Hi Mark, thanks for a great video.I've just cleaned & rebuilt the same carb., but after watching you, I intend stripping it down again tomorrow, in order to polish up the faces to ensure they are perfectly flat. Well done. Paul Lucas.

Cheers Paul, hope you are enjoying building up your bike. I find it all therapeutic.......until it goes wrong!

Funfact: 'Amal' is just an abbreviation of 'Amalgamated.'

I wish I had access to a barn full of bits, because I think mine is missing quite a few! The next Bantam video is starting to put together the bits scattered all over the floor in Part 1 so I will know more soon so please call back for more Bantam stuff and thanks for watching.

Good Mornig Mark Hope you are well, thanks for the video very interesting. When you polished the faces to make them flat, was it on a sheet of glass ,wet and dry(what grade) and was the lube WD40?.Sorry if I missed it.Thanks Steve.

Hi Steve, how are you doing? The wet and dry was 800 grade and as you said I used a bit of WD40 to lube it up but I suppose water would have been fine too.

With the float and top hat filter being a new formula of plastic, do you think that the plastic on the banjo bolt will hold up to the ethanol based new fuel. Also would you replace the fuel lines? I am hearing horror stories but have not seen how bad or quickly the old formulations of plastic and rubber degrade with the blended fuel. On the needle and seat, would you polish the seat for the new needle or only if appeared damaged. I worked on hydraulic systems and when we changed from a paraffin based fluid to synthetic the seals were shot in 6 months and hoses blistered in less than 2 years.Another great video, Thanks for sharing.

Good question Max, I do not know about the plastic, I suspect it will be more resistant than rubber but time will tell. I will be fitting new fuel lines, I have some which claim to be resistant to pure ethanol and as the bike will only ever have 5% petrol in it they should be ok. I did not mention cleaning the seat in this video, although I used cotton buds and metal polish in the Firebird video. The seat was pretty good though perhaps being a two stroke helped? As for rubber rotting, I was amazed the other day to find petrol squirting from one of the pipes on my 2cv which had seemed perfect when fitted. I also have an intermittent fuel supply problem ( I think ) so I am going to drop the tank and change all the lines. Thanks as usual for watching!
