Even as someone who owns all these, it's still so satisfying and cool to see them all put together like this. Also, no way, I also got the Temple Escape for my birthday as a kid....also in 2009......when I also turned 7 years old lol
How am I only now finding this channel?? Fantastic video!!! I had all of these sets and seeing them all again in such detail has brought back so many memories.
Hey man, I just wanted to thank you for making this video! You're a couple of years younger than me, but it was a lot of fun hearing about someone else's experience (as a kid) with Indiana Jones and these sets during that time. 2008-2009 is an extremely nostalgic time for me as a child, the amount of content in both media and merchandise we got from so many different IP's during that time is unmatched. I have very fond memories of playing with these sets in particular and even when I got each one, so this was such a trip down memory lane for me. It also makes me happy to see another KOTCS fan, I honestly don't see many out there, but when I do; they're usually around our age. Your video was was delightful and entertaining, you covered everything perfectly and I love your positivity. Keep it up, dude! (SIDE NOTE: I was cracking up at the different choices of music during the video haha I loved how you had Halo music towards the beginning)
Man I remember being 10 and wanting these sets so bad. I got the tent set, river boat, and motorcycle chase. My parents couldnt really afford much else. Now that im grown up with a real job I am seriously considering grabbing the 2023 Idol Temple set. One of my coworkers actually has it in his cubicle in the office and it looks fantastic. It'll probably be my next lego purchase along side the mona lisa when it releases.
22:56, I’m right there with you, as I always wondered what the blue material was as a kid, often settling on clay. This is a fantastic video and it’s great to see all of these amazing sets together in one retrospective. -From one Crystal Skull defender to another!

I can’t believe I STILL have my arc from my original set I got as an 8 year old. I still remember building it right when it came out. Really happy I was able to keep part of the set :)
I remember getting the Truck Chase set when it came out. Had to be one of my most memorable sets at the time. That next to mars mission was such a good series. So recently, I got a wave of Nostalgia from the former Indiana Jones sets I owned so I purchased 2/3 New IJ sets of the new wave. Really hope Lego Steps it up and continues to make more.
I had the full first wave of sets growing up and I have some really great memories playing with these. I remember when I got and built each of these sets. Fantastic memories. I got all the new sets this past year and was really looking forward to the temple of doom set since I missed out on the one when I was a kid.
One of my favorite under-appreciated details in both the temple builds is the baby dinosaur piece being used as a statue, it even looks like a face when hung upside down!
Somehow, I had every single set from this theme's first year. I would've been ten and a half years old when the initial wave (7620-7623) released, obtaining "Motorcycle Chase" (7620) as my first set of the theme on Wednesday, March 26 of 2008. Despite being one of the smallest sets of the theme, it is actually one of just three sets to have a dark stone gray pith helmet, which also appears in a "Monster Fighters" set (10228) from 2012. At the time of its release, it was also the smallest set to have the 1x2 palisade brick in tan. In April of 2008, I would obtain the "Well of Souls" set (7621), though I'm also not sure what the occasion was for. This set would be the first of only four sets to have the 1x4 palisade brick in tan, as well as the smallest set to have such. This was also the first set to have 6x12 plates in "sand yellow", a color which had been somewhat infrequent over the prior six years since its introduction as part of a "Drome Racers" set (4588) from September 2002. The 1x6x5 wall elements in tan within the tomb first appeared as part of "Mrs. Puff's Boating School" (4982) from Spongebob in August 2007, but the Well of Souls was my first time getting them. For most of the first half of that Spring, those two were the only Indiana Jones sets I had, until the first "Crystal Skull" wave (7624-7627) was released at the season's midpoint in early May. The first set I obtained from this wave was the "Jungle Duel" (7624) at some point after Thursday, May 1, but before May 22 of 2008 (the day of the film's release) when I went with my 4th grade class on a field trip to Ellis