Love how you use stories in the Bible in conjunction with your homesteading activities! God is good. Bless you all. Good luck on all the new birds!!!
Oh thank you for the update on Randy!!! Praise Jesus!!! ❤️❤️❤️
He will have continued prayers ❤️
Thank you for the update on Randy. It’s a nice to know that the power of our combined prayers is working. .. praise be to Yahweh!
The best video award goes to the fit farmer
Please don't burn poison ivy vine. The smoke will get into your lungs and probably be hospitalized.
BLESSINGS
Love guineas! Excellent for getting ticks & other bugs. One summer I watched a coyote come toward my yard, my 11 guineas rushed to form a circle around the coyote. They screamed at it & as I watched, they took turns rushing at the coyote, flapping wings & leaping into the air at it! It cowered & after several minutes ran for it's life!! Definitely farmyard guardians!! 👍 God bless!
Praise the Lord for the good report regarding your friend Randy. Selah a great lil goat keeper. I love how the entire family contributes to the homestead
Yea!! Praise Yehovah for healing mercies! Thanks Mike for the update.
Love the story of Shadrack, Mishack, Abendigo. God is always near, Amen.
Mike I love how you are not afraid to talk about God, Jesus or the Bible. I am so proud of you. You are an awesome role model.👍👋👋👋👍
Yessss!!! Me too!!
I love my guineas, they make me smile. I'm sure they will make you smile, too, Lacie.
Watching this video, I was remembering your first goats when you got them, how they looked and their shaky health condition. But look at them now! Healthy, gorgeous shiny coats, good constitution, and making healthy babies. Nicely done Stacie (Mike and Selah too of course haha). Your goats look absolutely great. I'm sure the mama's milk will be top quality.
Lacie
Hi y'all...I love your vlogs and learn so much. Praise God for Randy's improvement. I love how you bring in scripture as you work, you are a teacher. Love to all of you from San Diego. GOD is good all the time.
Amen amen!! Well said my Friend! ❤️
Lacey and Mike you too guys are too cute and funny.
Two lol
It’s so nice to see clean up going on…I live near Amish farms and I admire their pristine farms…everything is neat and clean. They feel their farms are a gift from God and is a dishonor to have them look junky and unclean….
I remember my mother in law saying her mother would wash windows and floors every week and keep a tidy house because her home was a gift and should be cared for with love as they did in Croatia….
I hate junk and weeds around, makes me feel lazy and uncaring……I guess it’s easy to ignore piles of items rather then take the time to clean and make the areas useful……
Down the road from us is a farm dump…..lots of trash, bottles, cans, old equipment just sitting out….unpainted and fixed buildings, and it comes down to pure laziness…..sad.
Love the CLEAN up THANK GOD RANDY is doing better GOD is GOOD ALL the time
Praise God for Randy’s Progress 🙌🙌🙌
Seeing them separated made me want to cry! 😢
Thank you for the video.
Guinea's are awesome, just be aware they can fly and will yell at you for leaving a shovel or something not in the usual place. Great mobile alarm system.
I am glad that you have been speaking so much about the Bible. Thank you, such a blessing.
Thankful your friend is better. Absolutely enjoyed the mentioning of scripture and God's mercy. Thank you for sharing your journey on the homestead.. God continue to bless and keep you and yours.
Selah's shirt had the name Durfee on her back. My Grandma's maiden name was Durfee. She was born 1902. Her mom was blind and was able to tell who we children belonged to as she felt our faces.
When my kids were small, we got 4 turkey poults from the local farm & home store. I got 4 hoping to get at least 2 to maturity, because everyone told me they were so hard to raise. I did everything wrong according to the experts and still, all 4 turkeys lived. lol One thing I really liked about them was I could turn them into the garden and they didn't destroy the plants, they just ate the bugs.
dice portz.......I read that ducks will do the same thing.....eat the bugs and not the plants. God Bless!
@@LLjean-qz7sb ducks will mow down a bed of lettuce in no time. We know from experience. lol
So glad Randy is good. Praying for all!
Aww...the bird conversation 😁.
I can't wait to see the new guineas❣ God bless you all. ✌🏼💜🙏🏼💪🏼🌱🌱🌱
So thankful for the update on Randy! I have been wondering how he is doing. Prayers are so important....no, so NECESSARY, for all of us. Love watching your videos and the Bible stories you incorporate in your everyday life.🙏❤
I have a pet Turkey, and 7 guineas...I LOVE them, they're all spoiled, and very entertaining!! They have made a tremendous difference in the ticks & fleas in my yard!!
Based on the angle of the camera, your yard is looking sooooo much better. You’ve done a lot of improvements… it’s looking really good. Bravo!
Love your videos. Godly centered programming is sorely needed in our world!! Thank you for your willingness to stand for Jesus!!
