Personally not a fan of esim as it doesn't serve much purpose to me as I can use my phone as a hot spot for my devices as well. Not sure as to why it may be saying that, it could be related to the area you're in or I would also check with the service provider.
Cool features, thanks for brief overview. Can you show how BMW navigation support detour when there's a traffic jam on my route so I want a 5,10,15 etc km detour?
Great vehicle, im a big fan of the 330 as I use to own one as well, I would say one of the best balanced BMWs. We don't have the touring option here, but if you feel you would need the additional space, I would opt in for it. I would also recommend the LCI as you mentioned since it has the newer software.
If you're using Google Maps (or a similar app) navigation on Android Auto, will the car also show directions from Google Maps on the HUD display? (by the way, the fact that they only update BMW maps every 3 months or so is a dealbreaker for me. With new roads being built all the time, and old ones being upgraded or repaired, in-built sat navs in cars will always be lagging behind phone navigation aps that have access to the latest maps at all times.
Thanks for the great video. I have a question. In system version 8,5 is there any option during navigation that we can have in the main screen on the map the distance to the next turning point? (now I can only have the distance to final destination, but not to the next turn as in previous versions). Thank you.
The best way to accomplish this would be not on the main screen but the instrument cluster. You can change the content on the instrument cluster to the one that looks like a compass, and when you use the navigation it should show you the turn by turn directions pop up.
Is there a turn by turn overview? Sometimes I find it easier to just read that list as opposed to reading a graphical map. Also is there a way to get “cross street” info? Mazda does this. As you’re traveling down a main road the, the name of the upcoming cross street is displayed up top.
Been thinking about going for a bmw as my first car. My budget isnt too crazy (under 20k) so Im not sure what to avoid model & millege wise. Any suggestions would be appreciated
Hi, I have a question. I remember you mentioned about not touching your car when having a remote software upgrade. I just want to make sure I didn't "brick" my car lol. I was a bit new to this. I turned on the remote software upgrade and then I think I have stopped it or did something because I forgot something in the car but yea. After that I locked and unlocked a few times to see if the car would lock and then I realized the security system is disabled during that and then let it be. I just want to make sure I'm not screwing up anything or lost any engine power. But it seems like I didn't have any issues after. So is my car perfectly fine?
You should be fine. If it was anything major you would definitely know or the vehicle wouldn't work at all. You may have also disable the motion detector which you can do if you double click the lock button on the key fob, this is useful if there is a pet in the car. Other than that you should be fine, no worries.
In the latest update, BMW navigation has changed. Will you be doing an updated video? Also, maybe demo adding a stop? On the EV it has odd SOC for each stop that aren’t clear what they mean. Would love it if you cleared that up. Thanks
Sure! Yes they did make some updates to it. I'll plan on doing another updated EV tutorial and mention how to use the BMW GPS to cover those questions.
@@BeamerView Awesome! Thanks. (The thing I haven't mastered, or even come to understand really, is how the system updates when you add a Stop. You get the odd percentages after each stop. Seems to imply to charge to that level? Not clear at all). I'm really trying to understand a roadtrip, finding chargers, adding them as stops, know how much charge I need to add, and so on.
When you're in the NAV screen, you should see a option somewhere in the corner giving you the option to do a split screen, you can change what you see in the split screen to "route preview" and that should show you the next turn/s exits. Keep in mind that it'll only show this info when you're actively using the navigation. You can also have "route previews" show up on your instrument cluster by changing the content.
I been searching high and low to see if there is a way to import gpx, and/or other format, route files into the BMW navigation system so I can download per-planned routes that contain multiple waypoints versus just a single destination point. That way I have turn-by-turn instructions for whole route. My Harley-Davidson does this well. I would think with all of the technology in BMW vehicles, they would support this simple feature/function.
Thanks for the videos. I have a question. When I input my home address in as my home destination, the location is a street over. Is there a way to choose my current location as my home address instead of typing in the address? Thanks
I dont think it shows on the center display, but if you have the map content shown on your instrument cluster, you should be able to see street names on the bottom middle of the instrument cluster.
I have a video on the channel that explains it live, search for "drivers assistance professional" and it should pop up, it goes over the different modes, how to use it, and when to use it, etc.
Uggh the new touch interfaced is terrible. I despise it. Horribly complex and if you are driving it’s fundamentally dangerous. Have not found a way of using the BMW assistant while also using Siri for CarPlay. Please BMW make it stop. Also notice how badly implemented the screen is. Looking straight ahead the bottom right controls on the screen are behind the wheel. Just the worse. I love the way my X7 drives but if they can’t implement a more sensible interface that is not all touch screen I’m likely to move to something else.
I get really annoyed that it’s so easy to cancel a plan…for EVs you need to tell it about the planned charging points on the way so it preheats…but it’s way too easy to cancel the plan. And if you swap users at a charge point: new driver, so new route. We’ve just filled in both drivers with our main charge points and just head to them, rather than a detailed plan. I’ve asked on the ABRP EV rapping app for it to push the next destination to the car -there is a way in CarPlay to do this and it’d let us use a more powerful nav tool but still have the car know where it is going
Also not too much of a fan of the touch screen. Agreed Voice commands are the way to go to control the vehicle though, if you haven't already, you can setup Hello BWM in the personal assistant settings to use that to control the car. You can also say hey siri to control the phone and make phone calls. Not sure if you already know, but on the voice command button on the wheel, you can press once for BMW voice command or, press and hold for Siri
@@BeamerView Thanks. The voice assistant does not seem to like my accent. I’ve also there are many times when folks are asleep in the car and talking is…..not ideal. My main issue is that feedback from customers on these touch interfaces is terrible but we’re being ignored. I had a call with BMW customer support and they said overall feedback is bad but all the new designs seem to be doubling down. Touchscreens are wonderful on phones. Terrible in cars.
We have owned five or six different BMWs our latest one is a 2023 430 I convertible. Bmw has the most annoying navigation in any vehicle I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned plenty of them. My Ford bronco the navigation is a piece of cake to work with, Bmw is aggravating as hell to use. try to end the destination you gotta tell it five different times to end the damn thing, their system is horrible.

