Flashforge Creator Pro ABS Nozzle Cleaning

- Cleaning the Flashforge Creator Pro. Several months ago one of my extruders starting producing bad quality prints and eventually stopped working. The easy thing was to remove the gear assembly and clean the feeder gears. I completed that and still had print issues. The next step was to remove the nozzles and clean them with Acetone.
The video is my process of removing the nozzles and PTFE tubing, cleaning the nozzles, replacing the PTFE tubing and putting everything back together.
NOTE: I only use this printer for ABS, so there may be other more efficient ways of cleaning PLA. Acetone breaks down ABS very fast and seems to be the best way to clean ABS clogs and jams.
WARNING: Acetone is very flammable. Use in well ventilated areas.
Thanks for sharing, great idea sticking the allen wrench in between the heating elements to remove the nozzle, I've used pliers to hold it in place but it's hard to keep it tight while trying to loosen the extruder, specially when it's stuck.
Thanks man. I couldn't manage to get the left screw in though. Thanks though.
Thanks ☺️💐💐💐🙏🏻
very helpful, thanks for the help.
This is an excellent vid for a somewhat easy fix. However, I've yet to see a video that shows unclogging the heating element when you cannot extricate the PTFE tube. But then again, I always seem to have the "unusual" issue.
Thanks for sharing this video. I noticed you are not using the factory Flashforge printing bed. Which one are you using and does it work better than the original one?. I bought my printer some weeks ago and although the first prints were excellent, I've noticed some adhesion problems with the last ones. Even with PLA, heated bed and Elmer's glue. Considering changing the bed if the regular 3M blue tape doesn't do the trick.
If I had a pla clog would I do the same thing but instead of acetone would I use .3 mm drill bits to clean out the head?
+WolfGamerProHD I haven't really worked with PLA, but I heard of people using blow torches or using ABS to push the PLA out.
Just found your video tnx. Did you have to realign/calibrate the nozzles after reassembly?
I just had to level the bed.
What happens if you tear the orange covers on the heaters?
the insulating tape helps in hold the extruder temperature constant. (....I think)
What is the mm of the hallen key ?
Is it good at printing ABS models? Are there warps during print?
Yes it is very good at printing ABS once you have your setting dailed in...No warping
What settings are you using? I just can't get my ABS print to adhere correctly to the bed. I have the same printer.
Shao Kahn Ive used a couple different methods which have all worked very well. NOTE: all require the bed to be level method 1. use kapton tape with hairspray. method 2. level bed using a piece of paper the to get the correct spacing. Once thats done use the blue painter's tape and apply glue stick. Method 3. Use a glass bed, level it using paper for spacing and apply blue tape with glue stick. Heated bed: 110 c (1st layer) 100 c after. extruder: 230 c. Good luck and hope this helps.
Thanks Chad. I'm doing my research on trying glass beds. They don't need to be special glass right? Hope this fixes my problems! I printed yesterday my first Benchy (after using about 2 kg of filaments!) and it came perfectly, using a raft that is.
I just went to a glass shop and order a piece of glass to fit the bed. There are a couple of glass bed spacers on thingeverse
Is the acetone in nail polish strong enough? It looks like I can't avail pure acetone where I live because it's used for making meth so the government is kinda strict on its distribution.
