Very good and honest review...I just got my 2025 X5 50e PHEV 2 weeks ago. I ordered every option except heated rear seats and front massage seats...(I did not have an option to order heated and cooled cup holders though...). This is the most sophisticated BMW I have ever had (traded a 2019 BMW X6M on it). Quite frankly, the finest car I have ever now owned (I am 66...had a lot of cars...). Always appreciate the good insights (I learn something with every one I watch). Keep up the fine work!
@@uzimizer I somewhat agree...although I have been wanting to venture into the EV world...the PHEV allows me to do that without "getting in 100%". Also my X6M just ran out of warranty and the twin turbo engine is very expensive to work on if any issues (none of the extended warranty companies will cover them)..This X5 50e is really beautiful (I got in the same color package as this video with blue calipers). Thus far I am really happy with it!
@@billshull6698 yea x5 is great car bro my grandpa is also like 66-68 and he just bought one and he enjoys it because it was a huge upgrade from his mercedes glc
Bmw makes some great SUVs. The x5 and x6 are both really affordable being around 75k and the m comps being 110k. While the Audi q8 starts at 160k. I used to drive a x6m comp 2020 matte black also then I traded in for a 2024 cayenne s hybrid pebble grey (getting a gts in September) , I also have a 2022 m5 comp matte black. Cayenne base and s is good because it’s also under 100k. X5 50e is a great car being around 90k full optioned. Meanwhile a Toyota Highlander platinum is 75k, with Toyota markups it’s going to be over 80k. At that point I could get an x5. Merc is good for company car as it’s cheap, bmw is good for family car as it offers a lot for affordable price. Porsche for performance and Audi is just luxury and performance but their price tags are way higher.
I have the X5 50e. Absolutely love it. The range on the battery is so much better than the previous Hybrid. Had for a year now and only filled the fuel tank three times, I plug it in ever night. The engine is hardly ever used. On a long journey it achieves 80 miles per gallon.
I love my 2022 45e with all the hard buttons and iDrive 7 system and none of the slapped on tablet, no physical buttons and iDrive8 system. I love the EV range increase and gasoline engine power increase. But the X5 45e can never be found wanting with nearly 400hp, this one is insane close to 490 hp. Also the base price up by $10K is insane! I also got the full fed EV tax credit. No longer there since 2023. Beware of the 2024 model of this, heard a lot of issues from early owners. He those are sorted out for 2025?
iDrive 8 SUUUUUCCKS! The 8 shortcut buttons are gone. Climate control buttons are gone. Heated seats and ventilated seats are now have to be turned on / off in software. Manual turning on of low beam headlights and PARKING LIGHTS are in iDrive. Was the turn-style headlight switch too complicated, for BMW? Even the HEATED STEERING WHEEL BUTTON is gone. Won't buy another BMW until BMW undoes iDrive 8 buttonless stupidity.
While I do not like ID8/8.5 the shortcuts are still there. A swipe down from the top gets you there. I do dislike that the HVAC needs to be ON for the Heated/cooled or heated steering wheel to be turned on.
that buttons are still there - they are now called touch screen buttons, like the iPhone has now a touchscreen instead of hardware buttons like Nokia used to have, nevertheless those buttons made of plastic send a signal to a controller or module to regulate the climate or whatever, now its more modular streamlined going to a similar controller or module - same as before. Not just turned on or off in software. Like the iPhone BMW will not go back to the plastic buttons and others will follow like they always have. BMW had the angel eyes or halo around the lights - every car now has the halo or some LED light around the head lights, BMW had the Idrive a decade ago and a big extra screen and every car now has another extra screen, all copy cats - there is no going back, welcome to the 21th century, take it or leave it
@@frankjacobi7362 - Nah. Once all the economy cars go buttonless then the luxury cars will have to add them back in to differentiate themselves. Physical buttons will be considered a hallmark of fine fit and finish and craftsmanship. All these screens are just a cost cutting measure, after all -- no physical buttons to design, manufacture, QA, inventory, warranty, etc. All that replaced with one cheap screen - and they charge you MORE for it too! People are so brainwashed.