Island. Despite its small size, this set marked the first appearance of a cloth tent element in over a decade-having last appeared in black as part of the "Sphinx Secret Surprise" set (5978) from the earlier "Adventurers" theme in early 1998. Irina Spalko marked the debut of a "Page Bob Cut" style of hair piece in black, which continues to be used today, having also appeared in Mata red, dark brown, dark orange, bright orange and white within that time. One of these colors of this part was also a set-exclusive element, but that's a different story. Spalko was also my first time getting minifigure legs in medium stone gray, which had first appeared in April 2004 as part of "Peter Pettigrew" in a Harry Potter set (4756) released in the runup to the release of the film of "Prisoner of Azkaban" in early June of that year. She also marked the debut of the minifigure cutlass-largely associated with the early "Pirates" theme (1989-97 with some sets re-released under new set numbers between 2001 and 2002) recolored in dark stone gray, as well as the weapon's first appearance in five years, having been last seen in the original dark gray in the largest set (7419) of the "Orient Expedition" theme (technically a subtheme of "Adventurers" in mid-2003. Dark stone gray would go on to become the most common color of this part, surpassing the old dark gray, and is still in use today. The table in this set also features a 1x1 "tooth plate" in "flame yellow"-which first appeared in a Bionicle minifigure-scale set (8759) from 2005, and for two years, the Jungle Duel was the smallest set to have this part in said color. Being surpassed by a Creator polybag (30021) in 2010. This set was also the smallest to have a Ninja-style katana in warm gold, which first appeared in 2007 as part of a set (8107) from the "Exo-Force" theme. Two monthes later for my 11th birthday on Thursday July 17, 2008, I would obtain the remaining two sets (7622 and 7623) from the initial wave, as well as the "River Chase" (7625) and the "Jungle Cutter" (7626). To this day, many parts comprising the truck carrying the treasure chest/Ark in the first of these (7622) remain set-exclusive as do the tan "Western caps" on the German soldiers. Similar to the previous paragraph, this set marked the first appearance of the 6x5x2 "vehicle cab base" in five years, last appearing in the old shades of gray during 2003 within two sets (7414 and 7419) from the previously-mentioned "Orient Expedition" theme. As such, the truck carrying the Ark marked the first of only two sets to have this part in dark stone gray, though it would also appear in black, tan, Metru red, dark azure and lime green over the following thirteen years. Last (and only time so far) appearing in lime green as part of a DC Super Heroes set (76180) in 2021. The "Temple Escape" (7623) was the first set since the "Scorpion Palace" (7418) from 2003 to feature a pre-fabricated boulder now recolored in medium stone gray. In addition to the dark stone gray mini T-rexes as decoration, this set also marks the third and final appearance of the 4x10x6 "BURPs" in a marbled color scheme of dark stone gray and Metru green (earth green), which debuted in 2007 in two "Castle" sets (7036 and 7094). The pontoon plane in this set marks the only appearance of the 1x2x2 window elements in dark stone gray, and part of the temple marks the third of seven appearances of the 12x3 "wedge plates" in Metru green. The part where the golden idol is also marks the first of two appearances of the 1x1 bamboo leaves in dark stone gray. The "River Chase" set (7625) marked the debut of the original crocodile mold in Metru green, and the first appearance of this part in four years. Several of the parts in this color on the vehicle were never used again after 2008, notably the 1x1x1 "corner panels". The "Jungle Cutter" (7626) was the final set to have 2x3 45-degree slope bricks and the 1x1x5 open stud brick in Metru green. The 6x5 leaves in that color first appeared in a Castle set (7094) from 2007 and are still in use today. It would take until Christmas of 2008 before I would obtain the "Temple of Akator" (7627), which was also the final appearance of the "Fenris head" in Metru red which house the falling skulls in the set. But no other pieces were rare or exclusive to this set. This could also be said for "Peril in Peru" (7628), though I didn't get it until August 2009. In spite of that, it was also one of only three sets to have the plane turbines in Metru blue (earth blue), and most of the sand green parts used for the Soviet soldiers were phased out. With only the minifigure legs remaining to this day...
