I have had an RA01 for close to 20 years along with an Rotel RTC940AX tuner and Rotel RCD855 CD player going through custom made silver speaker cables through two pair of Paradigm speakers. When I listen to my music, the whole neighbourhood listens to my music.

Just picked up an RA01 mint in box for £50 , can’t argue with value like that. Your video gave me the confidence it was a worthwhile pickup. I’ve got my eye on a matching RCD-02 as well around the same price.

Superb stuff, mate. To be honest, it's not that surprising that it edged out the Marantz because I think back in its day, the Rotel was a £350ish quid amp which is probably equivalent to about £700 today.
I am not surprised that the Japanese made Rotel with better components and larger chassis ,has a superior sound, compared to the V3 However, . I was shocked how well it sounded up against the Marantz I will be excited to see what kind of quality CD player you will be able to get for £30.00.

Yes the Rotel is very good, I hawe myself a Rotel RA-12 and its plays very clen.

Don't get wrong rotel ra 01 amp is a super amp. I did had ra 02 but you wouldn't miss much as a ra 02 only included remote. My personal amp but I did upgrade Cyrus DAC 8.2 amp. My preference rotel for me then marantz that personal taste.. .........

Now try to score an ADCOM GFA 555 MK2 and 545 MK2 power amp by Nelson Pass in mint condition , My GFA 555 MK2 I've found from the seller new never opened box which is Rare.
I second that motion ! I saw a white faced one a while back on ebay brand new - looked pretty sweet from the front but the chassis was black so I don't know how I feel about that lol . I'm still using my GFA 555 Mk 1 that I bought brand new in 1987 along with a NAD 1700 preamp/tuner that I bought at the same time . Can't say enough good things about them .
TBH they are both sounds great and very close in sound.
Marantz is more bassy, Rotel is more even in frequency. I vote for Rotel.
I got a pair of TDL Studio 1M for £40 from the marketplace.
I personally prefer the Rotel

The Wharfedales!, had the 230 floorstanders,, awesome speakers, very underrated.. Have a Pioneer SA520 (1980) brilliant amp... Just re acquired a pair of Focal Chorus 706 speakers ohhh, how I missed these, been round the block with so many brands last few years and always regretting selling my focal, knew as soon as I hooked up the new ones why...

Just a note, I've seen very few of the matching Rotel cd players, and what I've seen are going for more than the amps 😮
Got the tuner last year for about £22,bargain, but not any since, and I'm never off Ebay. The RA 02 I'm after is basically the same as your 01 but with a remote and some lights. Cheers boyo.

Marantz sounds very refined, but also too "polite". Rotel is very cohesive and musical, with better bass and dynamics.
Just goes to show that quality older hifi can be brilliant. Oh and does your wife know you like a fatter knob! Lol

How about comparing the Rotel whit your Pioneer sa740?
I did compare them off video, the Rotel was better in the mids and highs.
That seems right, that Rotel brand sound signature is more focused on clarity, but that Pionner has to have some really special low ends
Probably the Pionner is better for some Rock or Jazz cousy sound, and Rotel for big classic orchestras
Keep Rotel and sell other two. Dont look how much you paid for marantz and how cheap you got rotel. Rotel is better amp ! This rotel is better than ra 02 because mechanic input selector switch try to connect cd to tape in and you get shorter signal path this is only for rotel ra 01.
