- What is it like to be a tourist in Malaysia? Foreign tourists talk about their experiences in Malaysia. How is it travelling in Malaysia in 2023? We filmed this episode in the heart of Kuala Lumpur in KLCC. We are looking for raw opinions. We don't make it better, we don't make it worse. How is it really to travel in Malaysia in 2023?

Haha thanks! I’ll keep smiling 😃
Malaysia has always been overrated🤭
0:53 "Crowded and little bit dirty than Europe" I believe this guy Never traveled abord, Even when I visited Berlin, There are many homeless people where their metro is not maintained there are many dirty places, even the MRT Malaysia is better
Go france and try to see "how clean" that country..proud to be western..😅
We are not including america so many homeless and drug people on the street..well..proud to be western..😅😅😅
Hahaha, some of their pavements are full of old chewing gums?
Some parts of Germany and Europe much dirtier than South East Asian countries, but some parts or overall are clean mostly if you go in the countrysides or villages.. That German tourist just arrived in KL and staying at Chinatown so we can’t blame him though as most part of Chinatown is dirty

@@islamforever2868no bro those things are getting boring and won’t make a cut with young travellers from other part of the world
as a malaysian (chinese), i did visit kedah and kelantan once.
but, I can't find any place that worth to be travel there?
Terengganu lmao are you for real?
The spain and english couple are so positive and vibing good energy. Loveeee ❤
Yes :) good vibes indeed 🏆
A bit unfortunate on the apartment situation. I think they stayed at Opus Residence (Near Maharajalela monorail), the apartment itself is nice but the surrounding is a bit ghetto where the shops lot just throw the rubbish everywhere
Thank you for this wonderful video. KLCC is such a lovely location for meeting tourists.
You’re most welcome Yasin 😁 it’s definitely a nice place to roam around. Thanks as always 🏆
@@Chai_TravelThank you too. It's very interesting to know what's on tourists mind when they are traveling. 😄
The last couple in this video, judging from their diction, I think they are British from the UK , I like their views on Malaysia. Generally, foreigners or expatriates who live longer in a particular country, have the better experience and well versed about the country they live in. Good job on this interview. 😄
I don't know why I repeat myself, I really felt honored working with the KLCC project that built KLCC and the Petronas Twin Towers. Who would have thought, a former turf club, a horse race course, had been transformed into a brand new place, with the park designed by a famous Brazilian artist, the KLCC area is such a wonderful place. The camera never lies, I see the beauty of KLCC, everytime I see a vlog or video from tourists or travellers. 😄
Another Malaysian series. I've been following you around throughout Southeast Asia and am pleased to see that many tourists have pleasure in their travels here. We are interested in learning more about how they perceive Asean and our country in particular. I wish you continued fulfilment in your work.
Thanks mate :) I'm glad you appreciate the work I've been showing. It's feels great to be able to to what I'm doing and I'm happy to see you're part of this journey. :)
They might have been smelling a nearby durian stall. 😅
Haha that could be :P
That’s our king of fruit n is our favourite 😂
@@Bonjour-vw7wb I know. I was just there last week eating it. I went to SS2 Durian House Stall 3x. Tried six varieties! Love it.
lol
Hahaha. Maybe 🎉
At 0:55 min, Andreas mentioned that KL is crowded. He will be shocked if he goes to Bangkok, Jakarta and Ho Chin Minh 😅
Haha yeah I think KL is quiet myself too :)
Well, Andreas is not wrong either. KL is a city with so many people. 🤣🤣
Imagine him in Tokyo
well it's his first trip to Asia. He has a lot more world he needs to see lol
@@jeevindranaidu2135 honestly good on him for getting out of his comfort zone but if he thinks Malaysia is different he’s in for a surprise if he visits places like India, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Laos or Cambodia.
I feels like Malaysia especially KL is a pretty easy to adapt to for any westerner (I’m from Australia), most people speak good English, most places take card, roads and crossings are same as most western countries and transport is both cheap and easily accessible
Again good questions to the tourists Chai. The thing I like about your videos is that they’re outdoors and you can’t help but watch life going on in the background. 🇲🇾 👍
Thanks a lot 😃 haha yes I can see why. There’s often a lot happening on the background 😜 thanks for saying hi!
Another good one mate. Glad you visited KL briefly in transit from Phnom Penh. Out of all the major cities of SE Asia it is the one I always remember my parents mentioning as their favourite to meet up with friends on their travels. One day I must visit there myself for the experience 🤩
Cheers Steven. It's always nice to be in KL. Every time i'm going I find myself loving it even more than the previous visit :D It's quite, and the air is clean. Yet it is a busy city with a lot to explore. :)
