@@martinsodyssey I really enjoyed your filming techniques in this one. Having you commenting on yourself was funny, also the sound effects for the pup made me laugh. I liked that you used original footage and cut in with the contemporary opinions of those being interviewed at that time. It did have the feel of a documentary, like you said, though I didn't expect the left turn onto spooky topics. I love a good ghost story (I did a few ghost hunts once upon a time), and who doesn't love a true crime mystery? But UFO's... that's a creepy topic that makes me uncomfortable just because it's completely out of our/my control. I've seen a glowing ball of light moving at about 30mph above the treeline on a path I walk in the evening. I have no idea what it was. I thought it was the moon at first. I followed it as far as I could before it disappeared from sight. It is still a mystery to me.
I think the guy could have had a PTSD attack; I've seen those happen to vets, and to them it's very real. It could also have been the crime syndicate hiding loot, like you described. I thought the male (g)rape theory was compelling, but who would want to go to the papers and tell that cover story over and over again? So I don't think that's what happened. I suppose it's possible he did see something, but .... I'm skeptical.
Great content, Martin!! I'll support that all day long! Also, you are an excellent artist. I'd be happy if you featured more of your work as a back drop to your videos.

Me talking to me was my learning a new skill, I try to do that at least once in every video, glad you liked it, i think I even made myself laugh at that 😆 The thing I notice most is the more of these dark places I go, I realise they all have a creepy vibe, but can’t help wonder if it’s just because I know the story before hand. There was a couple of weird moments that I cut (or didn’t have on film) because they were more strange for me and less interesting for a viewer, I left the “white thing” in the bushes in and played it off as the Alice in wonderland white rabbit-which is a play on imagination in itself so symbolised the experience, but I’ll be honest, I’ve absolutely no idea what it was, looked more like the size of a deers head, and in my mind could easily have been ET and then I passed a guy with a white hoodie 5 mins later and couldn’t help if he’d been in the woods watching me… was creepy but my footage didn’t merit playing it out longer. I also saw something at the corner of my eye at the UFO site that felt weird and immediately disappeared… as did Frida. Who then appeared from nowhere behind me even though I was turning, so don’t know how she got there... Was almost like she was beamed up and down 😂 but the mind is a powerful weapon, it can play tricks on you for sure. So I always have my doubts on single eye witnesses, even my own. Like you, I’ve seen stuff in the sky over the years, much of which I couldn’t explain, but it doesn’t mean it’s from another planet. I do believe in life beyond Earth but I’m not so sure it’s advanced enough to get here, or would want to get here even if it could. If life wasn’t full of mysteries what would be the point, a point made in the hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy actually. I’ll try sneak in a painting or too but not sure I’ll do two much sitting interview style content but you never know, I don’t know what location or topic is next yet…

@@martinsodyssey Yes, we can creep ourselves out with our imagination, especially when we know too much lore, legend and history. The best test is when you're somewhere you don't know about, get that vibe, and then learn later of a dark history. After awhile you get to trust your gut on the vibes you pick up. Don't let my curiosity get in the way of your creativity. This isn't the Martin's Art show channel after all. Can't wait for the next journey!

I remember this occurrence. I lived about 2 mies from Dechmont at the time..I was 7 years old and as u can imagine it was a hot topic. Robert Taylor never changed a sentence of his story, right up untill the day he passed away. If I remember correctly they tested the area and it lit up a giger counter, with strange marks on the ground. He was a very well respected member of the village and if he made it up, he opened himself up to massive ridicule. This was a nostalgic walk of remembrance for me. Great video.
    P s It's spelt Dechmont , but is pronounced Deck-mont. Typically Scottish 😂
(I'm not trying to be smart ass)
Edit....I think the Tank theory is ridiculous. How would they get the tank into Dechmont Woods? On all sides surrounding Dechmont are roads and houses , there's a motorway very close. I think, outside being helicoptered into situ there's no plausible way a tank would be able to drive unnoticed to be hidden in the 1st place. It would be heard approaching 10 minutes away. Bangour hospital's psychiatric units would certainly have known if one of their "guests" was out for a night on the town. There were some seriously mentally ill people being housed there. Dangerous men and women. They were not allowed to come and go at will. I don't know what happened that night but I'm certain it didn't have anything to do with a tank or escaped asylum patient?
    RIP Robert Taylor.

