He only exploded onto the international scene a year ago, with this very song. Since you are are French, you might know that SOS is a song from the 1978 French Canadian rock opera Starmania. It was originally sung by Daniel Balavoine and later by Gregory Lemarchal. But their style is nothing like Dimash’s. After this performance, Dimash was invited to perform on the France 2 program Les Annees Bonheur, where he received a standing ovation.
Later, in May last year, he also sang at the Global Gift Gala in Paris, and at the Cannes Film Festival. Also at a UNESCO gala later last year. He launched in December 16 his D-Dynasty world tour so its only a matter of time before he sings at some location near you.

This was actually the first performance for the China competition's new season of The Singer 2017 [which was why the crowd was excited for it to start at the beginning] -- but what is often overlooked is that he was pretty much a complete unknown to that audience [he's from Kazakhstan and didn't speak any Chinese at that time], and he was the least expected or anticipated to do much since he was pretty much unknown to the audience [which is why he was placed to go first -- the most anticipated singers were set to perform last on that episode].
This was the first time the China audience and other performers in the back room on the show heard him sing. Between his first performance ["S.O.S." in French] and his 2nd performance [Vita's "Opera 2" in Russian], he quickly won their hearts completely.

Adorei a reação meninas, Dimash é mesmo sensacional. Ele tem 3 vozes, a Normal, Baritono e Soprano... isso o torna diferente e especial. No passado, ele sofreu criticas e piadas discriminatórias sobre sua voz de soprano, que é linda,angelical. This was the first round of "I Am a Singer," so nobody knew who he was, or had any expectation he'd be so great. His dad is a famous singer in Kazakhstan, which is why Dimash went abroad to prove himself -- to sing somewhere he wouldn't be known because of his family name. You can see his dad in the audience when he sings Opera 2 -- the camera cuts to a good looking older man from time to time. That's his father.
You girls are so lucky to have found Dimash early! I just found him 1 week ago! How did I miss him?!!!

I want to express my admiration and respect for you 4 girls. I had just watched a reaction in which there was no respect for the listener, no awareness of what they were seeing and hearing, just ridiculing and foolishness. I thought, "I'm not watching anymore girl reactions!" But I watched you girls, and it was a real pleasure to see that you realized what you were seeing.