Already been to every well known asean country but I still preferred malaysia. I see many people saying singpore is way better and they are exactly correct but its not that much different than malaysia. If u are a big money spender and like to pay few more extra dollar for a little bit improvement to feel more comfortable then go to singapore, simple as that 😂
I don't want to be racist or calling them racist but I went to singapore with my african american friend (hes black if some people dont know what I mean) once and there is this group of chinese singaporean teen came to my friend and rubbing his skin saying its "dirty" and it won't go off 💀 dude what is wrong with them? Is this how they treat dark skin people? My friend just laughed it off but I know deep down inside he aint smiling. Compare to Malaysia, everyone of all age there treat him 100x times better. Who cares if that country belong in the third world country. What makes it better is the community and people. Also I wont lie malaysian accent and fluency of speaking english is on the top 🤣 easier to understand than other asean countries. No wonder Musk chose them over indoenesia 😅
i feel really bad for your friend..
that is really not tolerable..
skin colour does not define your value (bilal bin rabah is one example).
Great video Chai, Heading to KL for the first time today!
I'm happy to hear that! Have a beautiful time :)
Nice one :) those towers are really impressive.
I think so too😍 I really like the color that comes of the metal when the sun shines on it :) thanks champ 🏆😁
@@Chai_Travelhe Petronas Twin Towers are also beautiful at night, brightly illuminated, my favorite icon and landmark in KL. 😄
❤I love this video. I like Malaysian
I'm glad you like it 🏆 Me too :D
I just want to thank the 2 spanish ladies. Their life advice at 4:42 turned my life around. I was in a dark, depressed place, but after their advice my life turned 180 and now im happy and optimistic. Amazing life advice
Welcome back Chai. You're struting your stuff again. Hope you'll have a longer stay this time round!😂👌
Thanks Nick :D Sorry, It's only for a quick visit again
Im a Malaysian. My hometown is KL. Huge respect to the European couple at the end of this video. Very good points & advice for tourists visiting Malaysia. They also advised the world to come visit Malaysia. So nice.
Love the last one. Very rational thoughts from the couple. Peace and love from us Malaysian
Good advice from the couple.
Thank you for their downsides comments.. we need to keep up and improved the services and facilities.
Dude, juz want to say that i really enjoyed your vlog.
Thanks for saying that 🏆 I’m glad you enjoyed it! Have a good day
The road is a little chaotic. If you’ve been to India, you will then know what a chaos is.
Haha, fair enough. I do have to say that some people drive mad in KL though 😅
@@Chai_TravelHaha because our traffic law is beyond stupid, anyone can kill everyone on the road and it's just considered as a traffic violation instead of murder!
Avoid peak hours during weekdays 8am to 9am n 4.30pm to 6pm. Also avoid travelling by bus or train during festive season.
hahahaha..good one sir..
Yess....Indian traffic are more happening with horns...😂😂😂
I think tourists also need to be realistic. If you were to stay in a budget area and in the old, crowded part of the city, of course it wouldn't be as clean, as spacious and have the 'smell' as some of the tourists said. Europe is also the same; some parts are okay, and some parts are not. The not-so-good areas in Europe perpetually smell as well, of piss and such. Also, KL is more than just Chinatown!
I fully agree with you :)
Welcome back to the City sir. Glad that to see you enjoyed your time here. Great video.
Thanks! 😃 I’m glad you enjoy me being back 🤗
At least on a personal basis, Malaysians are cleaner than Europeans. We wash our butts everytime we visit the toilet and not just wipe them with tissue paper.
When I lived 4 years in the UK, me and other Malaysians there bathe regularly irrespective of the seasons. In winter, in the crowded tube we were also suffocated by the smell of cologne used to disguise the body odours 😅
Hahahaha, you made some fair points there 😂😂
@@Chai_Travel😅😅😅
Chinatown have alot of Bangladesh foreigners workers. Cheap labour. Hence the body odour.
Yeah, Malaysian bathe a lot. It is a must, a daily routine.
On a country basis Malaysia is very dirty, full of rubbish on the streets
Today Malaysia weather is 27° not too hot 🥳🥳🥳
Haha it’s a nice day 😍
Good 👍 job of sharing your great videos with us . keep it up,guy n take care peace ✌️
Thanks 😁
This is why I love these questions about Malaysia. Having been to Malaysia 6 times, Thailand 4 times, Singapore 3 times and Indonesia 3 times, Malaysia is always my top pick for SE Asia being from England myself. The English couple were spot on about immigration issues and getting a good agent. KL is my favourite city visited even though I loved Bangkok, Singapore and Jakarta. I am going to Malaysia and Indonesia this summer for 3 weeks myself.
I’m glad you’re enjoying some of my videos 😊 thanks for watching and commenting 🏆

