AFFILIATE LINK DISCLOSURE: Friends, making a quality Loloho video is kind of like making sausage - only slightly more violent. It's a ridiculous amount of work that typically involves high dollar camera drops, blue-screen-of-death computer crashes, and at least one angry shotgun wielding old man shouting, “Hey! Get the hell outta here!” Once the final video is posted, rewards here on RUclips are few and far between (unless you are a masochist who enjoys being verbally abused by anonymous trolls). One saving grace is our affiliate links. JUST CLICKING THESE LINKS HELPS TO SUPPORT OUR LITTLE SHOW. Think of this clicking as like tipping - except that it doesn't cost you anything extra! If you eventually make a purchase via one of our affiliate links, we will receive a few pennies (and Sean typically invests these pennies in duct tape and video gear). Again, it doesn't cost you anything to click these links, and it's a great help to us. As always, safe travels, happy camping, and THANK YOU!

One thing I would like to add to your terrific review is, the Disney staff at FW is amazing. We had two issues there...first a very drunk young couple in a tent next to our RV site...they made loud...very loud noise all night long and we head a small child with us. It was bad, and the park security folks came and tossed them out! Then we were visited by the management staff....they gave us free tickets to the park, fast passes, and were so nice, I have stayed in touch with one of the gents as a friend. The other issue was a stolen item, taken from my wife’s things while in the bathhouse shower. Disney replaced the item, no questions asked. It was a sizable cost, and they were so gracious about it! Great people, and a great place to be. Love your video! Keep on rollin!

    Long Long Honeymoon
    Fort Wilderness RV Campground video
Very sweet, charming and informative. Brings back some great family memories!
Last time our family stayed at DisneyWorld the kids were in 8th and 10th grade. We'd went several times in between as they grew-up.
We're from Wis. and have done a lot of tent camping so as part of our Disney experience we spent some time checking out Ft. Wilderness. We walked through the rv area and talked with a retired couple who were spending a month there.
The biggest memory for my wife and I was that we chose to come to DisneyWorld on our honeymoon!
We knew we'd luxuriate in the warm weather, spotless grounds, lush landscaping, Royal Swan resort, night atmosphere, fine restaurants, inter-park transportation, fireworks, and yes, even the rides and attractions.
A perfect no hassle, no stress opportunity to "just be".
Thanks for sparking our treasured experiences.

We love Ft Wilderness. We have tent camped but also have rented a campsite and rented an RV from a local-to-Disney company. When we arrived, everything was set up and all we did was just move into the RV, We're still in the looking before buying stage so this has enabled us to see what size/type RV we want.
The activities at the campground are great and the breakfast buffet at the restaurant is wonderful.

My wife and I are currently here at Fort Wilderness Campground in the 1600 loop. This is our 3rd trip here since October of 2017. We enjoy the campground more then the other resorts and often spend more time around the campground than we do in the parks. We really enjoy your awesome videos. Keep them coming!!!!!

Stayed at Fort Wilderness for 5 days in early October. Made reservations 60days in advance. The campsite was beautiful. I was amazed how clean it was kept. While we were there every time a RV left within 15min there was a crew that arrived and cleaned. To the point they power washed and blow dried the site before the next RV arrived ! WOW! I tried to come back Christmas week and was told I had to make reservations 18months to 2 years in advance. I think it was worth it. But not something I would do every year. That said I will go back again.( It was I in Oct.2016 )

So glad you guys are around. I'm in the learning curve and you guys are definitely a huge help, I'm an avid tent and survivor camper but don't how anything works in my little trailer. What is an inverter, does it work automatically when I plug things in when boon docking. I bought an extra battery excited to see how everything works. Will cook on the cook top and not use the microwave for my first time out. i've learned so much from you guys, please keep posting. I'm traveling solo in a 2011 Chevy Traverse LTZ with factory tow package towing a 2015 Coleman 16FB, with my dog Blitz. I found this brand new trailer for $8,500. Now buying all the other stuff you have have to acquire to get the trailer on the road. I invested in a Hensley Cub Hitch, expensive but totally worth it. Absolutely no trailer sway even with high winds and huge trucks going by. I was traveling at 65mph, very happy about that and the Traverse pulled it very easily, just like a fith-wheel and i can even turn the trailer in a normal width road. . Have you tried one? you could contact Hensley, I'm sure they would lend you one. Hensley folks are awesome and talk you though the hitching and unhitching pocess until you get the hang of it. .

