I saw a few in person by now. It has got so much road presence, you can spot it from 200 meters and even at night! I personally love it already, but im very open to new designs in general.
@@rg6982 me too I love it now , I have the current shape 5 series and if the new 5 coming out next month looked like this I’d be delighted but I think it’s going to be much more conservative. The 7 as much as I love it is too big for my liking but styling wise I love it
@@brendandevoy8178 I'm not sure if bmw should do what Mercedes doing at the moment. Every current Mercedes look exactly the same, there's no real difference between the S class and cheaper A class. It's good how BMW have different design languages
@@rg6982 I've driven it and can only agree. I've only had positive encounters, people were eager to look at it. Going 130 km/h on the Autobahn had the fuel economy gauge show roughly 6-6.5l/100km so even better than in the video.
Hate it or love it, this car has a presence and intimidates on the road! No S-Class or A8 has even the size of the new 7 series, while also being more boxy it looks even bigger and goes against the new trends of curvy car designs from other makes that are abbandoning the old traditional 3-box car design. Good job by BMW, and as usual, very pleasent to watch it reviewed by Thomas!
BMW's EXTERIOR designers are on acid.... We thought we had seen it all with Bangle's horrific designs, but noooooo....they found a way to make it even more repelling. The problem is, I think, that they sell an awful lot of Beamers in markets with buyers that have a taste for car designs that "old Europe" doesn't understand. So these cars don't look very German anymore.
I gotta admit when it first came out i didn't like the grill at all, however seeing a few 7-series in person one can tell it has far more presence than a Mercedes S-class and definitely fits the car overall. Im actually impressed by BMW, they put out a majestic looking car with a great interior.
@@afrostigmeister I agree that MB EQs are ugly as well, though not uglier than BMWs. But the thing is that whole BMW lineup is utterly dreadfully ugly and it's such a shame 'coz they are currently the best cars.

I'm not a big BMR fan, though loved some of the M3s. I like this big grill. It's bold, makes a statement and has some presence. I predict this will eventually have additional collector value.
This car is ugly like many recent BMW designs. BMW also keeps using the same materials inside for decades like the A pillar coating along with airbag plastic on the same spot for years, the ceiling material, the rear trunk materials, the bulky and same steering wheel for years, etc. The Mercedes's recent designs look better in my opinion as a lifetime BMW driver. I don't know if it is due to getting older, but I don't see a BMW model attracting me much recently. I'm leaning more towards some Mercedes models and Range Rover to be honest. BMW's recent designs have so many line elements everywhere which visually break the connection of different parts thus making the cars look ugly, moving more towards Honda looks. I hope they stop playing with their identify that much and risk becoming an average car producer.
The internet folks love to hate this car. I’ve seen a few here on the West Coast United States, and they look mean. In a good way. It really is a great looking vehicle. If I didn’t need the space (kids/travel) in my X5 M50i, I would buy this vehicle. Maybe in retirement? Fantastic review once again.

If you can recall how badly designed the E65 was it sold better than the w220 S class because that w220 had horrible build quality compared to the E65 despite being a better design
@@seansiew5629 No its just an ugly look :) Nothing futuristic about ugly. It will sell less and will lessen brand image if perceived ugly. Total production of w220 units = 484,683. Total production of E65 units = 343,073. You will have less problems with a w220. Especially engine + transmission. Only thing worse was the interior quality feel. And rust on the earlier ones.

The tall hood, the slab silhouette, and the chrome grille, all work fantastically together to give this car a presence second only to its stablemate, the Rolls-Royce. I am impressed with the new 7. This is the first time I can honestly say I would pick the 7 Series over the concurrent S-Class.
Hey M8 your reviews just keep getting better and better. Great detail as usual. Of all of these big cars the one I would pick for the Autobahn would certainly be the Bentley Flying Spur W12. I actually like the new 7 series. It is different to everything else so kudos to BMW for the courage to put it out there.
This is one polarizing car on the outside but it getting attention good or bad. The interior is very nice and has a good driving dynamic. Enjoyed the detail in your reviews as always.
Wouldn't it been smarter to have covered cameras instead of the covered washer nozzles? And even looking on the door opening procedure makes me impatient, wonder who would actually like it outside of the show room. I am clearly not the audience for the vehicle.
Lucid Sapphire strikes me as the luxury sedan benchmark until proven otherwise. It's a 1200 bhp version of the basic Lucid Air which most reviewers say makes the Mercedes EQS look like a fancy Kia.
Rear reminds me of the Alfa 159. Always subjective, I quite like the looks however.... We seem to be at a point where manufacturers are going with technology for technology's sake.... IMO. 👍
I loved the car from the moment it was unveiled. I knew what BMW was doing: IMPOSE. The car looks majestic face to face. It looks like a god. I love it.
Just look at the rear door aperture…ugh. Why the poor ergonomics? BMW is so lost. Too many plastics, gimmicks, overly wrought “modern” design, screens, and distractions.
This 7 Series is definitely my dream family car. However, it will not be my 1st vehicle. I'll save it for a 2nd vehicle of my choice because its too expensive.
Ich hab den 740d auch schon fahren dürfen und man merkt die Hinterradlenkung dann doch sehr. Lieber etwas weiter in die Kurve rein und dann voll einlenken :p Für ein solches Geschoss ist der Wagen aber extrem wendig und eventuell werd ich ihn mir nach meinem Umzug zulegen. Bleibt halt nur noch die Frage, ob der 750/760e verbrauchstechnisch sinnvoll ist.
Great review Sir Thomas. I love BMW and find their ethos to be for me. However, I wonder if you can switch off the ambient lighting all together, and is there an option to de-select those backseat screens on the doors. I don’t think those little screens are necessary.
on the outside it is very ugly to the point of thinking if they do it on purpose. And in terms of interior design, throwing two tablets in front of the driver is about the laziest thing you can think of.
Thank you Thomas. As always a super review. Thank goodness the ugly kidney grill comes in black. Not so sure about the square black. It's a big space with very little of interest. Lights, then a large blank space. Gadgets to the max. At Autobahn speed who wants to look away from the windshield to change the temperature via touch. Unsafe at the very least.
Seems like they’ve done a very good job with the 7 series. But the light show when driving at night is not good so good when driving on dark roads - any way to switch it off or darken it a ton?
The head lamps take inspiration from Japanese design cues. The rear, as well. Come to think of it, this feels like a car designed for the Chinese market.

