This was actually the first performance for the China competition's new season of The Singer 2017 [which was why the crowd was excited for it to start at the beginning] -- but what is often overlooked is that he was pretty much a complete unknown to that audience [he's from Kazakhstan and didn't speak any Chinese at that time], and he was the least expected or anticipated to do much since he was pretty much unknown to the audience [which is why he was placed to go first -- the most anticipated singers were set to perform last on that episode].
This was the first time the China audience and other performers in the back room on the show heard him sing. Between his first performance ["S.O.S." in French] and his 2nd performance [Vita's "Opera 2" in Russian], he quickly won their hearts completely.

He has been training in voice (yes, opera) and piano since he was five years old. He calls his genre "neoclassical". He just graduated with a degree in music from his school in Kazakhstan - his studies were slowed down by concerts and other events after his enormous success in Singer 2017 (which, by the way, he did not win). He travels with at least one vocal coach and studies hard to achieve his dreams. He is very proud of his homeland, Kazakhstan - as they are of him - he was named a "National Treasure" there. They have a saying, "Welcome to Kazakhstan" which means (approximately) "Hello, friend, my home is your home" - so I say, Welcome to Dimashstan :D DKIFC/USA

Yes, he covered almost all the songs to a whole new level that you'd barely remembered the original versions. Btw he has several of his own songs too in Kazakh, Mandarin and English, all of them are great. He's amazing, in the truest meaning of the word 😊

Thanks for the reaction!! Dimash, although classically trained is not an opera singer. He was apparently offered an opera position and declined because he wanted to pursue another genre of music, which can be seen in his latest songs e.g. Hello by Lionel Ritchie, and Screaming, which was composed for Dimash. Great reaction! I subscribed hoping you will do more Dimash, SOS was 1st episode yet all of his performances are mind-blowing. He sings in several languages he has a 6 octave range. Trained in classical music since age of 5yrs but he prefers rock & pop music merging into a new genre called Pop-era. He was 22yrs when he performed here, now 24.

Dimash did have Opera training but chose to go a different route. He is eventually going for a classical pop type of music and written several songs of his own. One of them on the singer. You really should watch the series of Singer 2017. He does such a variety in different languages including English which he is now learning along with Mandarin. Except for Kazakh, Russian and one other language, which he speaks fluently, Dimash usually memorizes one song in another language for the country he is singing in so they hear a song in their language. You will hear the languages above including Italian etc. but none of it will really matter. He puts his heart and soul into his songs and you do not need to understand them to appreciate. He surprises you with something new in each and every song. Please enjoy and we hope to see a run of reactions. Opera 2 is next. Noteworthy songs are one from his own country, Daididau and Adagio. For an absolute pure ending soprano note Autumn Song is just beautiful.

There are 2 people who amazed me with their singing ability: Dimash Kudaibergen and So Hyang.
Dimash not only has angelic voice, thr ability to sing 6 octaves. He’s also a great performer (the way his face expression and body movement, etc)!

There are so many videos to check on Dimash if you would like to check! He is from Kazakhstan, who gained huge popularity after being invited to Chinese Singing competition ‘The Singer’! The performance you watched was the first episode, which made Dimash famous over the night! Many people adore him not because of his singing abilities only but also for his personality, noble and simple attitude, kindness to younger’s and respect to elders, for cherishing life and cultural values! He is Dimash!
This is a song from the "rock opera" Starmania, composed here in France by Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon . This song was sang for the first time in the end of the 70ies by Daniel Balavoine . It's certainly one of the best success creation in our Country . Later, they recorded it in english (with Cindy Lauper / the world is stone) . Daniel Balavoine (dead, unfortunately, like Michel Berger), had a real high pitched voice . Dimash has the same kind of voice (better sometimes) . This version is really nice !
