I'll join the chorus - the animated shows aren't just for kids, they are an integral part of the Star Wars saga. This is a Filoni episode, and he's the guy behind Clone Wars and Rebels - he also worked SUPER closely with George Lucas before the sale to Disney, and as such is a really important driver of the interweaving of elements from both canon and what can be reclaimed from the Expanded Universe, as well as creating new things - Ahsoka Tano is his creation, for instance. Guy knows his stuff, and he CARES. In Filoni we trust... And you're almost there - this is called "The BOOK of Boba Fett" for a reason. Thinking of literature like The Hobbit is not as far off the mark as you think...
Late to this but Jaby n co. didn’t watch Clone wars, bad batch, rebels and played the games. I didn’t play the game (Fallen order) But I’ve seen enough to know what happens.
Cad Bane is a notorious Bounty Hunter with a deadly reputation and skillset. He's on a short list of Bounty Hunters who can rival Boba's notoriety. He was a big part of the Clone Wars where he's fought against and even killed Jedi through his work for the Separatists.
This episode was fantastic. It manages to connect every saga in a way no other piece of star wars so far. It has connections to the original trilogy and the prequels and sequels. As well as nods to all the shows; The Mandalorian, clone wars and Rebels... And novels and comics. Perfection 👍
R2, Grogu, Luke Skywalker, Ahsoka, and Cobb Vanth were amazing appearances in this episode. But the second I saw the “Stanger” in the distance with the duster coat and badass hat my heart started to race and my breath was stolen away, because I knew that only other person in the Galaxy who could truly challenge Boba Fett for the title of deadliest man in the Galaxy (who is not a force wielder) had just entered the game. CAD FREAKING BANE!!!!!! And Corey Burton who voiced him sounds as badass as ever. I also loved seeing Ahsoka and Luke finally together👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. I just wish we could see the first time they met and talked about Anakin, maybe we’ll see that as a flashback in Ahsoka. The one thing I didn’t like though is that Luke gave Grogu an ultimatum of either being a Jedi or a Mandalorian. I know that the Jedi are not supposed to form attachments to anyone but it was exactly Luke’s attachment to his father that brought Anakin back to the light and saved the Galaxy. Maybe it’s to foreshadow how Luke needed to reevaluate the rules of the Jedi and make a new and more open minded code for them to live by.
Those same attachments also led to him losing his hand too. It goes both ways but also sets his attitude forwards towards The Last Jedi so if he kept that way of thinking up until that point, it makes sense that he's thought a certain way for 30 years and for it to have been then proven wrong with Bens turn, no wonder he became bitter
I've seen Cad only first 2 episodes he has in Clone Wars. Others just photos in The Bad Batch insta posts. But I knew the second I saw him far away in the desert.
Man, Cad Bane had me shouting at my TV. I was hoping he would come in but my brain still can't believe they really did it. Man still around kicking ass after all these years just as he did in the Clone War era.

Boba has SO much backstory they haven't explored. The 4 episodes are just an explanation of his change as a character, I do think we'll be seeing much more Boba though in the future of Star Wars.
See for someone who hasn’t been up on all the now considered Legends books and everything else he’s subsequently appeared in, this show hasn’t done much in terms of showing me why everyone LOVES him. While I do like the show, I never really got him transitioning from that ruthless bounty hunter to this now stoic, Rancor loving man we know now. Imma still keep up and hope for more but honestly, Boba just been overhyped to me from day 1 and this show shows how The Mandolorian was what this show should have been in my opinion. Nevertheless, still glad for the actor returning.
I imagine that their plans are for multiple seasons and they can fill in as we go. Right now they are trying to establish his present status and also build a franchise that is connected to the other shows. I have no issues with this. People don't have patience to just follow a story. Outside of comic books, Boba Fett is really most well known for falling into the Salacc. We never saw him do anything in the movies to explain his reputation.

@@Ashley_e Joy.... was not the reaction I had when I made out the hat in the distance. Moment I had even the slightest inkling of who it was I got a pit in my stomach instead. Cad Bane is a rule breaker - that is to say the normal rules and tropes of a series don't apply to him, and in almost every one of his appearances he was a legitimate threat and no play or gambit was off the table. Moment I knew who it was I knew Cobb Vanth was going to die - or at best, be taken out of the game.

