Nice !
Dude nice cat do more fish (flathead catfish)
I am one of the unlucky ranch owners that don't have clay to build a pond. I have to haul in clay to make a small pond but that's $$$$$$$$.
Dammit... that sucks I feel ya.
Cool Shit!
Those big catfish looked half dead
Lol they did they sedated them since they had a long drive to get there. 3 years later they are still here getting bigger and fatter and eating everything in the pond lol.
@@CarrascoRanch
You said they were about 30 pounders when they went in. What are they now? They must be giants?
That's a lot of blue cat for a small water hole.
Yes sir sure is!
@@CarrascoRanch They love shiners. Blues are not bottom feeders. They are minnow chasers and will compete for food with your bass. I've got a three acre pond for cats and an eight acre pond for bass. My land is just north of Mt. Pleasant and south of Talco Texas.
How do you get pond ready for fish?
First if it's a new pond. Make sure it holds water well and has a good clay base. Huge fluctuations in water in short periods of time will kill your fish.
Next the first fish you should be adding to the new pond are bait fish so that way the predator fish will have something to eat right away. (Unless your adding fingerlings) they will usually eat small insects instead.
Definitely have something in place to keep the alge at bay to much alge deplete oxygen and Kill the fish as well. You can do this by making the pond depth at least 6 feet deep, or algaecide, or by adding fish that eat alge ( what I have chose to do).
So just to sum it all up.
1. 6ft deep minimum
2. Holds water well
3. Water quality test (ph,oxygen,clarity)
4. Baitfish
5. Predator fish
6. And enjoy!
Quick summary there is more but hope this helps get started. 👍
Oh this was 2. Yrs ago lol
Nice cats brother 👍🏻
Are you going to do more stocking pond videos
I probably will in a couple months
Ok I will be waiting
You gonna add bass
What all do you have and what will u have
I have catfish two different species blue and channel. Carp, blue gill red ear, tilapia, shinners, fatheads, mosquito eaters.
Thinking about adding bass or building another pond and making that a bass pond for monster bass. Not sure what ill do yet lol. 🤔
How many did you find belly up?
None actually
Are trophy fish big?
How much did this cost you?
Don't remember exactly it's been a minute...but close to 3k
Did you say North Texas who are you using to get your fish?
Yes sir,
Overton Fishieries
10ppm dissolved oxygen in a 70 degree pond? That's REALLY high. Maybe somebody didn't calibrate their D.O. meter that morning.
Blue cats do not do well in small shallow ponds with no current!!
Hi Larry,
They actually are fine it's been over 2 years and still growing.
@@CarrascoRanch did they spawn?
Nice cats brother 👍🏻
Yeah... man was a much anticipated date for me when we got those fish in there.
