It’s pretty obvious to tell that what he’s doing is extremely difficult but for the people who play uke you REALLY know that this kid is an absolute prodigy.
+Bình Nguyễn Placing Led Zeppelin above Hendrix or Sungha above Hendrix is just ridiculous. You can like one more than the other, but you said "level of skill", so you have no excuse
its called playing by ear not many people have the talent to do so they have to either look up tabs online or chords either or; but it also takes practice lots of practice to play by ear
picked up a ukelele the other day and started looking for music on youtube that I could start out with... saw this, surrendered, and have returned to cello...
Holy crap! Best cover of this I've heard. There's only four fricken strings and he tore my heart out. And, without the words. Some people just are the music.
248 people who obviously can't recognize talent. Or are just so jealous to the point of dislike. Man you have an amazing gift. Keep up the awesome work!
Well as i am an asian, i guess the comment is saying being asian itself cannot be generalized to be smart. If someone (or Sungha) is asian or not is just his or her race, not meaning the one is smart 'because' his skin color is yellow. Worshipping is also the kind of discrimination.
Thank you! Nowadays if an Asian does something cool all we do is say "cuz he's Asian", and when they're white or black we think they are God or something.

Amazing work. What a talent. I have a doubt, hope somebody clears it for me. I am unfamiliar with this type of music that's why. Along with what he plays, there is another rhythm that plays along with it, if you listen closely. Is somebody in the background also playing along with him? Gokul Kumar, it's poly-rhythmic, the trick is in his right hand strumming pattern. Strumming while plucking gives him the ability to sustain a chord behind melody, it's a common (albeit hard to manage) technique
i've also noticed that kinda, ive seen him sit on 3-4 different couches. he could have them in a few different places in his house. like one in his loft area if he has one maybe one in his room or in his living room. it just depends on how he has his house set up.
as of today 2/5/15, 408 disarrayed people who had access to a computer. I'm a 60s,70s, and 80s music type of guy and don't listen to too much of the music of today. Maybe 1 or 2 songs per year at best, I might like. This is one of them. I liked the song, the lyrics, the music video, and I like the cover with the ukulele that this master musician has posted. And just like you, I wonder how could anyone who appreciates music could ever press the dislike button. I just can't believe it.
Maksuda Islam Lima usually guitar have 6 strings and are larger than ukelele(have 4 strings) and the tuning of the two instruments are different and that the playstyle aslo differs

Something that annoys me is "Talent". He's is not talented. He is extremely dedicated and hard working. The word talent is demeaning. It implies he was born with this skill that he's clearly invested thousands of hours into. Cue the Asian comments..... Nobody is born talented.
Actually he is talented... You must not have ever put together a tab of any sort, it takes a very good ear, and yes true a lot of practice, but also talent. You can't just say I wanna play the flute or in this case a guitar and learn how to play it in a couple of years. I am 16 and he is better than I can ever be, it is talent no matter how you look at it. Even if I practiced for 100 years and say I did get as good as he did, he still did it faster than me, so he technically has a talent for learning or understanding.
Hotdogguy14 he stayed playing guitar when he was 2-4, I can't be sure exactly. There are videos of him at an extremely young age playing elaborate pieces of music. At such a young age, your learning rate is accelerated exponentially so he was able to grasp difficult techniques easier as he grew up with a lot of practice and a strong grounding in guitar. People use the word talent as an excuse for their lack of effort. Many people that watch him play will say he is talented and things like "I wish I was as good as he is". You can be. When I watch people like sungha jung, Tommy emmanuel, zakk wylde and many other incredible guitarists, I don't see an impossible piece to play, jealousy plays only a small role but I see what you can achieve. It's done through a hell of a lot of hard work though. Of course he is talented but talent plays such a miniscule role in the amount of time he has invested into playing guitar. It's demeaning to the work he has done.
Rob Donnelly yes like when you said intelligence and relation with knowledge i think it s working who making the 90 percent of the whole thing, the 10 last per cent it s what make difference at high levels
They are a form of musical notation that tells you what place to press your fingers on the frets instead of musical notes that tell you what pitch/note to play. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong?) Hope that helped in some sort of way xD
Sungha - The first Korean name I have ever taken the time to memorize! In his book Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell theorizes that people who show truly amazing skill have usually put 10,000 hours or more towards the development of that skill. My guess is that Sungha Jung has had a guitar or ukulele in hands for at least 20,000 hours. Amazing only begins to describe this.
He´s just sooo amazing! I´ve been watching this incredible guy since he has appeared on RUclips and I must say I just love him! so much talented boy ) ♥

6 people on one ukulele. v=BluOKxCvb1I

Maybe because he's using the spider fingers technique
He's the friendly neighborhood
Great sound, could listen to him all day!

Along with what he plays, there is another rhythm that plays along with it, if you listen closely. Is somebody in the background also playing along with him? Or did he prerecord all the background stuff and in this take he is playing with that recording?
It's a percussive style, it's recorded in one shot.
All the chorus parts, for example, 1:45 - 2:15 . It seems to me that he only plays the chords in these parts. I can't see how he is playing the notes of the vocals in those parts. Can you please explain to me what is happening there?
You are right, seems that there is another track there
the highest note of the chords is the melody
Gokul Kumar, it's poly-rhythmic, the trick is in his right hand strumming pattern. Strumming while plucking gives him the ability to sustain a chord behind melody, it's a common (albeit hard to manage) technique
UNBELIEVABLE. So much talent!