Not only did they give us things we wanted they gave us things we only dreamed of. What was the over/under on a order 66 flashback? Or Luke and Ahsoka having screentime together before Mando Season 3?
Cad freaking Bane wow he looks so awesome in live action, of course Corey Burton brings the character to life with his iconic voice but honestly the physical actor (who I assume is most likely a stunt double) was surprisingly very accurate and faithful to how he was animated in both Clone Wars and Bad Batch, the actor both had to wear a bunch of layered clothing AND extensive prosthetics but was able to bring across just how ruthless and imposing Bane can be, the combination of that with Burton’s voice fully brings Cad to life and imo it worked practically perfectly

That guy with the hat is Cad Bane, a legendary bounty hunter...., Was kind of a mentor to Boba Fett during the clone wars. If I remember right they parted on wrong terms. Dude was so badass that he had gone toe to toe with the likes of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Quinlan Vos, Asoka Tano and Boba Fett himself.
I'm surprised you didn't know Cad Bane, he is one of the most iconic bounty hunters in Star Wars. Him showing up means sh!t is about to go down, the guy is no joke. He has put up one hell of a fight even against Jedi.
He only can fight Jedi because Clone Wars rules dictate that Jedi lose their ability to competently use the force whenever fighting a non-force user main character :)

@@Kristers_K Obi-wan should be able to toss grievous like a rag doll. But somehow every time he faces a Jedi it comes down to a saber fight. Then the next episode Obi-wan is force tossing a tank. LOL. No non-force user can realistically stand up to a Jedi. They have no conceivable defense against the force. What stops Obi-wan from just force grabbing Cad Banes hands, disarming him ala Vader vs Han and suspending him in the air. If he crosses a Sith it's a neck snap in under 2 seconds. Game over. Not a thing Bane can do about it.

Yeah me either, an everyone been saying that boba isn't the same bounty hunter that he used to be, but I think he's still in there ( the bad ass that would blast ya just for looking at him wrong) an something is going to happen that is going to make him go off!!! I know most people have already commented that the gunslinger is Cad Bane but Cad also fought Fenneck in The Bad Batch (pre all this) & she beat him but barely. Luke looked amazing! Grogu 😍 Mando 😢 And Ahsoka's comments about Anakin was great fan service.
Cad Bane is a bad mother.... he's from the Clone Wars. And has gone toe to toe with Obi-Wan, Anakin, Ahsoka, and others we consider to be badass. This blue man ain't no joke!
After watching bad batch and this, Cad Bane has main character durability at this point. Man lived from the clone wars through the end of the empire and even now.
The guy with the hat, is Cad Bane, a famous bounty hunter from The Clone Wars series. And more to be based on The Man With No Name, Cad Bane is more based on "Angel Eyes" another villain from the Man with no Name trilogy, from The Good The Bad and The Ugly movie.
HOLY S^^^!!! Luke Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano meeting each other after ROTJ is finally canon. Also, the blue guy with the hat that shot Cobb Vanth and his deputy is known as Cad Bane who appeared in both The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch, and I definitely did not expect to see his live-action debut in this episode.
Cade Bane is one of the most infamous bounty hunters in star wars. He is all throughout the clone wars and was one of the Hutt's go to hires for their most difficult and high stakes jobs. He is extremely expensive and dangerous. He also went toe to toe with many Jedi and Sith throughout the clone wars and survived, and at one point he almost killed Obi-Wan. Highly recommend you watch through the clone wars if you'd like to see more of him.
I'm sorry, I know you get told this all the time, but you guys HAVE to watch Clone Wars and Rebels! It is now absolutely essential watching, and they're canon, and Clone Wars is some of the best Star Wars content ever. I was tearing up the entire episode with Ahsoka there and my entire body went insane when Cad Bane showed up, just because I've seen those shows. Ahsoka is a top 5 Star Wars character
Bane is here .. attention Bane is here !! Damn .. never thought he would have a part in it !!!! He was almost a regular character in Clone wars & Rebels
They used a synthesizer to match what Hamill's voice would have sounded like four decades ago, and Hamill actually returned, but it they worked with RUclipsr Shamook, who was hired to help them retool the VFX. Also, Scott Lang was the stunt double, and Graham Hamilton was the performance artist. BTW, Cad Bane is a bounty hunter from the cartoons.
So this is not a spoiler beacuse you don't see that in any of the shows but Boba and Cad Bane (blue dude) have history, before the Clone Wars was canceled after Season 5 the creators of the show were planning a Bounty Hunters ARC featuring all the bounty hunters we've met throughout the show, Bane was also supposed to teach young Boba and Boba was supossed to put on his father's armor for the first time, then Cad Bane and Boba were going to have a cowboy style duel, they both shot each other in the head but Boba's helmet protected him (that's why Boba has a dent on his helmet) Bane also got shot in his head and it was thought he died but somehow he survived and now he has a metal plate on his head, even though this ARC was never finished he is considered a canon. You can even find their match on RUclips, but the animation is not finished