Good idea to get rid of the short wheel base, but that leaves a hole for people who want a comfortable smaller car. 5 series might not be enough, and 8 series is too sporty
Last year, Tesla become the bestselling luxury brand in the USA. Designs like this will certainly help Tesla retain that position. I do love your reviews though!
There is only one Thomas from Autogefühl! Keep up with the good reviews, mate! As for the 7 Series, it looks great in that colour, but that front end 🤦♂ If only it didn't have that front... I like the look of the rest of the car. However, the rear could do with some styling enhancements. As for the interior, it would have to be one of the best ever on a car. The ambient lighting almost looks like crystal running through the dash. It would have to be one of the most beautiful features I've ever seen on a car, and it’s enough to make a grown man cry. The seats and materials look beautifully crafted, and the joint two-screen setup works well in this application. On the driving front, it’s good to hear that it drives like a BMW. And that diesel inline-six is a crackerjack! Overall, this has a sense of opulence that its predecessors were missing. It appears BMW has stepped up on the technology front, and its interior can "wow" you with its glitz and glamour like an S Class, but retain the trademark BMW quality that the Mercedes' of today can't match. I'd give it a 9.5/10.
Nope,w223 overall design is nowhere classified as “classy” as many people think,garbage sized head and taillights that doesn’t scream class and presence compared to the old generations, also the interior alone build quality of S class wise,just lose to the 7 tbh,the glass,leather and wood inserts of the 7 makes you feel like in a Rolls Royce,Rolls Royce>S class

The car is massive. Pure luxury in, and in direction to be out as well. Bmw badge is a distraction point to judge car’s outside looks more fairly. I think BMW’s idea is to present 7 series as a segment to be the RR in coming future.
I pray that the new upcoming M5 and M5 Comp doesn’t comes with this kind front exterior design. Current f90 M5 headlights looks mean and aggressive and I love everything about it, Please BMW don’t make the future M5’s headlight look like this 7 series. Please 🙏

It definitely has more presence than the S Class. I mean, the S Class is beautiful but is boring af. BMW did an amazing job.
This! The dual tone color also helps. This is far more interesting looking than the boring S-class and A8 series.

My BMW has ambient lighting and you can dim it with a rotary switch. I guess the new 7 series will do the same but via the touchscreens.

5 series might not be enough, and 8 series is too sporty
Last year, Tesla become the bestselling luxury brand in the USA.
Designs like this will certainly help Tesla retain that position.

There is only one Thomas from Autogefühl! Keep up with the good reviews, mate! As for the 7 Series, it looks great in that colour, but that front end 🤦♂ If only it didn't have that front... I like the look of the rest of the car. However, the rear could do with some styling enhancements. As for the interior, it would have to be one of the best ever on a car. The ambient lighting almost looks like crystal running through the dash. It would have to be one of the most beautiful features I've ever seen on a car, and it’s enough to make a grown man cry. The seats and materials look beautifully crafted, and the joint two-screen setup works well in this application. On the driving front, it’s good to hear that it drives like a BMW. And that diesel inline-six is a crackerjack! Overall, this has a sense of opulence that its predecessors were missing. It appears BMW has stepped up on the technology front, and its interior can "wow" you with its glitz and glamour like an S Class, but retain the trademark BMW quality that the Mercedes' of today can't match. I'd give it a 9.5/10.

Nope,w223 overall design is nowhere classified as “classy” as many people think,garbage sized head and taillights that doesn’t scream class and presence compared to the old generations, also the interior alone build quality of S class wise,just lose to the 7 tbh,the glass,leather and wood inserts of the 7 makes you feel like in a Rolls Royce,Rolls Royce>S class

Its so elegant and smooth, there is nothing more classy than that.. and that bmw looks ridiculous with thag grill and the headlights are unbelievable ugly.. i have no what was that desinget thinking but that ugly as fuck.. volvo has a wood inserts in a car but that doesn't make you compare it to Royce... and of course Royce is better than S-class bo doubt... but i stull prefer Maybach luxury over Royces "old people interior"

The car is massive. Pure luxury in, and in direction to be out as well. Bmw badge is a distraction point to judge car’s outside looks more fairly. I think BMW’s idea is to present 7 series as a segment to be the RR in coming future.
This car will break down after 3 years. It's how they are built. Bu a Lexus if you want luxury and long term reliability.

I pray that the new upcoming M5 and M5 Comp doesn’t comes with this kind front exterior design. Current f90 M5 headlights looks mean and aggressive and I love everything about it, Please BMW don’t make the future M5’s headlight look like this 7 series. Please 🙏
