Congratulations on breeding success with the fishes.
Just a tip with the bettas.
    1. Use a piece of styrofoam sheet to insulate the floor then put the bowls on it. As it's on the floor it will have a lower temperatures and fluctuations and betta needs warmer temperature especially delicate fry.
    2. Use a piece of tape to stick the bubble wrap to a corner so it doesn't move around.
    3. You need to remove the males only when the fry are full horizontal and free swimming. Not when they are hatched.
    4. Betta fry do well on live foods won't work with first bites as with tetras or angels etc. If you have vinegar eels with 1 daily feeding, they can survive on that until you can feed live bbs.
    5. First time betta breeders can take from 2 to 5 days before getting eggs. So with the black dragon you removed the female too early. Also introduce the females from confinement in evening about 1 hour before lights are off. Less stress on females and they usually breed next morning. If the breeding fail with no eggs on 4 day i separate and reconditioning.
As for the angels I've noticed that once they select a spawn site they seldom change to different area. Hang a piece of pvc sheet over the area where they spawn after the eggs are hatched. Hopefully they will use it so you can easily remove eggs.
Best of luck with new fry.

@@CrowntailHalfmoon first bite actually foes work with baby bettas, saldy the growth of the fry will really show. Also you lose about id say 85%ish of the spawn. Ive had a spawn from first bite and their over a year old, but the same size of id say maybe 4ish month of spawn on live foods.

    • @CrowntailHalfmoon
      @CrowntailHalfmoon 3 года назад +1

      @@honeynutmc1862
      Thanks for sharing your experiences.
As you've mentioned you loose about 85% of spawn and growth is shunted using first bites.. I try to give the fry best chances of survival & growth so it's not a method i would do or recommend. However not many hobbyist can keep or maintain a large number of fry so if that works best for you.... That's your method and Congrats to you...
If you have no access to brineshrimp eggs. You should try culturing infusoria and microworms or vinegar eels cultures... I've found using a combination of these as first foods helps with fry survival as bettas have a high prey drive and will feed on it as it wriggles and moves avoiding starvation. Once they reach the 2 week age from hatching then you can introduce first bites as they will accept it more readily.... Also if you have access to moina and mosquito larva you can feed moina as substitute for brineshrimp from free swimming stage. Mosquito larva should be fed according to size of fry as they can easily choke on it. I start feeding mosquito larva around 1 month when i transition to solid foods.....Hopefully this can help you.
      Best of luck

    Love is in the water!
The Angels had a vibe from the Bettas.💓🥰
I recently placed all my ricefish together since I felt bad having 4 Youkihi's in a 5 gallon by themselves when I had 5 Pearl Galaxies inside a 1+ gallon jar...
I've had eggs but didn't do anything from preventing them from eating them, this time I know to pull the eggs and place them inside the 1+ gallon jar.
Can't tell the difference between the 2 either then the Pearl Galaxies have more shiney speckles on its side then the Youkihi's do. Maybe I'll get some Shiney Youkihi's 😅
I also am setting up a 5g tank to house a female and a male, need a tank separator first. Thinking of breeding them in a bin as I see alot of videos show.

I admire u a lot and hope to have a fish room similar to this one day. I have been trying to breed betta fish for what feels like forever with hardly any success. My pairs hardly ever work out & I have 12 betta fish. I can only mix and match so much. On a plus side 3 of the bettas are ones I've kept from a spawn. I condition for a few days, tried tub set ups, tank set ups, bucket set ups, and follow multiple youtubers and mine just don't mate. Or if they do its unfortunately not fertile. Any advice would be so helpful. (Anyone in the comments have advice, that would be helpful as well) honestly just wanna absorb as much info as possible and take time, be patient and see what happens. Atm I'm trying to keep the marble genetics and pass it down without much luck.

Hopefully this helps, they don’t not live together usually because they fight but sometime the females can be kept together more successfully if they are in a large tank sometimes they can live with other types of fish bettas have another name Siamese fighting fish which sums them up nicely

Problem with backyard breeders is they breed random Bettas together , and are left with a lot of unwanted betta with undesirable traits/colors.Basically flooding the market with garbage.

If the fish got blind later somehow, I think it's ok. But if it was blind from the beginning (or unknown how long), I would'n breed it.
But I also don't think it's ok to use these sterile tanks / tubs. To be strong, they need enviroment. And also I my fish always breed in decorated aquarium, I rarely have dead spawn. So I think natural breeding is much better than artificial for the breeding capabilities of the offspring.

I don't understand why you would breed a blind animal