Hello! Good to see you looking so good! I live in Florida and I own a small RV rental business. We do a lot of business for Disney's RV park. Something I don't believe you mentioned...the RV park has an airport shuttle. I love meeting my renters at the park and setting up with them as we go through how to operate the RV. Or, I pick them up at the airport and go to the closest Walmart so they can do their shopping before they head to the park. If some of your viewers want to experience the RV life but don't have access to an RV, there are two sites to look for a rental...RVShare and Outdoorsy are two of the biggest. Happy RVing everyone!

Absolutely love staying here. We are season pass-holders from another state and stay here at least a couple weeks a year. The 800 loop is our favorite (also a pet loop). Hoop-Dee-Doo is a great dinner show in the campground. We find it so relaxing to be able to go to a park for half a day then return to our camper and make lunches or dinner, take naps and actually relax then return to a park for the night shows. So much better than being in the park for an entire day and having to pay for all the park food and returning to a cramped hotel room with your family exhausted. Definitely the best way to do Disney :) FYI...you may want to book out as soon as you can. We have had to book as early as 15 months to get in for Thanksgiving week.

    Dear Sean and Kristy
We are loyal Loloho watchers and, thanks in some measure to you two, are proud owners of an new 2017 Airstream 23fb Flying Cloud and Ford F-250 pickup! Thanks to your previous videos, upon purchasing our new 2017 Flying Cloud, we spent our first 3 nights at Fort Wilderness. It was a great place to break in the new rig. We have been back about 4 times since and in fact just missed you all by about a week. We were there just two weeks ago, staying in the 400 loop, also at a premium site (only type available). Dittos to all you said about Fort Wilderness! It is our favorite place to go, among some other really good places in Florida. We are planning on a first long, cross country trip to Utah, perhaps next summer.
Thanks for a great series and very entertaining vignettes!

We used to stay at Fort Wilderness often when our kids were younger, using the Fleetwood trailers, which were a great deal in the 80s and 90s. Then they converted them to "Wilderness Cabins," which cost over $300 a night. Our children loved, loved, loved the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue.

A great video. My wife and I camped there in a tent many years ago (1976). The weather was fantastic and was not so hot! The park was great then and had a very different look. That trail behind your camper is the remnants of the old steam train rail that circled the campground. The cliff notes version of the difference between standard, preferred, and premium sites; location and size of the concrete pad. Standard and preferred pads are shorter (and i think narrower), the remaining length of the site is coarse sand. We love Ft. Wilderness and will be there later this year. This video made us both anxious to get down there.

LOVED your video on Fort Wilderness! We have been annual pass holders to WDW for almost 20 years (got married at The Floridian) but even though we have never stayed at the campground (trying to convince wife to go for it next year - we have always stayed at The Wilderness Lodge) we have visited it many times and it looks great! Can't wait. As long time Disney folks I have some comments about things raised in your video.
Cost - Yes $100 per night is high even for a premium campground BUT remember that rates at the Wilderness Lodge, Just across the lake from you right now are between $439 - $499 per night. If you are going with 2 adults and a few kids it can be a HUGH savings and you still get all the ambiance and advantages of a Disney Resort. As you mentioned, this is really a destination campground all in itself.
Transportation - In the last 20 years we have probably made between 75 - 100 trips to WDW and have NEVER used our personal vehicle for transportation even once! If you need to drop your pet off at the day care, you may have to, but other than that just leave your car/truck parked. Between the boats, monorail, and bus system you can get to any place on property much more efficiently than trying to drive, find a parking place, and then walk or take a tram to the entrance. Transportation is free. Leave the driving to Disney and enjoy the relaxation.
Food - Totally agree that for the most part the food is relatively expensive and of only mediocre quality with one BIG exception - EPCOT World Showcase. This is in the back of EPCOT which most people seem to forget about. Quite simply, the food there is EXCELLENT. You will find all types of ethnic food in restaurants located in exhibits sponsored by various countries. Some of the best Moroccan, Japanese, French and Mexican (true Mexican not Tex-Mex) food I have ever had has been at World Showcase. Prices are what you would expect at a quality restaurant. The kids will eat junk food in the parks. I hold out for World Showcase. The "all you can eat" breakfast bar at the Trails End restaurant at the campground was also quite good and not outrageously priced.
Gators - We have frequently seen gators in the lake, sometimes close to shore but never on one of the beaches. After a gator related tragedy a few years ago retaining walls and safety barricades were put in place at all the lake beaches. The gators are also frequent visitors to the golf courses. When I was discussing this with a Florida native a few years ago he responded "This is Florida. If you put a pail of water out in your backyard at night, you'll find a gator in it in the morning." 'Nuff said.
Getting around the campground - As you mentioned, there are tons of golf carts but pretty much all the roads are bicycle accessible also. Many people bring their own but you can rent as well. Even though you may be close to the dock, the campground is HUGH. I made the mistake of trying to walk from the dock (took the boat over from the Wilderness Lodge) to the trading post in the middle of summer one time. Never again. Also, the campground is the only place in Disney that is Segway friendly. They used to have Segway tours (probably still do) where they teach you to ride and then take you on a 2 hour tour of the surroundings. I fell in love with the Segway so much during one of our trips I bought one when I got home and now take it on all of our RV camping trips.
Thanks again for a great review of what looks to be a great campground. I can't wait to explore it in our 38 ft. Hideout - yes some of your most ardent followers actually do not have an Airstream.