Cad Bane damn, I never knew they were gonna show him ever, but it makes sense ending his character, he survived throughout the clone wars, and in star wars rebels. He was so big back then and he sent shivers down my spine whenever he made an entrance. Star wars can actually make a separate series on just him.
How do you two not know who Cad Bane was? He was probably one of the biggest villains outside of Count Dooku, Darth Sidius, and General Grievous in the Clone Wars. And then once again in Bad Batch where he ran up against Fennec Shand herself. And yes, he is a reference to The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, but he's Lee Van Cleef's character, Sentenza. Cad Bane plays a Bounty Hunter who was originally hired by The Hutts, so us Clone Wars fans were kinda surprised that the Twins (from Ep. II) didn't bring in Cad Bane then.

In the behind the scenes special on Disney+ about the season 2 finale of The Mandalorian, they said that Mark Hamill's voice was completely computer generated. I assume they did the same thing here so that is probably why there is a slight disconnect when Luke speaks versus the other characters. Also, the character in the duel is Cad Bane, a bounty hunter that was first introduced in The Clone Wars animated series as well as The Bad Batch. This is the first time he has appeared in live action. He has some history with Boba Fett, and I wouldn't be surprised if we find out he was the one who took out the Tusken tribe for the Pikes, setting him up to be the main adversary for Boba.

Look, its antdroids! Luke looks soooo good in this. They guy they hired is doing a great job. Plus it probably helps that they can devote more resources and people to the project because they don't have to worry so much about keeping it a secret.
So between Mando Season 2 and Book of Boba Fett, Disney hired one of the best deepfake artists on RUclips, who goes by Shamook. That's part of why Luke looks so much better here. In Mando S2, they didn't use deepfake, but instead tried to manually collage his face together from archive footage. The actor who stands in for Luke's body (and whose facial performance the deepfake is based on) is Max Lloyd Jones. As for Luke's voice, both in Mando S2 and here, Luke's voice is entirely computer generated using voice synthesis technology by a company called Respeecher. His voice is based on a stand-in vocal performer and synthesized using archive voice samples of Mark Hamill from interviews, movies, etc.
luke did say that grogu is just remembering instead of him teaching him. and grogu is 50 years old, short time for him is a lifetime to others. which means he is already a full on jedi but traumatized and having amnesia. thoery wise
For starters, Cad Bane is the most dangerous bounty hunter out there. He has held the entire Senate hostage in Coruscant right under the nose of Yoda, Obi wan, Mace Windu and Anakin. He has duelled against Quinlan Vos and Obi wan singlehandedly and has come out undefeated. He also saved Obiwan's life during a trial held by Count Dooku to choose assassins to attack Palpatine. He is an ultimate badass. He also fought against the Bad batch (a group of enhanced clones) and won that battle with ease taking out their leader like a mosquito.
Hope that Grogu doesn't try to hurt Boba by recognizing his voice as a Clone of his father Jango Fett, as part of his trauma from the 501st Legion attacking the Jedi Temple during Order 66 😰🤔.

