Guys, about the rest/recovery part, I want to share something: I had a knee injury and had to distance myself from ballet for 1 month and was sooo annoyed by that and thought I would be left behind compared to the other dancers and blah blah blah... Let me tell you, when I came back... It took me 1-2 weeks to get my flexibility completely on point again, but when it comes to technique... I was doing SO GOOD. Like, even better than I used to be! I don't know what it is, but there's just something magical about resting, just... Just don't underestimate it, really.
Yes! Please make more videos like that! It's difficult to trust the process sometimes, it sometimes seems like you are never gonna go past a certain point.. do you have some insights on how progress works in ballet/ how to ensure you don't hit a point where you're at standstill?
It's always difficult to know whether you are hitting a standstill. I think much of it has to do with mindset, and being intentional. If you are aware of things you want to improve, it is difficult for them not to, if that makes any sense?
As a non-dancing clumsy clot, I would like to thank you for this video! It was very interesting! I love seeing what is behind the scenes of ballet because it helps me to appreciate it even more. To all the aspiring pro ballet dancers, dance students, rhythmic and artistic gymnasts, etc who watch Hannah: It is seriously incredible what you are able to do with your body. Reading through the comments, I see there are many young people who are insecure about their own abilities, which is perfectly normal. Please realize that dancing ballet, and doing any form of gymnastics at any level is something that most of the world cannot physically do. Practically everybody can be taught how to swim or to play football (soccer), but many people don't have the physical ability to do ballet or any of the gymnastics disciplines. Try to appreciate your body and the strengths that you have. Be honest about your weaknesses, and try to find a way to work on them. While you are admiring another person's skill level, somebody else in the class is envying you for something you have or something you do that you might not even be aware of. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Be kind to yourself. Be realistic in your expectations and goal setting. Often the most difficult thing is to be patient. And keep watching Hannah! And subscribe! Thanks for another great video! 🤩
I LOVE barre! I'm one of the weird ones. 😂 Probably because I wanted to dance my whole life and couldn't start until my 20's when I went to college. We didnt have a dance studio in my town when I grew up and parents couldn't afford the hour drive to get me to one. 😢 I enjoy ballet very much as an adult now though. ❤
Thanks! 🤩Would you ever consider filming a barre specifically focusing on port de bras and what the head should be doing? You looked lovely in class on world ballet day!
"port de bras" ! "bras" is the french word for "arm", you may have noticed that the words used in ballet are french words, starting with "ballet" !! (and like "barre", and "port" or première, seconde, ... , plié, pirouette, ... )
I am also a ballet dancer as well, and I am soo in love with your videos! Especially for me, a young ballet dancer at age ten, Your videos have powered me up!
Thank you so much for this! I'm a young dancer and I've been a little bit discouraged while trying to improve quickly... Such good tips! Thanks for all the things to think about!!🤩
I started ballet on a self learning experience since 9 years old till this year, like i cant wait for my first point shoes! Even tho, i used my point like school shoe to do it instead, i still trained myself with it today!
That was very helpful!🤩 I definitely want a part 2! The most helpful tip was the intentionally. My biggest struggle in class is a wondering mind, but I think setting intentions will really help with that. Thank you for this video🤗
Thank you for the incredibly practical advice - it's doable and realistic. I've come to some similar conclusions over the years, so your advice brought a lot of clarity.
Thank you for a very concise and information-packed video. You are inspiring. My main purpose in wanting to get some good quality, basic ballet training, has to do with how seemingly "fragile" or "delicate" trained dancers appear to be, yet how amazingly strong you ladies are. Never underestimate the power of a woman, or a dancer! Bravo to you, and keep up the good work. P.S. I loved the smiley face emoji.
Good tips, thanks! I wish I could go to more classes, but the best teachers at my studio only teach at night now. Going there at night keeps me out too late, and I need proper sleep for recovery.
Tysm for this video!! 🤩 I really appreciate this you have no clue!! I am hopefully getting my point shoes soon and I am trying to improve to get there!! ❤
Thank you Hannah!! Do you know of any professional ballerina who has a long torso? I find it really hard to make it work and the lines dont look the same
I’m I’m 10th grade and I started ballet last year Although I’m more advanced I want to get better I want to go on pointe even if it’s just for 1 recital I’m in ballet 3 and ballet 4 4/5 is where you usually get point shoes and obviously be in pre pointe But I do feel my studio is unfair when it comes to moving ppl up Because this girl with 0 ballet experience got out straight into ballet 4 and I’m kinda angry But I hope by next year I’ll be in 4 and pre pointe and by the year I’m gunna graduate I go en pointe
attend adult ballet and floor barre - it's a killer at the end of a long week, but I feel so great afterwards for the personal achievement, the feel good of the exercise, the cameraderie of my classmates - and the fact that each week I feel a little physically fitter and stronger! It's good exercise for the brain and focus - which wasn't easy at first as I'm a natural dreamer 😂 ps and I love to watch ballet RUclips videos that help my technique - so thank you for your generous video and wise words! x
What do you do to improve yourself? Ballet or anything else? Let me know 🙌🏻
Ballet and my art gcse coursework. Can’t wait for this video!😆
Cant wait for the video!!!
Consistency is the key fir me 🤗
I’d say just trying really hard and not pushing to much or trying to do everything perfectly but instead just give it what I have
Giving my all and leaning on the people I trust for support and guidance 🤩
I started learning Ballet at 47 years of age. Never let anyone tell you what you can or can't do in life!
how is. it going so far?

Thank you so much! I am still very much a work in progress port de bras wise, but I definitely can see what I can do! :)
I am also a ballet dancer as well, and I am soo in love with your videos! Especially for me, a young ballet dancer at age ten, Your videos have powered me up!
A big part of ballet is to respect its traditions and history. At this point you are a ballet student not a ballet dancer.
Thank you so much for this! I'm a young dancer and I've been a little bit discouraged while trying to improve quickly... Such good tips! Thanks for all the things to think about!!🤩

Being intentional is such a good point, for any endeavour!! Great video, thank you so much!!
Yay! Glad you enjoyed :)

I have a wondering mind too! I struggle with this a lot and I'm trying a few different ways to improve it!
Thank you for the incredibly practical advice - it's doable and realistic. I've come to some similar conclusions over the years, so your advice brought a lot of clarity.
That makes me so happy! Thank you :)
Thanks so much! Great advices especially for an adult beginner.
Yay! Glad you enjoyed!
