Yes, but you can put the medication in the sump so it's evenly distributed to every tank. It's also a great way to prevent an outbreak that could potentially destroy the entire inventory

I love DIY setups like this! It may have cost a lot for a regular hobbyist, but the beauty of systems like this is that they are completely modular. They can be made to fit any space, at any scale. You did it for 300 tanks but the same setup could be used just as easily for 30 tanks, or even 3 tanks, bringing that cost way down if it were just a hobbyist with a handful of tanks. Great job!

Your Bettas are amazing. Congratulations. Feeding must be a meticulous task. You can drop a tidal 110 on the sump or 900pro in for water polishing.

WOW! This is a huge, enormous, incredible and efficient betta system! I'm blown away that Lisa will have something like this that she can care for by herself. You guys did an amazing job! I would say that one floater plant in each betta cube would really add to their quality of life. But I know that is a lot of plants. It is beautiful. The rich mahogany shelves really make it look so beautiful.

I have a question: do the 296 bettas share water?, I mean, water recirculates or do they get new water every time?… if it recirculates, what happens when a fish gets sick?

Question about the system. If there's no filtration going on, if one fish gets sick wouldn't that spread to all others fairly quickly?
It doesn't seem like they are recycling the water back into the tanks. Seems like they are draining it all out together but then topping off with dechlorinated tap water.
I can appreciate the "it holds a lot of fish" and it relatively isn't taking up a ton of the room. it makes things easy because it's a flow through design.
My biggest concern is what on earth does QT look like for this? one fish comes in with fin rot and that can spread given what type of gram negative bacteria shows up. As someone who might get a Betta from you, that's the question I have seeing the setup.
They don't receive shipments of bettas. Lisa drives to the supplier and handpicks all their bettas from a source that they trust.

My fish room consists of 6, fairly large for a hobbiest, tanks and I struggle mightily with keeping the algae at bay. How do you and/or Lisa cope with cleaning 296 glass boxes? Does the fact that the walls and inserts are black help? Perhaps the lighting? Or do you just get in there on a regular basis and "clean those windows. They got filth muck on them?"

Im looking for a certain color Betta (purple and gold) do you ever get any Bettas close to these colors? Don’t have to be exact. I know im crazy🙃

I’m sure you have gotten this suggestion before but you should try putting live cams on each section for prospective customers to view potential purchases. Since you have each of them numbered it would easy for someone to pick out their exact fish. I assume you take pictures of each fish for sale and with a live stream you wouldn’t have to any longer. Just a thought! Great work!

I feel like it's not hard to put in filter media into the sump? Why not have a place for beneficial bacteria?
I thought exactly that, just dump a couple of buckets of bioballs in there and call it done. I'd personally have a filter sock as well.
Looks amazing, it's really impressive! I love how open you've been about the whole process. Hopefully you've already considered this, but do you have a few water sensors along your floor & walls? I don't think I heard you mention it in these videos. If anything clogs (cat fur) and the drip line overflows some tanks and keeps running, or if the pump stops working and the sump overflows? The sensors are battery operated and super cheap from that company we won't mention. Or maybe there isn't enough much extra water in the whole system where it isn't even necessary. Still, anytime I see moving water I know what kind of damage it can cause.
The sump won't over flow. The tanks don't have much if any water above the over over flow. If one tank over flow gets clogged he said it takes a hour or two to fill a tank so half a gallon flow rate for one tank. That's only 12 gallons of they don't go in for a full 24 hours. Now if a pvc end blows you'd drain your sump on the ground which looks like 29 gallon tanks. So approx 20 gallons to 30 gallons of water. They put concrete in so realistically even worst case 30 gallons of water on concrete is not to big of an issue.

Great idea to implement recirculation👍 This helps one as much as as the invention of the washing machine🤡 And it opens a whole range of new options: a UV-C at the return will also be usefull, if there is not already one. There is a Sera canister filter with UV-C, and many others including heaters🦊 On the return you could also have a cooler for aquariums🌊 And somehow you could even fit a roller filter🐠

Your betta room and system is brilliant, and just beautiful. I love the removable cards and the idea to exercise the fish. I can only offer two things from living and working in older structures most of my life. Be constantly mindful and inspect all things electrical, and two, have several fire extinguishers strategically placed so you always have one close. Great video and great job on the best betta system, o yeah, in the world!
nice setup those outside corner miters prolly bug you a ton. if they do cut them with a clean angle plus reduces chance of walking into the sharp corner

Please do an educational rant about what "the devil" is doing to the industry. I've seen some clips on your other videos explaining it. I had previously never considered the affect on the hobby, but you opened my eyes.
I know it makes sense for some people, especially if there isn't a LFS nearby. We are fortunate to have multiple LFS nearby, and now we take all business possible to them. Even if it costs a few more dollars sometimes.
It's worth it to us to keep local hobbyists in business. Plus it's nice building a rapport and even friendships with LFS owners. Thanks John and Lisa!

Definitely the biggest on youtube(at least on English youtube, I haven't watched many foreign language channels) But your right in saying it's the best for you. Because everyone does things differently, keeps fish differently, you have to make the choices that are best for you!.
I love how you actually care for these bettas unlike most breeders and fish keepers. I have been breeding bettas for profit for years now, and I have a similar system only way smaller (housing 50 bettas), and they all get daily water changes. But this kind of system is just so amazing, I’m honestly not sure how you did it! I do have a few questions though. Do you breed bettas? Or do you just import them?

BRAVO, you two did an excellent job, and fish can enjoy their lives until they go on to their forever homes. That is the way to sell bettas and you can see each one so clearly. Now you can really enjoy selling your Bettas out of your farm home. Wonderful set up for sure a lot of thought and labor you both should be proud of yourselves on setting that up.
