    I'm 59 years old. Pure maths was not explained with this kind of clear and step like explaination those days. You just made me feel like a 17 old again. Thank you😊

      @@saadsohail4690 Bruh you really didn't understand what he said? This brought him back to his formative years because these things should be learned then. However, his teachers didn't teach well so he didn't grasp this concepts. Now that the man in the video has explained it well it brought him back to when he was younger. Stop trying to disagree just so you can feel better about yourself. It makes you look like a fool.

    I enjoy re-learning algebra after a 60 year hiatus. When the political landscape gets so toxic, I can't take any more, I find solace in the certainty and purity of math. You are a good teacher, and it's all starting to come back now. Plus I like the flexibility of the tablet presentation over many others I have seen. Thank you!

      If you had a 60 year hiatus from algebra, what does that tell you about the importance of algebra other than a job for a teacher? They kept telling us "You'll need this some day." But somehow we had a good life without it.

      Im 11 :') our school teaches us barely anything useful and then they send us to highschool expecting everyone to know all of this, So i have to teach myself since highschool is in 6 months '3' Barely anyone in my class can even spell

    I encountered this formula for solving quadratic functions over fifty years ago in school. It was so drummed into me for memorization, that I can recite it to this day.

    Thank you. Great refresher. I made it to Calculus 2 in university but really have not used math even close to that level ever since (40 years ago). I had forgotten how to solve a quadratic equation. Retired now, enjoy puzzles and really enjoy your channel. Many thanks for this extremely well done video.

    Again another superb presentation. Good maths teachers take it "slow" and repeat certain steps to get the abstract concepts across to the student. These short videos are wonderful tools for anyone interested in maths, or needs revision at basic levels. Thank you again for the deliberate stressing of important points like using brackets and signs.

    Great video, I, as an adult tried and tried to handle that formula, and more often than not, I came up woth wrong answers. I always got to the end part, but, that is where I lost it. Now I know what to do in future. I did that problem, and, as usual, lost it at very end. I square rooted the 64,,,, then divided the 8 by the 2, came up with X = 6 or X = -2. (not that it does me any good, I am just interested in maths as a past time to keep the 74 yr old brain active. Thanks

    my teacher is a crazy math wiz and moves way to fast, i am studying for respiratory therapy and have...HAVE to pass my math class. this helped me a lot on this subject and i hope you cover more that we go over in class that way i have a chance at understanding....THANK YOU SOOOO FREAKING MUCH!!!!

    Excellent explanation. Wonderful, neat & professional video. And like the comments below, you explained clearly in 20 minutes what I missed in 2 inclusion class periods due to duties elsewhere. I was following along with my Ti-Inspire software and was frustrated by the errors in typing in the wrong signs. Thanks to your clear & concise steps I was able to correct and follow to the correct conclusions. Bookmarked for Texas STAAR prep coming up in a few weeks. Thanks a bunch.

    I understand now. If the middle is negative then we use the quadratic because it can be either one. I wish my teacher explained that better to me. I'm over 45 but I love math. I was watching this video because my friends and I were discussing trig and then I remembered that formula name but I had no clue what the formula was or what it was used for. Haven't done it in over 25 years.

    Probably not seeing this but this literally saved me i just switched schools from a school that was really bad so i was already halfway through algebra 2 without even knowing this formula and i had to catch up and this video possibly saved me

    I think I have different way to solve these that would equally to zero. Or i find out what is my _b +minus and inside the square root. I have to know what is _b Square + minus 4a × c÷ by 2a x should be square as one which is my a the square root of 1 is 1 because 1* 1 is = to 1 which is my a my _ b + minus and do my mutiply 4 × C over 2a. I cannot do all in my phone I need paper to do all my explanations because this is a long problems to solve so far and so good. Aw media is so great to explained. You sound like my great professor in class. I am going to missed him this short break we had for school because of corona. Thanks a lot to media to work out this things for us.

    Thanks dude, I just used this to solve for t (time) in the d=V0t+1/2at^2 equation...just like you said, I screwed it up in replacing the a,b,c values. Put them in correctly and got the right t.

    I suggest that one more step be taken and plug the two solutions for "x" back in the function to prove the answers. Also that since roots of the function were mentioned, a couple of minutes be devoted as well as to what a root of a function is.

    Hi Aleks, your approach of maths makes it easier to understand, good points for that. What is a bit chaotic however is your perception of time. So far after watching a number of your explanations you never seem to be able to do it in the spacetime or should I say timespace you estimated. When you say « in 10 minutes », does this mean « 10 minutes » or « at least 10 minutes »?

    The Quadratic Formula: To the tune of Row, Row, Row, Your Boat: x equals minus b plus or minus the square root of b squared minus 4ac ALL over 2a. Don't forget ALL over 2a. The minus b is also over the 2a.

    My modified formula with xtop = -b/2a D = b²-4ac and delta = SQR(D) / 2a :
    x = xtop PLUS/MINUS delta

    Multiplying both sides of the original equation by -1, shouldn't change the equation. Does that yield different solutions?