God is so good!! I am happy to hear your friend Randy is on the road to recovery! The property is looking great! Hard work goes a long way. Have a blessed weekend Dickson family!
Praise God for the hand of God on Randy!
Than you for the update, looking forward to the feathered additions 😊
Hey, good luck with the turkeys. We had them, done them, probably won’t do them again. We let them free range though, until they started going down the road. At that point their freedom ended, but they only had a couple weeks left until they went to freezer camp. We had six turkeys, ate one now five live in the freezer. We did loose quite a few of them as babies. They would follow us around the yard like puppies. It was a fun learning experience, glad we did it, but was glad when they weren’t here anymore. We aren’t brave enough to do guineas. Good luck with them. I’ll have fun watching you raise them. Love your channel.
Nice to see all the progress on getting things cleaned up before spring
The baby goat is growing, so fast, Cody is so cute, don't tell him that I said he was cute just tell him that I said that he looks good hahaha
Turkeys are SO SWEET!! You will really like them, I feel, since they are so personable and will follow you around.
Thank you for the update on Randy. I have been praying. ❤️
Oh my goodness! Yes! I want Guinea’s too! They help with snakes! I’ve wanted them for a long time too!
Guineas are smart, helpful on the farm for so many reasons, and great watch dogs. We have two pet guineas for our acre farm and we adore them. 🐦🏡🌱🐦 Sissy and Uncle Si are the best!!! Prayers for that fella ✝️🙏🏻 Lacey get ya some guineas friend!! Woo Hoo!!! You will love em!! Hey 👋 to you to Mike and all the kiddos! God bless!!
I would think a lot easier with no mosquitoes and ticks also.
Plus you got a day of sunshine, real encouragement.
I imagine also easier to clean for a future electric fence line.
I would think better than a 95 degree day.
Wonderful to hear Randy is doing better!
We added coral blue guineas last year to our homestead. They are also good at letting you know if something is out of the ordinary. They can be loud, but on a homestead animal noise if just part of the "music". We are trying a new chicken breed this year. We have bresse chicken eggs in the incubator right now. They are supposed to be a sustainable meat chicken. We shall see! We also have Bourbon Red turkeys, we love our turkeys!!! Thank you for sharing you journey and your lovely family! Blessings from Kentucky!
We bought Bresse chickens last year. Some of the pullets turned out to be roosters. The breeder sent us replacements, but we harvested the extra roosters. The meat is fabulous! Truly tasty and very tender. And that’s without really following the French feeding protocol. This year, we’ll incubate eggs to raise a flock of just meat birds. They are more flighty than other breeds, ie great foragers, so the meat flock will be in a tractor with a small coop. I’m shoring up my pen for the main flock (great eggs!) to keep them from eating my garden and pooping all over the driveway.
Praise Jesus Randy is okay!
Lacey I’m so jealous about the guinea fowl, I think they are so pretty. Their feathers look like they have jewels on them
So glad to hear Randy is doing much better!! God is so good! ☺️🤗
Y’all are doing great and getting that farm in tip top shape! 🌺🌺🌺 one thing I never realized in my over 50 years of obeying God, was that Shadrach Meshach and Abednego were so young when challenging decrees we’re given to them! That sure put that example into a totally different magnitude of a problem for those kids!! Imagine what the weight of that decision must have been like for them!! 🙈
Shaking my head on that one! Amazing example of obedience
It is definitely amazing seeing how young they were and how they stood up for the Lord.
We have a guinea pair, Gigi and Havoc are their names. They are awesome to have around, they make great guardians. But yes, noisy! Lacie neeeds some guinea fowl! 😁
Guineas are great ,if there is a snake around they will let you know. They can free range to eat bugs and they don't destroy your garden like chickens do. WE always ate there eggs also .This will be our first time for turkeys . Meat chickens 🐔 are ordered ,rabbits are doing great and a steer will be in the pasture!
First time with a steer? Also, cattle are really social so if you can try and let him have some kind of companions (goats perhaps if you can't handle more cattle?) to feel the comfort of a "herd."
@@h.s.6269 no not my first time . Originally from Texas raised with cattle my Mother's saying( if I have one on the hoof there will be one in my freezer) and she did lol !
Mike be careful of the canvas cover for your goats. The embers from the fire can blow over to the canvas and burn through it. I hope that doesn't happen. Burned through my coat and tennis shoes tending a wood branch fire. We have a lot of trees so we're always burning twigs up to large branches from the wind storms. Are those leeks you're giving the goats? Tilly sure likes that swiss chard. Nice job clearing where you did the tree clearing. Looks good. Looking at poultry! I love my guineas! I got four at TSC. They were all the lavender color which I was hoping for. I got one hen and three males picking them out from a bunch. Turkeys are great but really dumb. Delicious. So glad Randy survived! Terrible that he got so hurt but I'm so glad he'll recover. Thanks for giving us the update. This was fun to watch. Thanks for the video guys!
