  • In this video a calibration procedure is discussed for the X and Y offset between nozzles on a Flashforge Dreamer.
    Download the calibration program from my website at:
    uptimefab.com/2016/09/05/nozzl...
    Let me know if you have any issues if you try this procedure.
    Good luck!

    Thanx! It worked very well.
    For info: After running the procedure I changed the calibration from X 34.5, Y 0.0 to X 34.0, Y-0.2 on my Flashforge Dreamer.
    I made some changes to the code to make it work better for me. I needed to add a 3mm z movement after each extrusion because I had a problem that the nozzles dragged off the already extruded lines when doing via movement. I also lowered both the extrusion speed and the movement speed, and changed the temperatures to match the ABS I used.

    Thanks for the video Robin, very informative. Can you tell me where you placed the paper shims as I don't fancy taking the head apart to level the nozzles. Thanks mate. Keep those videos coming.

      Hi Mick,
      I have never used shims to align the left and right nozzle in height. I have only leveled them when taking apart the extruder assembly. (The alignment was already pretty good before I started tweaking btw).

    Great video. Many thanks! Would this work with the creator pro 2017?

      Hi, thanks for commenting. As far as I know the creator pro only works with X3G files. So unless there is a way to convert a file back from X3G to G-code it will not work. Robin

      UptimeFab Many thanks. I don't suppose you know how I could do this with a creator pro? The nozzle arrangement is basically the same, so I'm keen to align them both better. Thank you ☺️

    Hi cool Video thanks much, but ive got one problem; On the left extruder ive got blackPLA and on Right extruder RedPLA, the black is exact 1mm out of the red, is this normal?

      Hi Tobias, This is unfortunate. Hopefully I can help to find a solution.I have just checked the coordinates in the program again and the X values for the longest line in the center are the same for both extruders. This would mean the program is not the cause for this offset. Did you write down the start values for X and Y in Flashprint under "on board preferences" before making any modifications? (assuming you have made changes to these offsets). If so, you could return to the initial values and start again. If not, you could adjust the X-offset in Flashprint with your measured offset and run the program again for fine tuning. Did you experience the 1 mm offset in dual color prints before performing this procedure?
      Hope this helps. Please let me know if you find the cause.

    i keep having issues with the filament sticking to the nozzle and either not sticking to the print base or pulling the work off the base. i would be very grateful for any suggestions if you have them

      Hi Spiro, this might be an issue for more people since this was also mentioned in mabs503's earlier comment below. Based upon his idea I have updated the file to include "z-hop", which basically raises the nozzle by a small distance to prevent the nozzles from scraping of printed lines. I have tested the file and it works fine. However, I did notice that the right nozzle is still passing over the first couple of lines from the x-alignment pattern. I would have to fully reorder the program the fix this. Unfortunately I do not have time today to rewrite and retest the program, but I hope the z-hop fix eliminates most of your problems. The post on my website (link in video description) is updated with the new rev2 program.
      By the way, I have tested the rev1 and rev2 programs multiple times and the lines never came off the bed, but I understand this program is very critical with regards to bed adhesion. I use buildTak and perform maintenance on it it from time to time by giving it a very light sanding with fine grit sand paper. (clean with IPA after sanding).
      Hope this helps for now. If I do end up further rewriting the program I will update the post.
      Good luck,
      Robin

    Ths flashforge dreamer just got reduced to 899 would you recommend it over the 799 creator pro?

    • @uptimefab7412
      @uptimefab7412  6 лет назад

      I can't speak to the print quality of the creator pro, but it usually gets good reviews, so I believe it is a good option. The reasons I chose the Dreamer over the Creator pro was the support for standard G-code, wifi and more modern interface. However, I think there are a lot of similarities between these printers and it would come down your personal preference.

    will it work with CTC 3d printer (clone of makerbot replicator duo)?

    • @uptimefab7412
      @uptimefab7412  7 лет назад

      Hi Sergejs, I am not sure if the CTC printer accepts standard G-code or if it requires the X3G file format. If the latter is the case it will not work, since I only have the file available in G-code format. (since I made the file manually in a text editor this is the only format I can generate).
      Hope this helps,
      Robin
