

Cast are meant for display too not meant for frauds since real ones are for a museum
80% of museum pieces are cast. Take a look at the fine print next time you are in a museum.
@@SilverCove truly so paleontologist can study the real ones