Very good point about the embers!
Lol I just had this conversation with my husband today. I want guineas also.
Praise the Lord for your friend. God bless you and your family. I can’t wait to see the guineas
Wow love stories how God is right there. Witnessed it myself many times. Keeping Randy in my prayers.🥰
We always use diesel due to the safety, it also doesn’t have the flash back like gas does. Yes, nobody telling you it’s against code! Love country living! Also what I try to do is use the timber that I need to cut down as boarders for my garden areas, it helps with the eco system in the garden. But there are times when you need to burn, and the ash is good for the garden and compost. Hugs and love from Texas!
Things are looking good! Looking forward to the Gennies!
I enjoyed this session of your cleaning up and preparing your homestead. I love raising my own meat birds but since covid I've slow down. But later in the year. I plan to start back.... I also love how your Daughter takes care of the goat....you and your wife do have beautiful children. God bless you guys....
Thank you for the update on Randy! I have been praying! Thank God he is improving! Keep the great video’s coming! ❤️🙏🏻
Oh, remember you could always use stumps for enrichment for goats pens too. You can saw them and make jungle gyms essentially and the goats and their kids will love it! It'll give them something to do and help the young ones build strength up as they get better with fine motor control.
An urban homesteader here on youtube has a stump pile in with their goat babies and another just in the yard since it's one of the goat'sfavorite spot. Check out Weed 'em and Reap (idk if spelling is different offhand, sorry)
I love the guineas they are funny to watch and great way to get rid of the ticks and chiggers. We lost our last one a couple years ago and I can’t believe the amount of ticks we have again! Definitely need to order them again
The baby goat is so cute. You really had a hot for going, but you got rid of a lot of junk . Way to go. 😺
Thank you for the update on Randy! Praise the Lord he's going to make a full recovery!!! That was quite the burn pile you had going! It feels like we are all going through some kind of fire right now.
I can not wait to see how raising the guineas goes. They are suppose to be so helpful with ticks and such.
You guys are so amazing. The kids are growing so fast(seemingly) . Prayers for Randy and family. Prayers for you and your family. May God continue to bless you all in every aspect of your lives. Much love.
Great tips for condensing animals for winter months. We did that partly, moving our ducks into a kennel next to the chicken runs. This year our goal is to start on a barn that would house all our animals in one spot during the winter months.
Lacey I want Guinea hens too, They are the security for the farm. 🐧
Hello Fit Farmer Homestead, it good seeing Mike operate the heavy equipment, and being able work on the task of getting those stumps out of his way. Hopefully there will be new and healthy goat kids on the farm soon. Friends thank you so much for sharing your trust and faith in the Lord. Looking forward to any and all increases on the farm Turkeys or what ever. Thanks so much for sharing. May the Lord continue to bless you 🙏 in all that you do.
Clip your Guineas wings. We learned the hard way. It got cool & they flew south. They also lived all over the farm. Little Houdini’s!🥴
Pelvic injuries are tough. Glad he will recover.
Glad to hear that Randy is doing so well.
Look forward to seeing which guinea varieties you get!
So glad that he's doing better.
Selah I just love seeing you take care of your goats 🥰
I enjoy your channel and always look forward to seeing your newest video pop up. You are inspirational and I love your positivity. God Bless.
Thank you so much!
Keep an eye out for which ones are making the most noise and just don't order THOSE again. Praying for Randy! and you guys too!
Someone gave me 2 guineas they said they didn’t like the noise. I love them even the noise.
I have been busy for the last 6 months and fell behind in my videos. Wow have your kids grown.
They sure have.
We just ordered 16 more dark brahmas hens and 2 roosters. Now you got me thinking about guineas also.
The property looks great! What a nice video♥️
I plan to add Kahki Campbell ducks and Quail. Also starting in beekeeping. Got two hives coming in April.
Yall did clean up that huge pile of stumps real good! Wow!! Looks so much better now! Lacy I like Guineas too a neighbour in SC always kept a few and they were never that loud...She always had much people traffic cuz of selling stuff and so the Guineas were sort of used to ppl and didnt sound the Alarm like forever long just a little. Think she had the purple and a few pearl whites. Turkeys is definate a dream of mine if I ever get a homestead-thinking either the Midget whites or Royal Palms be perfect for me cuz they dont get as huge as the others. Both are herritage breeds and breed on their own. Good luck with yall`s poultry this year!! God bless!
Mike and family I'm glad your all doing great. Looking forward to see all the new babies you get.
My friends raise and sell turkeys for Thanksgiving. It’s a good addition to their business. And they taste fabulous!
Will you be raising the Guineas as meat birds? They are pretty cool to look at and watch. Glad to hear Randy is on the mend and doing much better.