Cad Bane was Jango's rival and became the #1 bounty hunter after his death in EP 2. He had a lot of respect for Jango and subsequently took Boba under his wing. The episode of Clone Wars was never finished because it was canceled. The unfinished episode was released and ended with Bane and Boba at odds and having a standoff. They both shot each other in the head but Boba had his helmet on which is where the dent came from. Bane barely managed to survive and later went up against Shand and the Bad Batch.
I feel badly for all those who didn't watch any of the Animated Series. Because all those that did had a complete holyshit moment when the blue guy known as CAD Bane appeared. He's been a Star Wars character for over a decade now so to finally see him live-action after all those years was pretty g d incredible. But for everyone else it was just oh hey who's that?

Yes David Filoni made the Clone War's fill in so Many Gap's in the Galaxy Far Away.... The the Prequel's are Better Viewing Now .(in My Opinion .)

Cad freaking Bane wow he looks so awesome in live action, of course Corey Burton brings the character to life with his iconic voice but honestly the physical actor (who I assume is most likely a stunt double) was surprisingly very accurate and faithful to how he was animated in both Clone Wars and Bad Batch, the actor both had to wear a bunch of layered clothing AND extensive prosthetics but was able to bring across just how ruthless and imposing Bane can be, the combination of that with Burton’s voice fully brings Cad to life and imo it worked practically perfectly

That guy with the hat is Cad Bane, a legendary bounty hunter...., Was kind of a mentor to Boba Fett during the clone wars. If I remember right they parted on wrong terms. Dude was so badass that he had gone toe to toe with the likes of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Quinlan Vos, Asoka Tano and Boba Fett himself.
I'm surprised you didn't know Cad Bane, he is one of the most iconic bounty hunters in Star Wars. Him showing up means sh!t is about to go down, the guy is no joke. He has put up one hell of a fight even against Jedi.
He only can fight Jedi because Clone Wars rules dictate that Jedi lose their ability to competently use the force whenever fighting a non-force user main character :)

@@Kristers_K Obi-wan should be able to toss grievous like a rag doll. But somehow every time he faces a Jedi it comes down to a saber fight. Then the next episode Obi-wan is force tossing a tank. LOL. No non-force user can realistically stand up to a Jedi. They have no conceivable defense against the force. What stops Obi-wan from just force grabbing Cad Banes hands, disarming him ala Vader vs Han and suspending him in the air. If he crosses a Sith it's a neck snap in under 2 seconds. Game over. Not a thing Bane can do about it.
I don't care what people think about last two episodes of Boba Fett having more of other characters in it instead of him. I just loved these two episodes so f***ing much. ☄🌌
Yeah me either, an everyone been saying that boba isn't the same bounty hunter that he used to be, but I think he's still in there ( the bad ass that would blast ya just for looking at him wrong) an something is going to happen that is going to make him go off!!! Cade Bane is one of the most infamous bounty hunters in star wars. He is all throughout the clone wars and was one of the Hutt's go to hires for their most difficult and high stakes jobs. He is extremely expensive and dangerous. He also went toe to toe with many Jedi and Sith throughout the clone wars and survived, and at one point he almost killed Obi-Wan. Highly recommend you watch through the clone wars if you'd like to see more of him.
Watching animated characters brought into live action is so satisfying. Specially when they're done right. Damn, Cad bane looks badass.
I'm sorry, I know you get told this all the time, but you guys HAVE to watch Clone Wars and Rebels! It is now absolutely essential watching, and they're canon, and Clone Wars is some of the best Star Wars content ever. I was tearing up the entire episode with Ahsoka there and my entire body went insane when Cad Bane showed up, just because I've seen those shows. Ahsoka is a top 5 Star Wars character