I love IDrive 8.5. It’s so easy to use once you get used to it. Climate controls are just as easy to use as before, and in some ways simpler. I adore my 2025 x5 50e. I have 500 lies on it and still have over 3/4 of the original tank of gas from the dealer. And it’s a rocket!
@carlossalinas6234 the engine performance with the incline-6 is nice in the Benz but the BMW's I6 is much more responsive. Also the suspension is better in the M Sport. I didn't drive the M60 but I would expected much more from the V8TT. Good luck and enjoy.
I'm probably buying new X5 this Fall. Had one many years ago which I loved but became nothing but problems after around 70K miles on it. Thing started bleeding leaking oil like crazy. Has the reliability on this car improved since 6-7 years ago? I really dont want to deal with crazy issues again. Nice review here.
Rented the x5 for a week for a road trip. Was really happy with everything except the AC system. 1. When at a stoplight, the engine would go idle and the AC temp would noticeably become weaker.. 2. The AC on full blast is LOUD and when on full blast, not as effective as my honda or VW. If the AC system was better, would put in an order today.
As a 2024 BMW X 5 owner, here’s the solution. The auto A/C system still requires/allows you to set the fan speed regardless of the automatic setting. Unlike older models it doesn’t automatically go to high speed then adjust downward after max cooling. Simply set the fan speed to maximum, then select a lower less noisy setting. As far as weaker cooling at stoplight it is most likely due to engine shutdown which is barely noticeable with 48 mild hybrid system on restart. Simply lighting tap gas pedal and engine will restart. New system take awhile to learn!
‘25 s40i owner- Here’s my pros/cons: Pros- B58 and ZF trans. (Silky smooth power delivery, reliability, and efficient- I’m getting high 20’s around town and low 30’s on hywy), Tech (I actually prefer the idrive 8.5 vs the 7 with one caveat (explained in the Cons below), quietness/build quality. Cons- Cordless charger is garbage (too slow, heats the phone too much, blocks use of the cup holders when using). The HVAC fan speed (you shouldn’t need a tutorial on how to effectively use- As others have stated, “very low” is virtually nonexistent and “low” blasts you with air. It should work like any other car in auto mode and it doesn’t- Get remote start for sure and it’ll be conditioned when you enter. I prefer Idrive 7’s HVAC physical buttons and there’s no issues with fan speed). Rear wiper should be tucked in the top (looks janky). In order to get adaptive cruise, you have to bundle it with the Driver Assistance Professional Package (DAPP)- Why? Start/stop feature can’t be disabled (unless in sport mode, or you tap the gas- It does raise the cabin temp on hot days). - Having said this, I compared with several other makes (including Mercedes GLE) and there just is no comparison with the quality and (most of) the features on the X5. With Porsche, you’re going into 6 figure territory and I’m not interested in that. If BMW addresses the Cons, you’d have yourself the perfect 2 row midsize SUV. As of now, it’s pretty close…
I swear I've watched this video like a few months ago... is this a reupload? Anyway still good info 👍 For the PHEV, if you're not using the electric capacity exclusively to get the 39 miles on battery only, what's the combined mpg with gas + battery? Like if you're using it as a regular hybrid... And how is the air vent setting in this X5? The two lowest settings in X1 (very low and low) are pretty much: non existent and hurricane. Either you don't feel anything or you'll feel like driving without a windshield (air blows and noisy).
Why do you keep acting effin surprised and gushing that it’s a base car and yet it goes so fast, it’s a frickin 400+ hp beast. There is no ‘baseness’ in this. Get over with it dude.
always the same people who have no clue what they are talking about, Sensafin is made from plant based (read plant not crude oil) material for a more ecological footprint, its made mostly from pineapple fibers and feels very close to leather which is animal based but lasts a lot longer and looks good a lot longer than merino which feels and smells nicer of course, to each his/her own

I just ordered a white one, M sport I’m really excited about it
Only down side is the depressurization, but it looks really nice.
I've ordered the "base" M Sport to replace my wife's GLE450. The suspension difference is night and day.

Yes. The current B58 has several upgrades that make it more reliable.

For the start/stop, one workaround is customizing the sport individual to be comfort. Then sport individual is basically comfort without start/stop.