    • @martinsodyssey
      @martinsodyssey  Месяц назад +1

Thanks for the comment! I don’t think the tank theory is any more ridiculous than the “truth”, Robert Taylor’s Truth that is. With the right incentive and planning, anything can be moved through the night. Far more complex things are achieved every single day. There are tanks belonging to civilians all over the world. If a spaceship can land there, so can a tank, why else would there be tank tracks in a field operated by a former tank driver!? I actually think moving stolen war memorabilia for a private collection is one of the most plausible explanations.
In respect to an escaped mental patient, many of these psychiatric wards are quite open with large grounds to wander, leaving/escaping is certainly not beyond the realms of possibility. People escape prisons and situations… and of course people make mistakes all the time, maybe a hospital employee made a mistake allowing a patient to get out and rather than admit it and risk losing their job they kept quiet and the patient wandered the nearby grounds, which happens to be right next to the incident. Who knows…
I find it interesting and exploring theories given the circumstantial evidence and hearsay available opened up many avenues of investigation, let’s face it the truth lacks concrete evidence but the story only got traction because of Robert Taylor’s standing in the community.
As I said at the end, let’s give the man the benefit of the doubt as we will very likely never know what actually happened that day but it doesn’t stop us humans from being inquisitive!

@@martinsodyssey I read ur reply enthusiastically. U make good points but almost any occurrence, especially one based on a sole description can be explained away, in one manner or another. At that point in time, Livingston was being developed rapidly. Many young trees were were being planted on Dechmont hill, as we're as draining trenches and fire gaps to prevent it's spread, etc. Perhaps a small excavator made these tank marks. I'm almost certain there was radioactivity in the ground marked by tracks and circular indentations in the ground. There were no tracks in or out of the particular area with tracks, only the ones within. Everything u stated is entirely plausible but something in me can't dismiss this experience fully. Thanks for ur reply, it's nice to debate a topic without someone having a sense of mockery or cynicism. I jst know that something occured that night. Something that was obviously vastly different from the majority of other sightings or abductions. (With his regards to his descriptions. Unique. Only Robert really knew and that train has long departed into silence.
It has all now been relegated to folklore.

I quite agree about a good debate, and as u mentioned, even changing ur opinion through discussion and learning something new pertaining to a certain subject. I think conversation and debate is one of the ways we grow as people. I've noticed it a bit of a dying art, (somewhat like letter writing?) The young generation often see a difference of opinion as being a reason to get mob handed and violent. No need for it at all. Thanks again for sharing ur content.

I’ve seen a few things over the years in the sky in the shadows and in the night that I can’t explain and I’m fascinated by difficult to explain ancient history.
I’d call myself an open minded cynic - I need logic to explain something and make me belief but until I do, my brain likes to run through the possibilities no matter how wild. There’s aliens out there somewhere I’m sure but have they made it to Scotland? Maybe!!!

The key thing is the forensic evidence. The Forensic Scientist decided that the rips in the trouser were not from being caught on a tree or fence. This was why the police took it seriously. There have been various explanations put forward, but none fot exactly what happened.

Shame the trousers weren’t locked away until such time DNA testing and forensic science improved to look at them sufficiently, they went on tour and were touched by absolutely everyone. Seems like a major oversight with a piece of evidence. It will forever be an odd case.

I thought this was a very open minded and interesting video which puts forward a few more plausible explanations of a down to earth nature. However my favourite explanation is that of mistaken identity whereby Robert Taylor experienced a mini stroke whilst in the vicinity of a nearby dome shaped building that up until a couple of years ago existed in Dechmont woods and was used to store fresh water. I made a short video abut it here:- ruclips.net/video/hgtWwLiUTSc/видео.htmlsi=gbsCAcsRVaqN26cP

It's only a hundred yards or so away, but the biggest problem is its on the otgerside of the motorway. I believe the location was incorrectly identified when Robert Taylor was sent to bsngour hospital for a check up while his boss went to investigate. The mini stroke I believe he suffered affected his recollection of the location. The mini stroke hypotheseis also explains his symptoms such as inability to walk or speak