My pleasure! ❤️ thank you for watching sharing and commenting 🤗🏆
TQ VERY MUCH CHAI. AWESOME❤
Welcome 😊❤️
It would be nice for tourists to talk with locals more.. Besides the usual touristy stuff. If they have the time that is.
Why so they can be asked the same questions of "where you from? do you like Malaysia? Are you married? Have you eaten durian? When are you going back?"
No tourist wants this and it comes across as nosy
Two things stuck out very nice in your talk with the Spanish girls actually : )
Haha, I put all this work in and the only thing you see is that?! 😜 Just joking. Thanks for watching Rick
@@Chai_Travel I'll be sure to be wearing my best cologne if I see her.
Good stuff man
Thanks
love your videos!!!
Thank you 🙏
I agree that if Malaysian authorities were to be more efficient in maintaining cleanliness... it would definitively change the perception of the country.
Not only the authority, all Malaysians should care about cleanliness.
I as malaysian, i actually a lot more interested to hear about criticism than fake reviews
I know how bad our country is, its dirty and lots of things to develop
Thank you, need more of this, i want to improve myself as a Malaysian
Ey thanks but I don’t think your country is dirty. I think it’s beautiful and I’m sure every country has things to improve:) soon we’re back in Malaysia again 🤗

Good stuff, like the Spanish babes
To know Malaysia is to love Malaysia

Correction : muslims do not pray in the bathroom
She meant to say close to the bathrooms I believe 🙏🏼
Many shopping centre have a small praying rooms near the toilets.
The smelling building would be the Regalia residences. Popular with tourists but They have to drag the rubbish bins through the corridors to empty them
last guy said about immigration totally right, some people applying visa or passport been working hard to prepared all required document hoping that when they submit all the papers to the officer and after 10 minutes its done..its not 😅..what more painful is that application always take few days to process.. typically malaysian goverment style.. although many improvement from the immigration system but the delay is a must 😅..because that is the culture here in this country..at least in the public servant sector
but bruh. You might need to watch another RUclipsr that doing contents regarding how expatriates that have been staying in Malaysia/sgpore. Those expats were saying that back in their countries, the immigration are far more worst than Malaysia in terms of documentation. Plus, their technologies use are still far behind our country, they are still using fax which is a must and compulsory😅. So, to tell that Malaysia is bad in terms of delay, documentation process or whatnot are not as bad as you or people think.
@MLan-tj5qb yeah. japan for example are still using mostly paper documents.
@@MLan-tj5qb Compare to Singapore, Malaysian government departments are indeed very bureaucratic & inefficient, regardless of they being digital or using paper documentation.
@@pkwanchua you are comparing Malaysia with Singapore knowing that Singapore are way leading in every aspect compared to Malaysia. I was comparing Malaysia with the western including european countries that so called 1st world countries.
Plus, if you refer to the comment above, a commentor also commenting that even in Japan, they were still using fax by why which it still smooth and on time and punctual compare to malaysia😅.
bro. our parking saman system is great! they can reach your car and saman u within 5 minutes!
8:29 that's very true and really appreciate that
Yeah, I agree, hotel smells. Offensive smell from cigarettes. Stale and dampness smell from fungus growth. Malaysian love smoking in air-conditioning room, it is a luxury to do so.
I fully support our ex-Health Minister(KJ) on the Generation Endgame for tabacco. The problem is that the majority of politicians are heavy smokers and their voters are also heavy smokers. Malaysia is one of the top country in smoking and vaping.
Next time ask for a non-smoking room.
We Malaysian pray alot..😂😂😂❤
The fact that I felt so excited to visit Malaysia but irl I'm a KL person myself 😭
haaaaaaa
I like to visit places like Eiffel tower and some European countries

