@@bluecheese135 Also fixing military postings would go a long way. No one likes moving every couple of years or so, civillian jobs rarely need people to move plus they pay better.
Military housing needs to be addressed. Two years wait list to get into a PMQ if you're posted in from off base with dependants. So you get to live on IR for 2/3's of your posting before you can move your family in to a Q with you. Just to do it all over again when they post you out after 5 years. Pay needs to be addressed. It's hard to want to stay in when you could make more money working in the civilian sector.
Fix procurement system so that needed equipment (i.e. enemy drone identification & destruction, SPH replacement for towed M777, tracked IFV...) is identified, procured from partners or built within a reasonable time frame.
This was amazing. Thank you for promoting my family in a good light. We are so focused on the negative on what happens in the CAF and you are doing the right thing by not falling into it. Thank you so much. We always have things to work on, but we will get there.

Having lived in Norway with a population of a mere 5+ people, they have implemented a choice of Conscription or a posting with Social Services. I'd add a free education within and 3 years after. Trades Apprenticeship and free pharma to the choice of the military
30 May 2023 the military grievance committee decided the vaccine mandate was an unlawful order. It did not come through the traditional operational requirement but was instead a directive and the implementation was crude and overly aggressive. General Vance and other senior leadership objected to a mandate but were shortly thereafter removed due to SA scandals. Op Valour is the name for a lawsuit by 329 troops over their “unsuitable for future service” dishonorable discharge. Further lawsuits are being organized for those who were coerced and those who were vaccine injured. 2 JTF troops were removed from their unit for privately attending the freedom convoy, a 3rd was removed for merely donating. WO Topp is being court martialed. The troops in Latvia are buying new gear out of pocket as the issued kit has outdated and inadequate protection. The troops in Poland are paying out of pocket for meals. We’re in trouble.
Dallas Alexander the man with the longest sniper kill in history was fired for not getting the vaccine. Those are the type of men we need who stand for there beliefs.
A lot of recruits are posted to a base after their BMQ where they spend months and sadly sometimes even longer waiting for an opening for their specific trade courses. Usually this is busy work, if their lucky its OJT with a unit in their chosen trade. If they are posted outside of their original location, they often choose to live in shacks or military housing. They are charged half or full rations at the mess and again for whatever quarters are available.
Sounds awesome!! After BMQ recruits will often do an 8 month training course posted somewhere like gagetown. For those trying to live cheap in the barracks, food could still cost $1000 a month... removing that hardship will only help the training programs. Two thumbs up in my opinion
Well done thanks for this excellent and informative content: would increase pay immediately, have a stronger marketing recruitment presence at the secondary school level across the country and spend some money on the base barracks/family homes and base amenities...take a drive through most of our bases across the country to witness the disgraceful conditions our military families live in.
We must not forget CAF members are soldier first. I dont care what your hair color is or what tou want to call yourself, buf you MUST reach battle ready standards across all trades. Along side that, stop dropping the standards. Soldiers first!
The only thing keeping people in the caf right now is the depression proof salary and the time off. Members with 10+ years of service are ready to pull pin. People from the rank of MCpl - WO voluntarily release on a daily basis. A large number of Jr ranks do not resign after their initial contract. Most trades that offer a civilization qualification lose the member when they get a red seal, or ticket. There should be the same amount of pay scales for Cpl as their is for Capt. All the members promoted too quickly without the proper trade skills or leadership abilities and have no justification for their rank other than being the friend of a higher up need to be removed. SR nco's need to be held accountable. The medical sytem in the caf is completely broken and detrimental to the health and wellbeing of it's members. The list goes on and on. I would not recommend service unless your plan is to get education and training then leave to get a civilization job. Use the military just like the military has used it's troops for the last 20 years.
Thank you for this, well done❗️Constructive observations and yes we need to redouble our support of our forces with state of the art kit and reasonable compensation.
I love our war fighters, there is no better trained there is no bigger heart in any soldier bigger than the Canadian soldier. That being said I'll shine a light on the dark places surrounding CAF recruitment and exodus. The sexual assault and misconduct that was rampant took some shine off what CAF is from leadership down, I mean when the leader of your air force is found to be a sexual predator stealing thousands of teenagers underwear who broke into 100s of residences and raped and killed all while in charge of the air force and flying dignitaries should make you question everything sooner and take complaints lodged seriously. Then came the COVID mandate which forced some of our best and brightest and battle hardened force members throughout CAf and CANSOF and JTF2 to get the vaccine or get out it was that simple and most weren't opposed to the vaccine, their training made them think things through but brass wasn't accommodating so we lost a ton of knowledge that would and could be passed down in combat awareness and practice. So basically I'm saying CAF brass and government choices shot recruitment in the foot
As a serving member for 14 years now, i can without reservation say that this is THE WORST the CAF has EVER been, E V E R. We just had a "pay increase" but they cut down on a major benefit for housing allowance, alot of us are LOSING money after this pay raise and projecting multiple releases (quitting), and all the Top generals getting caught with sexual misconduct really dealt a huge blow to the Morale and welfare of the troops. Couple that with a complete and utter lack of support from our government (1.45% of GDP whereas NATO MANDATES 2% AT A MINIMUM) and the never-ending push of RGB+ propaganda, and the dwindling number of new recruits, it's really hard to recommend this organization as a career option. Actively looking for a way out, but the pay and benefits are the only reason why I'm in still
Talk to someone in the trade you want, not just recruiters. Talk through the training up to rank of corporal. This could take 2 years or more depending if the courses you need are actually available.
I served a long time, all our family served in some branch of the service, my son joined the army. But, with all honesty, I hesitate the recommend it now under the current Leadership. For me there has been too many detrimental changes for the good of the Service, and far to many Higher Ranks who are willing to go along with these changes. Do your research, then make your own choice, try it. If it's not for you, complete your contract then don't sign on again.
Here's the real report: A desperate lack of equipment, both modern and outdated. A purposeless navy with aged ships in poor standing. Abandonment of the skilled and capable members in the armed forces community, due to weird radical-left sexual political policy interference. A complete lack of motivation among the population to enlist (see previous item). A commander-in-chief who is totally, utterly, completely not worth dying for. A budget that doesn't even touch the most basic needs of a military, and no motivation for our "leaders" to do a single damn thing about it. Our door is wide open for invasion. This kind of sharp systematic dismantlement is clearly not an accident.
Not enough new recruitments . Makes me laugh if they opened the restaurant we'd have a a big military just our government doesn't let us join they always say there to full try again next year

Better pay will help with retention. With the current inflation, the military simply does not pay enough. Civillian jobs offer higher pay on average.

A Navy with no air power is not a Navy but is a support force for a Navy the question is Who's Navy are we supposed to be supporting!
An Airforce with no air superiority aircraft is not an Airforce but is a support force for an air force, who's Airforce is the question?
I do believe however, you should pay back your R&B if you "jam - out" of basic training.
