Nicely done! I also recently did cpr on an ASM 252 newsstand I had previously gotten a 9.6 on after a press. A year later I had learned a lot more about pressing and I resubmitted for the Tom Defalco and Ron Frenz signature series. Got the 9.8!
Just got back a small submission that I sent just days before all the banana-gate videos started surfacing. Sure enough, 2 of the 10 slabs have a warped inner well causing creasing to the center of the books. 3 of the slabs have minor warping without a crease. CGC is 100% aware of this issue by this point but are still shipping out damaged books. I will not submit to them anymore. If they had lost one of my books, I could forgive them because mistakes happen. This is not a mistake. They know they have an issue but are choosing not to address it properly. I only send books in a couple times a year but from now in it will either be CBCS or PSA when they start up.
@@300baud I have about a total 500 books I was waiting to send in because I want to make a year long subscription worth it instead of a one and done. I finally found someone near me that cleans and presses comics (I'd use this guy, but honestly I have no idea how to get in contact 😂) and was going to start my CGC subscription. Well banana gate happened as I was filling out the form and I stopped immediately.
Nice technique dabbing with damp cotton round and tack iron. You don't mention it, but the silicon release paper is essential. Before and after would have been nice.
If the slab is undamaged, I would say it's CGC's fault for the well not properly securing the comic. But I will say FedEx is the worst for needlessly tossing packages around. I look forward to your video detailing the damage.
What do you think about submitting the same book at the same time to CGC for grading? Do you think that is a good idea or should they go into different submissions so that the grader doesn't end up comparing the books and giving you a lesser grade? Let me know. Thanks!
Where is the video of the damage from fedex? I couldn't find it
Here it is: ruclips.net/video/5Q-QZgG0YHE/видео.html
@@ImproveCollectingComics thanks
I can't wait until I am as confident as you are with cleaning and pressing!
Man your tacking iron technique is on point👏
That's a beauty of a job on that one!

Bold move especially with banana gate going on.
This was recorded before the scandal
@@ImproveCollectingComics ah, that makes sense then. I'm really sorry your book got damaged. I'm holding off on submitting myself.
Awesome CPR. Congrats!
Thanks!
Congrats in the bump. Sorry to hear about the mishandling.

CBCS all the way imho! Just wish they made some awesome custom labels!

It's never been a problem for me, I just make sure I separate them in the submission, with books in between, so that they get fresh eyes
@@ImproveCollectingComics But wouldn't it be the same grader who will see the books in the same submission?
So fedex damaged the book after you got the 9.8? Is it still good enough to hold its value? I couldn’t tell the damage by that last photo
Yes, exactly. They did a good job pressing out the bend
Tha absorbene pad sounds like sand paper.
It kinda does lol