The furnace they were thrown into was a huge steel smelting furnace. Yes. They had steel back then. Famous Non-compliars.
Holy cow, I’ve never commented on a RUclips video but you mentioned Shadrach, meshack, and abednego and I couldn’t help it. I randomly read these names today in Daniel(I rarely read lately) while awaiting the church service and couldn’t quite remember the story but it stuck in my mind. I’m deployed to Europe and the actual message at church today was Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 17:5 trust saith the LORD; cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of the drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked, who can know it?
It absolutely blows my mind that you mentioned that(I’ve only occasionally watched your channel over the past few years and haven’t heard anything religious), and your burning stumps to make way for new growth. Wow
So glad you enjoyed it!! Hope you have had a great weekend.
I love my guineas. They are loud and will go visiting neighbors if they are a large flock. But they eat ticks that carry disease. We rarely see a tick near the house now. I need fresh chicken hens this year and I want to add turkeys. I have ducks, guineas and old chickens.
We had guineas for awhile, but they started eating on the produce in the garden, so we got rid of them.
My meat birds are coming the second week of February from Murray McMurray. 🙂
Thank You Mike for keeping us up to date on Randy. So glad to hear that he is going to be able to make a full recovery. We will keep him in our Prayers. That is one thing to keep in mind sense you and the Mrs. use some equipment too. Anything or any Type of Equipment that runs and uses Hydraulic Fluid to perform functions can be very Dangerous During Cold Winter months. The Fluid can get Condensation or better known as Contaminated with water witch can freeze and damage the Equipment or just cause to much pressure on command that can make it go real bad Watch for a discoloration of fluid of a white milky ring around or near the top of the Fluid Reservoir. Be safe God Bless.
Thank you!
Love your videos. Thank you ❤️
I hope that I get my different types of fowl shortly.
We have an order of Bielefelder chicks coming from McMurray this Spring . Can't wait - they are a beautiful breed .
Love seeing your homestead! We ordered 6 Bourbon Red turkeys, 3 Idaho Pasture Pigs, and 25 American Breese chickens for meat! Super excited as this will be our first full year homesteading! Thank you for sharing all you do. We really enjoy following your journey 😊
I've been wanting to start with rabbits and chickens this year. I only have just under an acre of property so...
🙏 for Randy
Love your homestead and godly character. Did you settle on a name for the baby goat? He is so fun and of course, ADORABLE!
Looking forward to hearing how the guineas turn out.
Fella I knew put goats onto raw land to clear brush one fall. Then in early spring he put pigs in to get the brushy roots for a couple of weeks before moving them on. Then he put into the area his turkeys. Afterward he raked it and he threw in some grain seeds. In the fall he finished the turkeys on the grain. That was our best tasting turkey ever! At 24 pounds before stuffing, we were able to feed 22 people with a bit to spare! Total cost. Purchase of grain for him. This was his third year of raising all his own animals and clearing his land.
Guineas are way to noisy. When I would work outside, I could not hear myself think. Thought I would let them out each day and they would go in the field and eat ticks. They never did. Came right where we were, made noise, and drove my dachshund nuts.
It’s time for me to learn a bit about geese keeping.
Excellent advice on winter animal husbandry.
those gorgeous leeks would make an awesome soup! but, feeding the babies is good, too.
That was Elephant garlic, which is closely related to leeks!
Thank you for sharing your faith!
Loud and lovely! We started w/16, if you hold them a lot in the first weeks, they’ll be more docile. I recommend you put their coop far from the house, they are really noisy but so worth it!
Guineas are neat to watch how they are like an army when they move across the yard. I would like to het a few goats this yr but idk if I'm ready for them
Our lil town won’t let us have chickens but I love them and would also lik turkeys and duck, maybe 7 guineas 🐣🐥🐔
Lacie, I love guinea fowl. The sound that the females make is 2 syllables and lovely... pur-trac - pur-trac - pur-trac. The male, not so nice it is a loud single syllable squawk. I run 1 male to about 4 females and have pretty good fertility on the eggs, for hatching. The meat is delicious and mostly dark. And, yes they are extremely good hunters, they do not tear holes in the garden like chickens, we have fewer flies all season. The eggs are my favorite next to peafowl eggs.
Mike, we have never regretted enjoying our own thanksgiving turkeys brined and smoked is our favorite, now for many a year. We have 1 heritage bronze tom and 3 black Spanish hens that produce enough poults that we always have plenty of turkey in the freezer for any occasion. Not just holidays. Potluck dinners at church are a great place to enjoy the extras.
Both keets and poults are touchy at first and need their temps steady and bedding dry. Although keets are not as dumb as poults, they are both a bit hard to get started but sturdy as adults. Enjoy!
I really enjoyed this video. Thanks, Nita
