Very nice video . Well done . One suggestion. When you transfer bettas in small cups always make sure they are given some plant to help keep water clean . Like a little branch of horn wort or salvania or duck weed or similar . This little gesture goes a long way and keeps the fish healthy and relives a lot of stress . And also provides a good environment for fish to stay. Hope you will do so in future videos
They're still in molting stage, try using Indian Almond Leaves to improve their color. You can also try to make a Cattapa extract, put as many cattapa leaves as you want, in boiling pan with water. Boiling it can help extract the tanins, (the more leaves the stronger the extract). Th extracted tanins can be used on the bettas. (Off course you must cool it off first).
Just a tip- the females give the spawn 80% of the genetics so a "colorless" male would be an opportunity to use a colorful female and create what you want or get what u want in other spawns which is.what alot of breeders do (including me🙂🙂)
@@jordanjaygrant5962 it's not true. Female Betta will not dominate 80% of spawn. What colors you get is a gamble. Some may look like the parents but it's really just a gamble with colors you will get with betta
Nice to see the betta fry. 👍🐟 From what I've seen marble bettas with white colouring often end up losing the white colouring when they get older and become a solid colour. I bought my betta as a blue/white koi, but she marbled into fully dark blue fish. The same thing happened with my betta before. (he was white/blue with yellow fins) and his body turned fully blue over several months. I saw a video of someone breeding koi bettas and they said usually the celophane bettas will develop colours slower and will keep the marble patterns for longer and the ones that get a koi pattern first usually become a solid colour
Dry papaya leaves helps aswell. They strengthen and thicken bones and scales and help fin growth and healing. Aswell as helping them color up faster. "Side effect" is it slightly slows down the growth rate.
@@ZedsTechTipsI extract it from the leaves separately so I don't have to, it's easier to clean an empty container with broken down papaya leaves than a grow out tank with fry and broken down papaya leaves😂😂 I do the same with dry Indian almond, Banana and papaya leaves. I get a decent amount, wash it and just leave it outside in a bucket of clean water to extract. I leave it between 2-4 weeks before removing the leaves. After that I just free hand a decent amount into the fry tanks✅🐧 (p.s: Might get a little funky smell from the concentrated extract water)
Love all the colours! I actually love the peppered look. When you say the fins aren’t quite right, are you looking at shape? Length? Just curious about that process.
So what do you do about selling the normal pink ones? I'm sure the colorful ones are easier to sell, but how hard is it to sell off the normal ones? Do you sell them cheaper to stores, sell them in bulk on your website, etc?
Do the bio cups leach into the water though? I actually keep my pet store cups and re-purpose them as scoopers, storage, a cup for brine shrimp hatching, etc.
Can i ask is there some money to be made doing this? I really am in need of a secondary "job" from home. And betta are my fav fishies and i love spoiling them! How do you start and who could i sell to? Most stores already have their breeders.. Any tips please would be so helpful. I live in WA state. Thank you! Beautiful babies by the way. ❤
When you start raising the fry, can the males and females of the same .... litter .... stay together until time to cup and sell? How big of a tank do you put the fry in? 20 gallon once they are big enough?
@keepingFishSimple Hi just wondering if you are able to do pickup purchases on Bettas, I am based on the Sunshine Coast and was under the impression you are based in Brisbane
I feel the same way when I go into petsmart!! I bought 5 today just because I couldn't leave such beauties to most likely die in those cups in there. I told my friend to get me away from the bettas!!
Im just getting started in the breeding of bettas and to tell you the truth im clueless as far as well .....almost everything. I mean I've got the idea of what is supposed to go in during breeding.. 😉 but after you have babies and all where do you go to sell or can you do it all on-line ?
@@KeepingFishSimple Thanks man. Its part of the hobby so its okay fail. Will try again and again. Hahaha. Btw if you have time can you check the DMs on IG. Cheers!
Sweet vid! I saw some tiger endlers on your site as well as some guppies. Have you ever considered a hybrid of the two? Bet they’d look cool! Just a thought. Love all your content!
People in the comment section complaining on putting them in cups clearly never bred bettas before. Breeders in SE Asia do it also and they stay healthy! I breed bettas before, I didn't use plastic cups, Instead I used Cut-Rum bottles.
Bettas are nice because it's easy to pick the one you want. I hate the song and dance that goes in to getting, say a guppy, that you want. It's like "*sigh* well let's see which one I can catch. They're all pretty much the same." But I'm looking at the tail and the back, not just the colour and then I'll be the annoying customer going "No, I want that one!" 😅
These youngsters are going to change SO much! In six months they will not look like they do now. The youngsters with no colour will colour right up! Wait for it ;)
Recently purchased a male betta and have him in a 10 gallon with heater and filtration. He literally just hangs around motionless 95% of the time and only really is active when I feed him. Am I doing something wrong?
I’m going to check out some of the bettas because I love supporting and two I just really want another betta, can’t guarantee I will buy but I willl still look :D
There's tons of Bettas here in the US! If you want to find a local breeder check out FB or a local fish shop. If you want a flashy fish, Petco always has them but you have to be prepared in case as they are prone to getting sick easily
When they get sold to the pet shops there just gonna be in a cup again for more weeks or until there sold or die and because there being sold in cups people will think it’s ok to put them in a tiny bowl or tub or something without a filter or heater
Hey! Bettas not on website yet. Been busy with Easter and University but maybe this week!
Hey bro one question how do you continue breeding bettas to where you don’t cause brothers and sisters to breed together? Or does it not matter ?
Can I have Justin's channel name please? :)
