It’s easy to get carried away with showing off that you have Waku Waku 7 and Matrimelee in the multi slot with Sam Sho V Perfect on your NeoSD Pro and Ganryu in there too for good measure. Definitely worth thinking about what people who don’t know or care about this stuff would really enjoy as an introduction. Good list!! Nightmare in the Dark would be a good one too, I think. Looks great. Gameplay is simple and intuitive after a minute. Two button control system. Difficulty curve isn’t too severe... Lastly, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again... MS2>MSX. Scientific fact.
Nightmare in the Dark makes my October lineup! I throw that in with House of the Dead in the Virtua Cop machine. Darkstalkers on the CPS2. Probably weird I have seasonal lineups but, well, I do.
@@ScarletSprites nope, totally agree!! If fun to have seasonal stuff, makes if feel more special somehow. I do play a lot of NITD year round though, it’s a favourite and I’m chasing the 1cc.
Windjammers, by far, is one of my favorite party games and is so much better with friends than solo. It's just so easy to pick up and get right into it. Controls are complex enough that it's still interesting, learning how to curve the disk, when to drop a lob, but not so crazy with moves and combos that it loses people. It's one of the games on the list that, in my opinion, is significantly better in two player than solo.
Games that I use to rotate in my cab that resonated with everyone: Windjammers, Street Hoops, Magical Drop, Puzzle Bobble, Super Sidekicks 4, League Bowling, Turf Masters, Metal Slug X. League Bowling like you say is an outlier. Waku or MOTW if it was up to fighters.
Yeah I like Spinmaster/Miracle Adventure as well. I did a playthrough of that a few years ago and even got the good ending. I did try to make a friend play that once and he asked why I didn’t have Metal Slug any more. 🤦🏼♂️
Nice. I remember many years ago, my mother had the Gameboy for the entire weekend. She really liked Tetris, and was enjoying the game. We wanted to spend time with the Gameboy, but were happy that she'd found something she liked and could relate to. Watching casuals playing, discussing amongst themselves ( in their own language ) It never gets old. I stand well back. It's their enjoyment.
My mom played two games her entire life; Wizard of Wor and Tetris on the GameBoy. She would often just pick it up and play. Definitely an addictive mainstream title. Not sure I’ve seen anything THAT powerful since tbh. Maybe Candycrush if you count cell phone games.
A lot of people I’ve met over the years who aren’t necessarily gamers seem to have a connection to Puzzle Bobble / Bust a Move . I wasn’t a big fan of it back in the day, but I’ve grown to appreciate it quite a bit. This is a great list though. I’ve owned an AES for years now but now that I’ve got a MVS 2 slot cabinet I will absolutely be loading some of these games on there . Metal Slug and Puzzle Bobble are what’s currently loaded up , but I’ll be rotating those out eventually for some of the games on this list , plus World Heroes
Same. I really mean that when I say it’s a top 5 game. Like you said, could even be #1. I never get tired of it and it’s very addicting. Oddly I’ve liked a lot of golf games but don’t seem to love actually playing golf as much as most people do.
I agree with all of your choices, they are fun and interactive games to play with friends. Although most of my friends prefer the fighting genre, they are very familiar with the Neo Geo titles and like to switch it up every now and then. For this reason and this reason only, I own an MVS Neo SD Pro. This allows me to switch games on the fly conveniently without having to turn off the cab and remove and insert carts. This is what I have on slot 1 currently. The rest is as follows, slot 2 Shock Troopers, slot 3 Breakers Revenge and slot 4 Blazing Stars.
Breakers Revenge is so much more fun than I ever expected it to be. I’m glad that I was able to get deeper into the catalog and experience that game because I probably never would have otherwise.
Fantastic list! The only games not in your list that my friends ask for over and over are Spin Master, Aero Fighters 2, Blazing Star, and... Fatal Fury?! Just like with Metal Slug, I'm very certain most people don't realize there are sequels.
Spinmaster is another fun game. I don’t know that it’s ever been in the cabinet when people have been over. I’ve played a few games of Blazing Star with friends and I can’t quite tell if they like it as much as I do.

