i mean, yeah but they've watched all of book 1 which is literally the whole live action season 1 - some events were just reordered but they make the most sense in the timeline.
Yeah but a lot of them aren’t exactly all that shocking or unpredictable. You can sort of see these coming or understand how they come about. I don’t think it’ll ruin the animation because they are two different things.
I don't agree. Everything in this 1st episode was already talked about in season 1 that they finished. There was no real spoiler at all other than them doing the flashbacks early.
in the beginning the reason the firebenders jetpacked is bc they were bending during the comet, making their firebending 10x stronger! And in the animated series, jetpacking was indeed a thing. Master Jeong Jeong and Azula did it
As much as I wanted to see Aang in the avatar state using water bending I get why they didn’t have him go into the avatar state during the ship scene because it looses impact and becomes repetitive if you have him go into the avatar state twice in one episode especially minutes apart. They picked the right moment for the avatar state. Having him go into the avatar state when he sees gyatso is the right moment as that is aang finally realizing that everyone he knew and loved is gone. seeing gyatso’s remains is that moment for Aang.
When Zuff asks regarding Iroh, "is he eating... something?" He's talking about Iroh eating roast duck. In the original when Zuko demands more advanced training, Iroh is responds, "very well... but first I must finish my roast duck".
This Netflix live action definetly has mild spoilers for you guys... From this episode so far, we get to know a bit about Sozin... and then that firebenders can "jet fly", that's not even in ATLA but later on...
From what I know about this live-action series, it has only covered the first book so far... also they're almost done reacting to the last few episodes anyway...
@ttack Yeahhh but there are... elements. I watched the live action up to ep8 and if they've really just watched book 1, there are spoilers. But are they spoilers? I'm genuinely questioning my statement while writing lol. Because they're set very differently here than in the cartoon so maybe it ain't really spoilers for the cartoon? Idk.
I think even though they cut out some fan favorite moments I think they were verrrry verrry smart with where they cut, changed, or combined things because they all had a purpose. My only complaint with the show is I wish Katara had more of a Katara energy and I wish that they gave things more time to breath so we could get more cute and funny wholesome moments that make the animation so sweet. They definitely do nail the heart and emotion as well as give us some funny and cute moments but I wish we got some more playful silly moments with the trio. Like penguin sledding for example.
26:26 I've been going off the assumption that they had to change it because noone in their right mind would believe that zukos ship wouldn't have sank with what they did to it 😅
I know it’s a bit different but honestly it feel SO well made that I’m not mad at all, I think this is gonna be a cool take on the original work and the bending effects look amazing.
My friend Michael Goi directed this. He is an amazing cinematographer I had the honor of hiring once and working with many times. And he's turned into one hell of a director as well!
I agree with others saying you should finish the animation first, I'm 4 episodes into the live action and they've moved some book 2 things in there. Like some characters that get revealed in book 2, and they even moved an episode from book 2 to the live action...
Agree with Katara! After watching 5 episodes, I still think she was the best cast. I also enjoy Sokka and Angs portrayal a lot. Sokka is actually funny, and not in a contrived way, and Ang physical apperance is spot on, especially when he laughs/smiles. I like Angs acting too, but it is the most "off" from the original series. I think that is a choice for the plot though, and Ang has grown on me every episode. I really liked the opening, and that they decided to start with showing Angs origin instead of just showing glimpses in flashbacks. It also gave the opportunity for Atla fans to see a chapter that was never shown to us, airbenders fighting/defending. I also got an answer about Angs markings that I dont think was ever explained in the original.
im happy with it ik a lot of people didn’t like some of the changes to the story but I think its nice so it can be a bit unexpected and new but still familiar
its more like a remix but honestly its fun to see how a few things are changing and how it will affect the story a little bit like the whole tone shift from the start made me focus so hard and while there were some parts that should have been there its really ok
Gordon Cormier as Aang, there is no doubt about it, he is Aang!!!!! He truly captured the essence and the adorable goofiness that the movie never shows
So glad y’all are enjoying it for what it is and not being so stiff about the differences. It’s an adaptation. There are many many limitations that live action has compared to animation, and many people don’t get that. It’s kinda like how I still like and enjoy the Harry Potter films even tho it’s very different from the books.
Oh guys I think you should finsih the animated series first, you'll enjoy it so much more, plssss consider it, we all will happily wait, thre's no rush on posting just jet. That aside... I ATE this show up, it satisfied my little girl inside, reminded me of how I used to watch the og series when I was younger. Yes the show feels a little bit rushed at times (if you know the timeline/watched the cartoon)but they had to adapt a loooong show into 8 episodes, so makes sense. I LOVED this first season, can't wait for season 2, I need it already! Hope you guys like it as much as us og fans of the cartoon!
Hi there. I think there are a few that did not get this part. It ties to the main scene with Sozin. The informant running at the start scene was carrying plans of the Fire Nation claiming they wanted to invade the Earth Kingdom. The scroll the informant toss to the guy on the Ostrich horse. This was the knowledge that the Air Nomads got most likely word of mouth pass and the news reached the Air Nomads. So the Air Nomads were talking about the impending attack on Earth Kingdom which was why they were rushing Aang to master the element bending disciplines. However apart from the Fire Lord, dead informant and sages in Fire Lord war room, no one knew it was a red hearring. A devious ploy to distract people. So while everyone is busy looking and gathering forces to help the Earth Kingdom, no one will come to aid and hear the cries of the Airbenders when Sozin ambush them with ease under the power of the comet. Sozin knows that Air Nomads are pacifist and have no army so it will be easy to take them out By the time anyone realises it will be too late.
You guys should react to the movie adaptation and make another drinking game out of it like you did with The Room, I think it’d be a very entertaining watch! Having binged the show yesterday, it’s definitely very interesting. I did like some of the changes and amalgamations of story lines and questioned others. Some dialogue that’s straight from the show is enough to make you roll your eyes, but overall is quite decent. I’m not going to shit on the actors because they’re children, I think it’s hard to watch something that you already have a high expectation for when presented in a different medium.
Soooooo much better than the movie the bending looks GOOD people will always have some to complain about but they actually put some effort into this one.
My main complaint about the live action is I don’t feel the “heart” of the show anymore. Hopefully season 2 gives us a funnier sokka, more emotional Katara, and a goofier aang
This show is pretty good by itself, you don’t need to compare it to the original show, like, definitely it’s nowhere the original which isn’t supposed to be, but definitely miles better than the movie (that doesn’t exist). I hope you enjoy it as much as i did! Overall 7.5/10!
@@paulbrown9328Well, some characters aren't introduced in the animation until season 2 and the cave of two lovers is a season 2 episode, but it's already in the live action, so there's definitely some spoilers and I'm only on episode 4

I really liked this! Sure, some changes I wasn’t the biggest fan of, but I don’t think this deserves some of the hate it’s received. If we don’t get a second season I will be pissed!
Wait. I just realized. They completely skipped over zuko's mom when they created this show. Like where is she in this season? SHe's not in the flash backs and zuko and ozai don't really mention her which is even more weird when you consider the fact that they are giving ozai a lot more emotion.
I don't think they're mad they're enjoying it, I think since they're still working their way through the animated series, people are worried about the spoilers the live action might have.
Aang would have been killed. He did not know any element but air and had never had to fight offensively before. Even with the avatar state, he wouldn't have stood a chance against a fire nation army during the comet.

Honestly this show's fantastic visuals are used to mask that this show is mid with the way they do things. Speeding things up, completely skipping things, and the acting for most is mid too.