kadang kadang yang menyepah, meniaga kat area kl tu pun kebanyakkan bukan local malaysian pun, mostly orang luar yang meniaga. selalu je on weekend merayap kl then tahu lah. yang meminta sedekah pun org mana, tak ramai lah malaysian homeless, selalunya nampak pun orang luar😅 tapi ada je malaysian gitu. so mana mana country pun sama jelah😅 apapun tq for being honest!

I was in that exact spot a few days ago. 😊
No way!? Man, we just missed each other :D
I think those two spanish girls, smelling DURIAN!!! I DID SMELL DURIA TOO WHILE WE RENT A HOTEL CALLED ANGSANA ITS THE 4 STARS OR 3 STARS HOTEL,VERY GOOD NICE CLEAN HOTEL BUT THE SMELL OF DURIANS CAME WHEN WE OPEN THE WINDOW,I THINK FORM THE DURIAN'S PEELS OR SKINS!!!
Durians are not allowed in Hotels. Most people follow the rule, Unless, they smuggled in. It is too easy to catch the smugglers, the smell will expose the culprits location. The housekeeper could easily find those durian seeds in the dustbin. I don't think it is the smell of durians, must be something else. I am sure it is cigarette.
Malaysia has a lot to offer outside of KL, check out Penang and Georgetown for a different flavor
🤩 good one! We love Penang
About some crazy driver in Malaysia mentioned by the English couple, it's true.
Most Malaysian are soft spoken, gentle, friendly etc.,but whenever we are behind the steering wheel,oh my god there are some of us will become completely different in handling their vehicle and turn out to be 👿😅😅
Haha that's so true. They totally change behind the wheel! :P
Because we want to be Michele Schumacher 😂
Like me when late to pickup my kids at school...you will see I turn like I'm in Sepang circuit😂😂😂
Singaporean drivers are way crazier lol If our country have super long roads like the US, probably Malaysian will learn to chill lol

I'll keep on roaming the streets :)
You are welcome in Malaysia. But not sure if we are welcome in Spain.
☮️ I hope you are ❤️
Our work visa is so difficult, something the gov. Should look into thoroughly
not for bureaucratic reasons but for preventing foreigners from take an advantage not to leaving when their visas or work permits expire..in addition to that also to prevent the entry of unwanted people into Malaysia..every country has its own problems
The British couple has very wise advise

are you sure some part in the europe are much more dirtier such as paris mostly the underground
Interesting!
Kind of a "different" approach here:
A tourist filming selfies, talking to and filming other tourists...
Okey, I guess town itself here not so much to see, actually kind of boring: hot and damp, just some towers never near the highest anymore.

I notice you only interview western tourists but rarely asian tourists
Yeah, I do approach any race though. But mainly western tourists
I'm Asian American and I love Malaysia. KL is a very clean city compared to even European cities. If you live in Chinatown and you take a bus of course you will see some parts which are not so clean For example you can drive in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, Brussels The capital of the EU, and so on and you can find parts which are actually like ghettos and not clean. So in one day please don't generalize and say that it is not as clean as Europe. One hopes said you enjoy your stay there and learn something