Bane is here .. attention Bane is here !! Damn .. never thought he would have a part in it !!!! He was almost a regular character in Clone wars & Rebels
They used a synthesizer to match what Hamill's voice would have sounded like four decades ago, and Hamill actually returned, but it they worked with RUclipsr Shamook, who was hired to help them retool the VFX. Also, Scott Lang was the stunt double, and Graham Hamilton was the performance artist. BTW, Cad Bane is a bounty hunter from the cartoons.
So this is not a spoiler beacuse you don't see that in any of the shows but Boba and Cad Bane (blue dude) have history, before the Clone Wars was canceled after Season 5 the creators of the show were planning a Bounty Hunters ARC featuring all the bounty hunters we've met throughout the show, Bane was also supposed to teach young Boba and Boba was supossed to put on his father's armor for the first time, then Cad Bane and Boba were going to have a cowboy style duel, they both shot each other in the head but Boba's helmet protected him (that's why Boba has a dent on his helmet) Bane also got shot in his head and it was thought he died but somehow he survived and now he has a metal plate on his head, even though this ARC was never finished he is considered a canon. You can even find their match on RUclips, but the animation is not finished
I can recommend watching an episode breakdown like the one from the Star Wars Explained channel called "The Book of Boba Fett Chapter 6 - Star Wars Easter Eggs and References You May Have Missed!" to understand more of the references.

Cad Bane damn, I never knew they were gonna show him ever, but it makes sense ending his character, he survived throughout the clone wars, and in star wars rebels. He was so big back then and he sent shivers down my spine whenever he made an entrance. Star wars can actually make a separate series on just him.
How do you two not know who Cad Bane was? He was probably one of the biggest villains outside of Count Dooku, Darth Sidius, and General Grievous in the Clone Wars. And then once again in Bad Batch where he ran up against Fennec Shand herself. And yes, he is a reference to The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, but he's Lee Van Cleef's character, Sentenza. Cad Bane plays a Bounty Hunter who was originally hired by The Hutts, so us Clone Wars fans were kinda surprised that the Twins (from Ep. II) didn't bring in Cad Bane then.

In the behind the scenes special on Disney+ about the season 2 finale of The Mandalorian, they said that Mark Hamill's voice was completely computer generated. I assume they did the same thing here so that is probably why there is a slight disconnect when Luke speaks versus the other characters.
Also, the character in the duel is Cad Bane, a bounty hunter that was first introduced in The Clone Wars animated series as well as The Bad Batch. This is the first time he has appeared in live action. He has some history with Boba Fett, and I wouldn't be surprised if we find out he was the one who took out the Tusken tribe for the Pikes, setting him up to be the main adversary for Boba.

So between Mando Season 2 and Book of Boba Fett, Disney hired one of the best deepfake artists on RUclips, who goes by Shamook. That's part of why Luke looks so much better here. In Mando S2, they didn't use deepfake, but instead tried to manually collage his face together from archive footage. The actor who stands in for Luke's body (and whose facial performance the deepfake is based on) is Max Lloyd Jones.
As for Luke's voice, both in Mando S2 and here, Luke's voice is entirely computer generated using voice synthesis technology by a company called Respeecher. You can read about how they contributed to Mando S2 on their website. His voice is based on a stand-in vocal performer and synthesized using archive voice samples of Mark Hamill from interviews, movies, etc.

For starters, Cad Bane is the most dangerous bounty hunter out there. He has held the entire Senate hostage in Coruscant right under the nose of Yoda, Obi wan, Mace Windu and Anakin. He has duelled against Quinlan Vos and Obi wan singlehandedly and has come out undefeated. He also saved Obiwan's life during a trial held by Count Dooku to choose assassins to attack Palpatine. He is an ultimate badass. He also fought against the Bad batch (a group of enhanced clones) and won that battle with ease taking out their leader like a mosquito.

Cad Bane was Jango's rival and became the #1 bounty hunter after his death in EP 2. He had a lot of respect for Jango and subsequently took Boba under his wing. The episode of Clone Wars was never finished because it was canceled. The unfinished episode was released and ended with Bane and Boba at odds and having a standoff. They both shot each other in the head but Boba had his helmet on which is where the dent came from. Bane barely managed to survive and later went up against Shand and the Bad Batch.

I feel badly for all those who didn't watch any of the Animated Series. Because all those that did had a complete holyshit moment when the blue guy known as CAD Bane appeared. He's been a Star Wars character for over a decade now so to finally see him live-action after all those years was pretty g d incredible. But for everyone else it was just oh hey who's that?
The choice that Luke gives Grogu at the end reminds me so much of the choice that Ogami Itto gives to his one-year-old son in "Lone Wolf & Cub".