Haven't stayed in the campground since 1976. Taking my wife there around Christmas this year as a birthday-Christmas gift. She wants to see decorations in the parks as well as the campground. When you walked behind your campsite and on that gravel path, I believe that's the old Fort Wilderness Railroad road bed.

Pro tip: If you stay on-property, NEVER drive yourself to the theme parks. It's a major PITA and a real time-sink. WDW has an excellent internal transportation system. Use the buses, boats, and monorail. Your rack rate includes them so you might as well use them! If you don't want to "rough it" in an RV (lol), check out Disney's Value Resorts. No matter where you stay, buy a "passport" multi-day multi-park pass. Consider getting an annual pass if you're a frequent visitor, especially if you're a Florida resident.

    • @JohnMarucci

Respectfully disagree. I stayed at Ft Wilderness last week. Took the bus to Epcot. Took 15 min to walk to the bus stop, 20 minutes wait for a bus, 15 minutes to get to the park. 50 minutes from door to door. Coming back was worse (1:05) b/c the bus drops off at Wilderness Lodge first. I am an annual pass holder, so I can park for free. Next time, I took my truck and it took only 20 minutes from door to door. My point is, Disney transportation isn't always a good idea. It really depends on where you are staying and the routes they take. Some places the bus service is abysmal, like the value resorts mentioned. Long lines, few buses and get stuffed in. Don't close the parks and expect to get on a bus to value resort quickly. I've waited for over an hour waiting for a bus at MK when closing the park. I use rental cars often for this reason, There are some exceptions, but from a couple of decades of doing Disney from many resorts, it isn't a given that Disney transportation is a slam dunk as depicted.

Understand your comments regarding the transportation system. Sometimes you get stuck. Depends on the time of day also. (Less buses in the middle of the day) Once you get to know the bus schedule (I'm also a long time annual pass holder) it is easier to predict. And don't forget, the transportation can be as much fun as the destination. You could have taken the boat to Magic Kingdom and the Monorail to EPCOT. When I'm at Disney, I try to forget the clock as much as possible and just enjoy the experience.

It was great to see you guys on our loop at the Fort last week. Those were my kids riding bikes in the video and our rig even made a few cameos in the B roll footage! The kids were very excited to see themselves on RUclips and are convinced they are famous. I hate that it didn’t work out for us to stop by and say hello in person at a time other than your active live stream, but glad I can at least comment and let you guys know how much I have enjoyed your videos since purchasing our first RV this past year. To my favorite RV Couple: Thanks for the video. I am convoying with my family and sister-in -law from MA to Ft Wilderness in April with out campers. This video is helpful. Full disclosure, I'm not a Disney guy either. Would rather be out west boondocking. But since I have little kids, I have to do it. I heard a bottle water is $6:50? Now that's Magic! Can't wait!

Love your videos. You guys covered a lot but there is also a Easter egg that does not get advertised very much, the Electrical Water Pageant runs through various Bay Lake locations and the beach at Fort Wilderness happens to be one of the stops. Just bring your favorite hot or cold beverage and find a nice place to sit on the sand and watch a nice light show.

