    I wear protective style n take it off every 2 weeks,then deep condition, moisturize n put it back straight away.
    I use aloe vera juice every other day,fenugreek water n also aloevera oil.

    Stylist that want your hair pre-stretch is a no no and that tells me that they don’t know how to take care of 4c hair at all and they cause more damage hair . As a stylist it’s your specialty to show are hair love.

      Yes i can agree with u on this. Its been such a huge discussion in the natural hair community. Argument is that if can handle braiding natural hair then just say u cant braid it. I unfortunately had to stop because no one allows non blow dried hair! Even close people in my life love my hair results...but also say just let them blow dry it..im like no. They dont understand having 4c hair.

    In my country the stylists always wash and blow dry your hair before the braid it but I personally stopped allowing them to do that I prefer to pre stretch my own hair because most times when I go to the salon my hair is combed roughly and it breaks a lot ,then no heat protectant so my hair is more prone to heat damage .I just prefer to do it my self and get my hair braided

    Why 4c hair needs to be tucked under protective styles in order to “grow”. When hair is in a twa for example it grows without that. People can grow their hair without protective styling and I think it allows you to enjoy your hair and love it truly no matter the length. You can retain length without protective styling. It’s also nice to be able to look good while growing your hair.

    • @abenak1309
      @abenak1309 2 года назад +47

      I get what you're saying but just from my experience with my 4C hair, I notice that if my hair isn't in protective styles, it breaks more often so although it is growing, I don't see the growth. I don't retain longer length hair when my hair is always out. So it all depends on your hair growth goals. If you don't want it to take years to grow, then protective styling is key to speed the process. It's ok to have hair out during this process but for short periods of time only to enjoy your hair.

    • @ChroniquesAfro
      @ChroniquesAfro 2 года назад +21

      @@abenak1309 That is true that when your hair is out it’s a bit mot of maintenance. But I think just saying that our hair can only grow best when it’s tucked away and hidden is not true. The reason for breakage is not the fact that your hair is out per say it’s dryness most likely. And even with protective styles hair still breaks because you’re bending and twisting and over time the hair is weakened if it’s not cared for properly. I think without protective styles it really teaches you to know you’re hair and love it. I was doing protective styles for years and didn’t get me anywhere. I started wearing my hair out and I have learned so much about my hair than I did all these years and I’m still retaining a lot of length.

    • @FineNaturalHairROCKS
      @FineNaturalHairROCKS 2 года назад +13

      This is so true! I'm starting to rethink protective styling as being "needed to grow out" 4c natural hair for the reason you just mentioned. It's really nice to know how your hair looks at the various different lengths and stages.

      My sister's hair is 32 inches only after wearing protective styles. All these 4C with super long hair got that way with protective style because you leave your hair untouched weeks at a time.
      I wear my hair in 6-8 braids underneath a wig 2-3 weeks at a time. That is protective and no manipulation.

    For the longest, I never understood why I would have short strands of hair throughout my head. As I got older, it dawned on me that when my stylist was clipping my braids to make them look neater, she was also clipping away my hair. Completely ruins the point of getting braids as a protective style. When I see this in salons now, its a sure red flag

    Also people say their hair is weaker when it's wet. Yes only when I use to perm my natural hair is stronger when it's wet as far as styling. I can pull an comb a little hard if I do on dry hair it break off a lot. Experience; girls wet or put some type of moisture before detangling because they loose very little. They have spray bottles so the hair don't dry while styling so my hair is stronger when wet.

    I'm so glad you talked about stylists requiring us to come with blow dried/straightened hair. If our ancestors didn't need to do any of those things in order to braid our hair, then why should we start now? smh

      Yeah they never worked for me. My hair would dry up and knot/ tangle as the ends so it’s a no no for me. They do be looking nice though on other people though 😭

    Yeah I stopped using extensions and not into wigs. No more going to braid shops. With a twa for many years and thinking of growing my hair out. Single coils or braid outs would be my go-to. May take longer for the grow out.

    Wash n go's are definitely not what it's named. I know plenty thicker coiled ladies who do them successfully. Obviously they wash and deep condition and moisturize their hair before doing this and when using the right prouducts the hair isn't dry...but they tend to last at least 4 to 5 days when done correctly. Summer time with the heat and humidity here in my island WnGs are my go to because I don't have to do much during the week at all to my hair. Also, I prefer to prep my hair myself before going to a stylist for braids because some are not as gentle as I am with my own hair...and I also like to give myself a strengthening treatment before and after having a protective style.

    Hi Eugenia,
    After hours and hours of watching multiple influencers I stumbled on your page.
    I have purchased products worth $100 from your shop. Really really hope they work for me.
    I have low porosity, medium density, coarse indian rib length hair.
    I scarcely use heat, but struggle with keeping hair not-dry, not-brittle 😁
    Please share your full week/month routine with all your oils( aloe, bring raj, hair serum) along with leave in and deep conditioner mask.

    Great video but my only question is how do you moisturize your hair while you keep it in the protective style for 6 weeks? Do you wash your hair while it’s in a protective style or do you just mist with and water then apply oil?

    • @lilnativa_That_4C_hair_Chick
      @lilnativa_That_4C_hair_Chick 2 года назад +9

      There's only one way to find out. You have to go on trials and errors phase with your hair to do what works best for your crown. Some naturals will refresh, some others won't. There's no unique solution as everyone's hair responds differently to products, manipulation or even long lasting protective styles 🙂 u've got this Sis!

    I’m currently in love with my hair and I have been quite gentle with it too but what’s stressing me now is trimming and split ends. I see that some of my strands are splitting I’m not just sure the best way to go about it

      Leave them alone. Only trim if you’re having trouble detangling or styling.

    Me with my stylist they can never get my hair straight because I don't have a relaxer so I try to get it flat iron so I can have my split end cut they can't even get it straight and I like my protective style my braids in and they can't even braid it so with me I have to always bring a comb and some oil because they don't put enough oil in my hair and I have to always oil it and style it myself so I just don't bother going in there anymore to get it done

      Oil burns your hair when straightening. Just use leave in and heat protectant.