can you show bmw navigation running on the heads up display would really be informative
Esim doesn't seem to connect often, and the system often says its unavailable any thoughts? Is this common?
Personally not a fan of esim as it doesn't serve much purpose to me as I can use my phone as a hot spot for my devices as well. Not sure as to why it may be saying that, it could be related to the area you're in or I would also check with the service provider.

Cool features, thanks for brief overview. Can you show how BMW navigation support detour when there's a traffic jam on my route so I want a 5,10,15 etc km detour?
Will have to test this one out when I get my new BMW, I have yet to encounter a detour around where I live.
Hi From belgium , nice content , i have question, what's your opinion about the BMW 330E touring LCI ? thanks

Is there an option for a Satelite view at all? Unlike Audi, this does not seem possible on either screens. Thanks.
There is not unfortunately. Even in the newest models its not a thing. My best source for this would be to use google maps instead.
Outstanding tips!
Thanks for watching!

I would opt for a pre-owned 3 series, those tend to be quite reliable as they get older and are the most bang for the buck.
Can the AR navigation arrow be projected in the head up display in System 8 or 8.5 used in X7? Both Merc and Audi have that feature.
It cannot unfortunately.

Really miss the iDrive wheel for zoom in and out as the “adaptive” doesn’t always make the right decision.
Yes it can be a hit or a miss, I personally use the 3rd party apps and would only opt in for the bmw maps if I had a head's up display!
I never hear you talk about security features…are the new bmw really protected or should we by aftermarket security
Theres a video on the channel already about all the safety/security features
@@BeamerView I was looking and didn’t see anything about security. Wondering how easy is it for someone to make a new key 🔑 to the 2024 or 2025 models
Is there a way to have a beep sound when you get to an exit or a turn. I just came from a road trip and could not find how to turn that option on.
There is not an option for that on BMWs unfortunately, you would just have to rely on the navigation voice to let you know that.
I have a 2024 m3 competition. How do you make m1/m2 buttons automatically change the gauge cluster to sport mode?
This is a feature that I wish would be possible! I have a 25 M4 and wish we were able to do that but its not possible at this time =/
to view your next exit what setting does it need to be on

I would try to do a map update, BMW maps aren't the best when it comes to being accurate, but I do believe overtime the updates correct the mistakes.
@@BeamerView thank you I will try that
BMW navigation I tried it in town, it takes you the longest way possible to get to your destination, I prefer Waze.
Agreed, my favorite is google maps.
How do you add stops? I have the 2024 i4 and I can’t figure out how to add additional stops to my map route
Try adding a new destination and it should prompt you if you want to set it as the new destination or add it as a stop.
@@BeamerView I’ll check that out. For now I am able to add stops on the app and then I send the route to my car
Thanks! When I go to nav, I get a full screen map, how do I get those sidebars? Thanks.
I am in same boat. Anybody answer how to get sidebars ?
When using Waze, it doesn’t show in the HUD. Is there a setting to make this happen?
Unfortunately not available. Only for the BMW Maps, and some functionality with either Apple Maps or Google Maps if you have android.
Is it possible to display street names on the map in the dashboard?
I dont think it shows on the center display, but if you have the map content shown on your instrument cluster, you should be able to see street names on the bottom middle of the instrument cluster.
How do you reset the default country in iDrive 7? I got a import and the default map is set to the UK which I need to change.
You may have to call BMW Assist on that one. They may be able to change the setting remotely.
How can I reset BMW Maps on my 2022 X3 M40i?
How to use adaptive cruise control? I can't figure it out, there is no information on the Internet
It should be in the owners manual.
I have a video on the channel that explains it live, search for "drivers assistance professional" and it should pop up, it goes over the different modes, how to use it, and when to use it, etc.
I own BMW X7, 2023 model in saudi Arabia, but BMW navigation doesn’t show any locations in Saudi Arabia
Oh I see, I would recommend just using google maps, etc. They would work better anyway.