All of these are excellent games in co-op, and you're absolutely right about the sports games for Neo Geo being excellent for casuals and friends looking for quick but satisfying action. Neo Geo is one of the few platforms that I could sit down with and enjoy a sports game, its the farthest from Madden or 2K as you can get. I'd like to give a brief shoutout to one title I feel is also an awesome co-op game and that is Top Hunter. I had some friends come over and play that game on my NGCD some time ago and they were hooked almost immediately. Not too difficult but plenty of fun. I would also say Sengoku 2 is a good one, but I guess it depends on peoples taste in beat em ups. Me and another friend played through Mutation Nation together and we were having a blast.
Top Hunter is a lot of fun! It’s such a deviation from so many of the other genres and games you find on Neo Geo. I have a flyer for it hanging in my one room. I owned that game on CD for a while before I had my MVS.
@@ScarletSprites Nice to see someone who appreciates Top Hunter. Most others ignore it entirely. That flyer must be a really nice addition to your setup. :)

I'm actually surprised that Street Slam isn't on this list! That used to get a lot of play from the casuals back in the day when I was in college when the fighting game heads weren't playing KOF on the campus Neo Geo cab.

Great video Scarlet. OMG I’m sooo late to the party when it comes to your store. I would love to support you. Any idea when those beautiful stickers & coffee mug will be back in stock? I really need to purchase some of those stickers to put on my Neo Geo wall.
Oh man, I didn’t know they were out. Usually you can click the link and on my banner and grab whatever.
snk vs cap com chaos / metal slug 3 / last resort / shock troopers 2 / samsho 2
The Japanese Super Dodge ball isn’t bad either
I played that a lot when I first got it. I never really introduced it to any friends though. I’d be curious to see what they think of it.
Can’t really argue with your list tbh, although I’ve also found Ninja Commando to be a multiplayer hit with those not really ‘into’ retro gaming or familiar with Neo Geo games.
On a side note, I’m still convinced (but not sure for certain) if the “On the green’’ lady in Neo Turf Masters is the same person as the “Bonus!” One in Blazing Star?! ...Any idea yourself? 🤔🤷🏻♂️
Haha, I remember you mentioning that a while back. I have no idea if it’s the same person or not. I am a sucker for Ninja Commando as well. It’s not a great game by any stretch but it really delivers if you’re in the need of some all out nonsense.
Kof...Slug...windjammers..adults..childrens..noobs...immediate fun.
Right, the main franchises are franchises for a reason.
SNK vs Capcom SVC Chaos was like a 48 meg cart on the snes.
$199.99 retail
Windjammers jams!
Always a good time.
I dig it 🤘
Thanks Frank.
Neo Turf Masters. It’s the king & so much fun for two players.
It’s such a classic never-get-tired-of-it game.
One of my faves. The colors are so great on that game
@@ScarletSprites I still play it every other day, either handheld (GPD XD+), or desktop (Nebula) or original hardware on my MV1FZ. I just love it.
Cool list thanks
Thanks for stopping by man.
Number one Snk vs Capcom XD just use Earthquake Fart attacks
That is certainly another option.
I just came here to see your fresh new haircut 💇♂️
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m fine with whatever people come to see. I don’t even care any more.
@@ScarletSprites I’m right there with you man. On a side note, this was a really useful video. I’m always trying to introduce Kim to games I think she might like. She likes video games but she’s very “specific”. Sometimes things I think she will love, fall short. Now I have 10 chances, I will let you know how it goes. She hasn’t been introduced to the Neo Geo yet.
I like Top Players Golf....portable
I’m glad you picked Samurai Shodown II, it’s my favorite of the series. Also, I’m glad you gave NAM 1975 some love. It’s so accessible and fun.
It’s hard for me to not look at Nam without rose colored glasses. It was one of the first games I recall playing on the Neo in the arcade. Even though the concept was familiar it just felt “better” at the time.
People who don't like Windjammers are just plain wrong. About everything.
Haha, it’s weird the animosity it gets sometimes too. It’s such a classic though!
The only people who don't like WINDJAMMERS are people without friends.
Watched this again. This video is basically like....100% "good takes" on the system. Nothing to disagree with here at all.
Thanks man, I think most people would enjoy playing these coop. It was a weird idea for a video but given that friends are starting to visit again it seemed appropriate.
🤦♂️
Last Resort

I didn't know JoJo liked to play golf.
