In one of your previous video, you mentioned having an automation that automatically opens Waze in CarPlay when you start the car. Could you create a tutorial for that?
Thank you. Your video helped me already!! The hardest part for me has been figuring out "where" my selector is. If from where I am I need to go up, down, left or right. Basically which part if selected at the moment... has been hard for me to tell. It's not really highlighted (or is it?)
Do you have some kind of protection film on your center console panel buttons? I installed some but yours look super clean finish... or even oem. Guess your buttons just come like that but if not would appreciate where you got the cover/protection film or so.
No film at all on the console, I think they only thing close to it that I got done was ceramic coat for the entire interior of the vehicle. Other than that it's OEM.
I owned an Audi before I got my BMW with the controller and the same software screen as you have. I reckon Audis then hand controller was a match for the BMW version, although now Audi have got rid of it, which I think is a mistake on their part. The one thing that the Audi software now allows you to do which BMWs does not is to spell out a whole word without having to individually write in each letter. It would be nice if BMW had the same software
The iDrive controller and the number of physical buttons were one of the reasons I chose the BMW. Please don't get rid of it. I can do so much just by feel after having the car for a short time. Keeps my eyes on the road. Though I wish they allowed the touch pad to do more and to work while the car is in motion.
Hi BeamerView. Have been watching and listening to your help for a good while, but do not think I have ever seen or heard you speak about audio playing. Perhaps the reason for this being me doing something which is not supposed to work. I am talking about using the screen manually, and pressing to allow you to see a new screen of the audio length. You can then forward tap the screen to fast forward or fast back. My question being is this, correct ( my 530d and my present X5 both allow this but it " glitches " to get the screen changed, once changed it is very effective. Is there a more specific point on the screen I should touch? Thanking you in anticipation.
I bpight my 430d s sport a few mounths ago trading it on for a golf r soon the bmw nice to drive and plenty of poke . But i always wsnted a golf r it look cool imo😊
The iDrive controller is one of the best parts of my X5 (G05 LCI). Between that and voice control, l rarely touch the screen. The feel and weight of the iDrive controller has always been great, especially with glass controls. Sadly, I recently had an i5 loaner and the iDrive controller in that is a mess. It feels off and the tilt feel is notchy and unpleasant. Even the rotation detents feel awful. hope they don’t put that cheap, plastic mess in all their cars.
Diese ganzen News sind alle alt, das ist eine alte Software, die auf dem Fahrzeug installiert ist. Sieht mittlerweile anders aus und ist leichter umzusetzen.
If BMW get rid of the i drive wheel, they will lose more BMW customers than they can handle! They are already struggling with sales, and changes to Connected services have pissed off a ton of long time customers!! Fact!
Great review. I have been driving BMWs for 10 years, but always learn something new watching your videos, like writing on the iDrive controller.
You are never too experienced to learn something new!

Sure, just added that one to the list, or bumped it up at least =)
Can you do the same and show the controller working with CarPlay. Thanks
Yes - please do and how to get Waze to show up in the driver's display and HUD...thanks,
You got it!
Is this: "BMW X3 Course," the new course you've been talking about?
Not yet, still the older one, it's been a crazy Q4 for the team, still working on it!
@@BeamerViewthanks, looking forward to it.

That part will kinda come down to practice, you would just get a feel for it by moving the rotation to see where you are then tilt accordingly.
I wish the idrivr controller would work with the climate control
Agreed, hopefully they make it so through software updates in the future.

Good point, it would be nice if they added that feature in.

Agreed the new style ones seem a little too narrow and hard to tilt or makes it feel awkward when doing so.
I have a new 25 x5 and my screen doesn’t look anything like yours
I believe that is iDrive 9. We have iDrive 8.5
This ones a M Competition vehicle so they come looking different.
This ones a M Competition vehicle so they come looking different. Still is tenically still considered 8.5 though.
So, any BMW enthusiast will tell you that “Beamer” refers to BMW motorcycles, “BIMMER”, is how you refer to their automobiles.
You know it!
Keep the iDrive controller!
Agreed!!

Don’t even have to finish the video to let you know that bmw should keep the idrive knob
So that we can slob on that knob?
Facts!

Yup good point there.
My X2 his the controller
Nice you may have one of the last generation ones!
