      @@joevdiscgolf3246 From a disc golfer perspective; I think the most relevant piece was the data points which display your largest acceleration. It's easy to see why slow is smooth and smooth is far; the greatest burst of speed comes 2/3 through the throw which is well passed the "pull"! Fun fact: while it may seem obvious that a horse would output one horsepower... ...It's actually closer to 15 HP (at maximum). Good stuff!

      @@nktaylo1 haha that horse joke was my cheesy joke to see if anyone would catch it. That’s cool that they put out 15 horsepower. Makes sense that they can put out more power when maxed out. I totally agree, the majority of the speed comes after the pull, and it’s interesting to see that the velocity increases very slowly during the pull, before the power pocket is opening up.

    Can you do a video showing your grip? I’ve gotten to a point where my form is pretty solid but now my grip could be holding me back. Should I always be using a fan type grip so the disc can snap out or is curling my back 3 fingers in also fine.

    • @temkef6124
      @temkef6124 2 года назад +2

      I throw 550 yes I am a random dude on the internet but still. Power grip gets the most spin and elongates the time it takes to gain speed the same way a rifle has higher bullet velocity than a pistol. Tuck pointer finger in to create a fulcrum. A 3 finger powergrip is usually taking out the pinky. Take out the pointer for a better more consistent release point. But snap is the timing of the hip movement with little to no arm muscle being used. Also, the snap sound is your fingers hitting the palm. The reason a 4 finger power grip works best is because your maximizing the time it takes for the disc to come out of your hand. Works the same way with a briefcase pull. Also, it gets more spin because there is more surface area on the rim. Grip is personal preference to an extent. If your going for distance 4 finger powergrip or stacked grip is best. But if your going for more control you can fan grip, but you lose spin but gain angle control. Drew Gibson uses a modified fan grip up to his wraiths were the pointer finger and pinky finger is tucked on the rim but the ring finger and the middle finger is fanned out. Eagle uses a modified fan grip anything 9 speed and lower where he tucks in the pinky and fans everything else out. But anything faster than a 9 speed he 4 finger powergrips. I think sometimes he fan grips his first run pd but thats the only time to my knowledge he fan grips anything higher than a 9.

    can you give a little lesson on how to throw a max distance line? and curious if you would get one of those techdisc's that shows spin, speed, launch angle, wobble, hyzer, and nose angle?

    Hey I think if you are able to keep your left foot on the ground until you release the disc you would be able to throw farther because you would push harder from the ground/get another leverage point off the ground through the throw to the throw release. I think I do the same thing though (at least sometimes! 😄) so I'll have to do a video of myself throwing and share it and see. I think I throw the exact same amount of power as you based on your distances on the field.

      Interesting to think about, thanks for the suggestion! It's possible that I'm a split second too early in that foot coming off the ground.

      No, look at Eagle in slow mo. Foot is off the ground almost the entire time. ruclips.net/video/F0PW2sVi2EQ/видео.html&ab_channel=TommiHonkonen

    Isn't 175 grams the weight of the disc, not the mass?

    • @joevdiscgolf3246
      @joevdiscgolf3246  Год назад

      It’s the mass, the weight would be measured in pounds or newtons. But weight is directly proportional to mass on earth.

      @@joevdiscgolf3246 ok thanks. It's just when you google, they say the weight of a disc golf is 175 grams, not the mass. Not sure if they misspeak since it makes a difference in our calculations. I am also trying to calculate the Force of a disc throw