I just realised how wild it is that Lego has an explicit CCCP reference in River Chase. I had always remembered it as a sort of similar deal to the Nazis where they were just nondescript soldiers. Also, damn, Jungle Dual gives me so much nostalgia. I remember my dad getting it for me as a treat for doing well in school all year. I had the Flying Wing too, it was a Christmas gift and probably the biggest set I ever owned as a kid.

It’s so worth rebuilding them if you have the pieces. One of my favourite things to do is find pieces in my collection to rebuild old Lego Star Wars sets
My lost tomb back in the day came with a clone wars anakin head instead of an Indiana jones head. Did this happen to anyone else or just me? I think it was this set, anyway. Maybe I’m wrong I just know this happened to an Indiana jones set of mine and it confused the hell out of me as a kid.
Yeah it happened to me and several other people I know. That was a common error in the first run of the set which thankfully got corrected fairly quickly
I also love Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull... It was actually the first Indiana Jones movie I ever watched, so it introduced me to the general style and tone of the franchise. But I have to say, I like this one better than the previous ones: for some reason it's just way more fun to watch old Harrison Ford beat up bad guys. Although something that DOES bother me is the misrepresentation of peruvian culture, my culture. We're not Mexico, y'know?
The way you can tell Lego has gone downhill in the fun factor is the fact that the new well of souls set only has five snakes :( Either way, the original temple escape set is perfect. I like that the boulder is literally just one piece, meaning you can easily pull it out and use it for MOCs in comparison to the much newer one that's a complex technic build.
Great video! I had several of these sets as a kid and just recently completed the collection. Curious, why the Uncharted soundtrack instead of Indiana Jones?😂
Great collection! I used Uncharted music because Indiana Jones music likely would have made the video taken down, but also because I LOVE uncharted, borderline love it more than Indiana Jones!
In defense of the “Well of the Souls” set, I think it’s a question of design vs accuracy. In this case, design wins, hands down. Even this many years later, I still remember the design of the original version of the set. The new version, while accurate and to a decent scale, is still very much just a wall attached to a platform, with a little bit of set dressing. Not very remarkable. I’ll take the original version any day.
@@JediJared-bs1wt LEGO is extremely anti making LEGO military, they can do trucks jeeps and planes because they can justify they aren’t only used for war, a tank however, is almost exclusively used for combat, therefor LEGO would never make a tank nor would they make any modern day weapons

Great video, but it would be a real blast if you included subtitles with song names, that play in the back)
Shazam doesn’t always recognize them.
@@Zhukiv2009 oh I’m sorry! That’s a good idea
@@Chatter_Blocks Thank you in advance
Great video! I had several of these sets as a kid and just recently completed the collection. Curious, why the Uncharted soundtrack instead of Indiana Jones?😂
Great collection! I used Uncharted music because Indiana Jones music likely would have made the video taken down, but also because I LOVE uncharted, borderline love it more than Indiana Jones!
it’s so weird to me that there’s a pretty good ox figure in the Lego Indiana jones 2 game, but they never made him
I'll never forget when i dropped the russian guy out the car window (he was farting to power the car)
Jonny Thunder is better.
This is a 5/5 bob video
Was that uncharted music or am I tripping?
It was uncharted music haha
I will never understand why lego agreed to make this theme
It’s actually crazy. Indiana Jones goes against so many of LEGO’s values, so happy though that they did make it
20:52- 20:56 why would they obviously never make it?
@@JediJared-bs1wt LEGO is extremely anti making LEGO military, they can do trucks jeeps and planes because they can justify they aren’t only used for war, a tank however, is almost exclusively used for combat, therefor LEGO would never make a tank nor would they make any modern day weapons
Nope a French called Briquefan did it in 2016... You're not the first one
He never showed the 2023 sets, therefore it’s not a complete retrospective of Indiana Jones
@@Chatter_Blocks A'ight I didn't think about that
@@raphaeltouron9149hahaha! His video seemed crazy! Wish I could’ve understood it because it seemed wild!
Love that Peril in Peru came with Bruce Wayne, he's still my LEGO Bruce Wayne to this day 16 years later.