This Disney Park is also on the Disney Vacation Club program, so if you are a member, you can use your points to pay for the campground. That can equate to a month or more of stay depending on your points purchased. The only thing you need to pay for are things not covered (tickets, extra activities, food). We bought in when it first started decades ago and it has more than paid for itself in Disney stays in FL, Hilton Head, Cruises and also trading our points for locations all across the world. We even got married on the Disney Cruise in the Bahamas on DVC Pts. and took our extended family with us (parents, siblings and family) and all we paid was the wedding fee, alcohol, flowers and tip.

The railroad track was popular back in the 70s. It was a small-scale railroad but the track was not laid correctly and the cars kept derailing so they took it down. Also, the tracks ran far too close to camp sites and there was a potential safety issue. I have not heard that anyone was ever injured on the tracks, but the potential alone was worrisome so that was just another reason why Disney discontinued the railroad.

I love Ft. Wilderness. ❤️❤️❤️The first time I stayed there was in an Airstream in the 1974ish era, in my late teens early 20's. They used to use the same trams as they use in the theme park parking lots to pick you up near your campsite. Later at night those trams became rolling parties. When they started to use the busses some of the Disney magic left. We're big time Disney lovers. The prices have gotten out of hand but it's still worth a trip. For what it's worth if you pick carefully you can stay at the Disney resorts for less than the campground.

  • @chartle1
    @chartle1 6 лет назад

Oh and you need to book as early possible. Since there are very few sites vs room at the other resorts they fill up quickly.
Also some offside people will book a throw away site just to get onsite perks for a few days which really screws up trying to get the dates you want.

  • @rvninnorthcarolina3377
    @rvninnorthcarolina3377 5 лет назад

We go there all the time. We generally stay in the 800 to 900 loops...these are a little older and the trees are mature...also pet loops :-) . Yeah....not cheap. Stayed there week before Christmas and it was 120 per night on the premium sites we were on. But if you like Disney and you are good with resort style camping this is the best. We go there and never go to the theme parks. Plenty of things to do in the area without getting into a park.
Book this as soon as you can...we generally do it a year in advance. It is not always full...but generally it is full, so get your reservations as soon as you can!

This is the sling we use (shameless affiliate link: amzn.to/2Bdm6cC) and it is brilliant - some of the best money we've spent on a pet carrier. Our chihuahua LOVES it. I love Ft. Wilderness. You are in the dog loop, I would assume. I have been there many times. Always at the time you are there. Back then there were what they called, "The Snow Birds" who spent the winters there and that is how I got to go. I had friends who did this and as a result got to know the whole gang of people who were staying in Ft. Wilderness. What a fun time it was. I remember on one trip, I went for a long walk through all the beautiful wilderness and realized that I was totally lost, after walking for about 45 min. Lucky for me, one of the large 3/4 seater golf carts came by and picked me up. They used to have those carts just for that sort of thing. Snow Birders were not spring chickens.😁 Transportation was great on the little ferry and we spent a lot of time at Wilderness Lodge in the evenings, just sitting in the BIG lounge area and trying to find all the Mickey heads that were hidden throughout. Simple things, but fun things. Enjoy your time and I am envious.

We took the kids to Ft. Wilderness many years ago. We rented a permanently installed trailer. It was the cheapest way to stay in the park at that time. Plus we stopped for groceries and ate breakfast in the trailer. The park is massive so to save valuable ($$$) time we rented a golf cart to get around. The kids loved the cart. We loved commuting to the park on the boat. Tips for visiting the big parks. Be there when they open. Go LEFT and all the way to the biggest ride that is furthest from the entrance and then work your way back. Almost everyone goes right and stops at the first one or two biggest attractions. I stole these tips from The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, THE guide book to get before you go. You should put a link for that book in your 'store.'

We've stayed here more than 30times over the past 20years. Been all over the country and you will never find a better campground. Over the past few years prices have gotten out of hand tho. Depending on season the cost can be 60-70 $ difference. I would suggest if you are planning a week or more to call and reserve. The online reservations only show the calendar year but you can call and reserve up to 395 days. Our cost for a preffered site not premium which is what we normally get was $169 per night during the weekends. Check the season ranges because they change every year. Some days of the week have different rates. Its Disney you aren't going to save money and its just easier to accept that lol. No one knows how to separate you from your money like they do. Great place and as you can see we keep going back.
