He has a very slight Malay/Chinese accent to his English. That’s how you know he’s been in Malaysia for a very long time.

I would say the opposite. He has lost quite a lot on the aussie or stereotypical white english accent.

He most likely married a Malay wife, which made it mandatory for him to convert to Islam.... many foreigners converted for this reason....

Thank you Mr Nordin for your wisdom. Hearing his style of speech, makes me feels like he's been through a lot but because of his persistant, he is thriving. That is a good motivational speech right there. Because it motivate me too. Maybe something will go my way in 3 years, 5 years or in the future. As long as I persist and keep going, there well be a reward. I feel that when he said, "If you stop, you're dead. If you backwards, you're dead. So the way is forward." Thank you. I hope more foreigners ( especially from high-skilled and medium-skilled categories) can learn from his example in integrating into Malaysia while still keeping the necessary values from the origin country.
Kudos Nordin Abdullah and very classic name as well. Generally, Malaysians speak Manglish rapidly, like they would their own tongue. So, I told friends to speak slower Manglish to foreigners so that they are understood. There is nothing wrong with Manglish. According to my teacher, Mr John Hill, the purpose of a language is to be understood and as long as foreigners can understand you, that language works.
Dude has totally lost his OZ accent...
He's lived in Malaysia since he was a kid, so he probably never had an Aussie accent.

No matter wherever i had travelled, whenever i heard Lah and Lorh…i know im close to home- be it Malaysia or Singapore. ❤❤
He’s a rare westerner indeed. Most of them still speak with zero local accent despite having lived here for decades. Kudos to him.
His spouse is malay
With time, some people can grow into the place and culture they settle in, some don't. It is based on talent (natural linguist), affinity (soul and heart connection), and perception (can they accept the strange or alien language or culture and assimilate with them, or will they stay mentally separated from them as strangers with strong and exclusive individuality?). That's what I can observe so far, at least. And now we know at least three white men had settled down in Malaysia so far and married the local Malay women and they're quite well-known on RUclips.

He learned that by becoming Muslim. We have this word Hikmah. There's a hikmah behind everything that has happened/ things which didn't happen.
I think its not matter of changing religion to know that. Its in every person. U just need to acknowledge it within yourself.
@@sugunamaivilys1484 Well I guess we can say that, sometimes it will take something to happen for someone to realize that. In this case, in Nordin Abdullah's case, becoming a Muslim might be the driving motivator for it. Because Islam teaches those stuff too. Someone could enter a church and a priest might teach them about that, or other people might experience a life changing experience for them to see that there's good in everything that happened. To acknowledge is to learn about it, and to learn about it, is to experience it. 😊😁

As a Singaporean Malay,I prefer to retired in either of these 4 northern states like Perlis,Kedah,Terengganu & Kelantan.Renounce my citizenship,buy land.
You know, you can't buy land like that in Kelantan. Almost all land in Kelantan have their own owner. It's not the same as other state and other country. Kelantanese priorities land for their generation

I don't think anyone really like to compared to others, especially in Malaysia. But if still anyone comparing us with Singapore, I don't think Malaysians really care of it. Maybe Singapore good place for some of us looking for money, but not the place to live in.
And for the futures, Sabah and Sarawak will be Malaysia futures. The King made the great and significant remake for it. From edge of Tawau until starting point of Teluk Melano will be new economic futures. Even Bintulu already prepared with new and great industrial area and sea port.
Nowadays, house rental in Bintulu a bit high compared to KL The nextsurrounding
We compare ourselves with other countries to know where we stand and to improve as Malaysians. If we compare without doing anything. In my opinion, comparing without implementing any changes is a waste of time.

I agree with him. Salary should go up but so must productivity. It will take generations for some to ditch the 'entitlement' mentality but if Malaysians are successful in doing that, it will no doubt become the Tiger of ASEAN again.

I felt he didn't give too much insight on Malaysia in this video but he did sure drop some gems on life advice. At the end when he was talking about not getting a certain outcome or opportunity at 1st and then you eventually get it you might tell yourself I did not get it immediately because maybe I was not ready for it yet. Everything has its place and time.
Besides Singaporeans, I must admit even Indonesians seem to enjoy disputing with Malaysians over cultural heritage, especially batik, wayang kulit, rendang, songket as well as folk songs such as Rasa Sayang and Soleram (Suriram in Malaysia).
Because they have a strong claim and I’m Malaysian. Just let it go.

Manglish and singlish are just applied for conversation but not in writing.we still follow american or british English in writing as have to be in proper English.

Malaysians make english more easy,we don't use bombastic words,straight forward,we don't try hard to impress and can use 3 language mixed with english in 1 sentence. we used to be a great country and we moving towards getting back to become a great country again.
Nordin's parents are Lebanese who migrated to Australia.His parents are Maronite Catholic.

He is a foreigner that live here for 30 years, mingle with muslim here and married with malay women, got a few kids happily ever after.
Same goes to me a malay man who married arab women, she stay here more than 15 years alrrady. Look like angmoh but she speak malay with northern accent.

Singaporean here : AFAIK Manglish differs from different parts of malaysia, for example KL have their style , Penang have their own style albeit minute .
i know for example a very Malaysia style of manglish is the use of the word Simply " eh that feller SIMMMMMPLY WALK ONLY! NEVER WAIT FOR THE TRAFFIC LIGHT!"
Singaporeans never use this word that way.
